It could be that your lighter is just broken. If you want to try again with a different torch this is the type that I use. If you want to just ditch the cheap torches and buy a more expensive torch then dynavap sells some directly through their website and I know that people on this sub seem to like the single flame zippo torch inserts.

I use one of these. Very cheap, haven't broken on me yet after 6 months use and the gas tank is large enough where I only have to refill it every 3 or 4 days, instead of once or twice a day. (Heavy user here)
First off, single flame is better for Dynavap. It allows for slower heat up, and as a result, a more even extraction.
And as someone who has purchased a bunch of torches, just buy these Pack of 4 Eagle or get something similar from the gas station.
Two won’t work well out of the box and the other two will last you for years without issue.
The sweet spot for torches, in my opinion is, large tank, and translucent, or with a window, so you can check butane levels. But stay cheap because the expensive ones crap out just like the cheap ones.
You also want to have a few laying around for when one dies or you have to fill one and don’t want to wait.
I think it’s butane or something similar but I’ve always just called them torch lighters. Something like the link below. And I haven’t had to light one yet this winter so maybe I’m misremembering but I don’t think I ever needed to have the fan cranked up high to light.

My crew rolls with flush cutters, diagonal cutters, ziptie guns and these handy dandy torches for cleaning up protective mesh.
Go to the gas station and buy one of these for $5.
Sometimes you'll get a dud (they're $5) but a good one will last a long time if you fill it with decent butane. And the large tank is awesome.

I got these a little more than 2 years ago. One still works perfectly, one works but the ignition is broken (I use a normal bic lighter to light the torch), and I lost the other two. Overall, not bad for $12.
Long time SBJ user. I'm on my third one of these torches* The first one lasted 6 months, the second lasted over 2 years. Never had to bleed it, just refill and let it sit for a couple minutes.
*I didn't actually buy a 4 pack, I get them from a cigar shop nearby, the link is just for reference.

They are cheap and last a while between refills (depending on use of course). This is my go to torch, works better then all the expensive ones I’ve owned.
I recommend these off amazon for a single flame torch.
That’s what I got. Still using the same one for about 6 months now (have refilled it a couple times). It used to light on the first click but only recently started requiring 2-3, so it may finally be wearing out

listen when i first used the dynavap my first week was horrible but i am a medical patient so i had to figure it out and i did.
The first thing i can tell you is ditch the 3 torch lighter they give you. once you know what you're doing its great but for a noob get one of those eagle torches
this is exactly what i have and works amazing.
once you get a single flame lighter aim at the V where "dynavap" is written on the cap.. A little thing you can remember "hit the tip for a good rip but hit the base to go to outer space" meaning if you heat the tip of it up it will be a yummy terpy hit but if you hit the base of the device (the V part on the cap) you get a much more intense hit. make sure you're spinning the device in your fingers if you do not have an FJM (more on that later)
one of the best things i can tell you if your tip is stainless steal heat the device up 4 seconds past the click (if its cold) and if its titanium about 2 and a half or 3 seconds past the click. Hold your flame just so the 2nd part of the inner flame is just overring over the device. this will give you a more even burn on your weed and really help you get the hit you're looking for since you use to be a smoker. I know dynavap slogan is "respect the click" but i seriously hate that because if you want to get a REALLY good hit you have to hit 3-4 (to almost 5 if your device was in your cold car and you're trying to use it right away) this is super important and is what a lot of people are failing to do if they can't get huge clouds.
the single best fucking upgrade you can get for this is an aftermarket part called "the full metal jacket" or FMJ and its 10 bucks, an absolute dynavap game changer.

what this thing does is encase your entire dynavap in this copper jacket of heat retention. it also eliminates the need to spin the dynavap in your fingers as you are using it and it also gives you the ability to do a "one hit extraction" where as soon as it clicks you can go from green weed to black AVB in one breath if you're built like that. (i can't do this in the morning but later at night i can) now the device will stay a tad warmer but a small desk on it or even using your T shirt to put in your fingers so you can take off the cap tip is needed as it really holds heat.
I switched to a homemade pinky style vape and the FJM made me put my Dynavap back on my desk due to how well the FMJ makes the thing work.
I have various stems but if you get one that will mate to a 14mm bong an SMJ and heat it past the click there is no better portable experience to get high.

It's rare if I get less then 7 cycles every time out of one cap. Most of the time over 10. I've been using the M for close to 2 years almost every day. Here is how I use it...
Use a single torch lighter. I love the eagle ones on Amazon. Super cheap. Refillable. Mine came already filled and they have a huge tank. 4 pack always under $15. Some I have refilled over 5 times now. They are surprisingly durable. I heat for a long time and the large butane tanks rarely need refilling.
I tried other tri/quad flames and just didn't get the big hits like I can with the single torch and they combusted a lot easier.
I heat right until the 2 click and not much over. Sometimes towards the end of my cap I will press my luck and coax a bit more vapor out of it going 1-2 seconds past the clicks. I focus as far away from the end of the tip as I can. Towards the end of the cap closest to where you draw.
To get the product into the M I use the straw technique directly out of my grinder. Basically use the M like it's a straw and suck in to fill your cap. This creates a fluffier product that isn't packed too tight. Too tight has draw restrictions and just isn't as efficient.
I heat it very slow. Sometimes up around 20 seconds. Especially when the M is cooled down all the way. Distance away is a bit less then an inch. I like to think of it as slowly roasting a big piece of meat over a fire. Dont get in a hurry. If you do you will char it and have a shitty experience. I just keep my flame in one spot and slowly keep rolling the M at a consistent speed until the second click.
I pretty much have the carb closed the whole time for my draw. I suck in hard like trying to drink a thick milkshake out of a straw. If the vapor starts to get too warm (typical of the first 3 hits) I will roll the M a bit slowly between my thumb and pointer to open and close the carb introducing a bit of cooler air.
The draw usually lasts me until the cool down clicks or right before it. I only draw into my mouth and then inhale with some air behind it to really drive the hit deep.
I usually hit the vape back to back in groups of 2 or 3 cycles. Then a bit of a break in between the next group of 2-3. I've found when I combust it's when I get my cycles groups too close together or heat it too close/quickly.
I very rarely combust. I keep hitting it until it starts to taste a bit like burnt popcorn, but not in a terrible way. My ABV is never black, but gets the color of a light roast coffee. I still get a decent amount potency out of my ABV when I make golden dragon. If the last hit didn't taste a bit like burnt popcorn, then try heating it a little bit slower and a little bit longer after the clicks. If you go slow it's hard to combust with a single flame if you respect the clicks.
One cap is typically all I need to get to bed. Sometimes I need 2 if I had some earlier in the day. I'm a cheap ass stay at home dad in an illegal state. I want the most bang for my buck.
