Well step 1 is to stop getting cheap ass batteries. Get eneloop batteries with a battery charger here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL1O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Vo-vDb8Q860YJ
Put 2 in your controller, leave 2 on the charger
When the 2 on your controller die, swap out for the fresh ones on the charger
Repeat steps for the next several years.
If you can’t manage to do this then what you need to do is get a new brain because your current one doesn’t work
Best rechargeables I’ve used. And have gotten years out of a 4 pack of these solely on Xbox controllers.
Panasonic K-KJ17KHCA4A Advanced Individual Cell Battery Charger Pack with 4 AA eneloop pro High Capacity Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries,Black,4-Pack
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL1O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vOHfFbT9EHFGS
The console won’t recharge any rechargeable batteries you put in the controller. Alternatively you can buy these Panasonic rechargeable batteries 4 plus a charging port. For me, 2 are always charged and ready to be swapped out. No need for charging cables. Just my opinion though
Eneloop rechargeables get recommended frequently on this sub. I bought some last year and am greatly pleased. I just have 8 batteries that I cycle through (for two controllers and a few other things around the house, like wireless mouse). Whenever the ones die in my controller I just put them on the charger and put in two fresh ones that are already charged and waiting to go.
EDIT: updated link with a better deal linked by u/Erick0n (charger w/ 4 batteries included)
> Amazon charger
or you could just buy the actual eneloop pro charger that comes with four batteries for $26 instead of paying $20 for the batteries and another $15 for a generic Amazon charger.
That being said, I'd definitely recommend the eneloop. They recharge super quickly and last a lot longer than the battery pack on the play and charge kit.
I have the same one for my WMR VR headsets.
Not a great price as it goes for $16+ on Amazon.
It's currently $26 and I've picked it up for $22 in the past.
I didn't even know about LSD/Hybrid batteries and it's good to know they don't lose much charge not in use. I got this a few months ago because I heard Eneloops are the best, glad I got the right ones!
Yes, I've had mine for three years and they work great. Always have a set charged so you can swap them out when low.
Panasonic makes great batteries and chargers- this one will work with all NiMH rechargeable battery brands Panasonic K-KJ17KHCA4A Advanced Individual Cell Battery Charger Pack with 4 AA eneloop pro High Capacity Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries,Black,4-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL1O/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_8CMPQJ3XR9DA90S6115C
eneloop pro on amazon this is the one with a charger that I got, but they sell without if you have a AA charger already
It would be used quite often. Her and my sisters take the dog out for a walk and often forget to lock the door. This is the main reason I am looking to get one ASAP.
Weird about the batteries though. Might I suggest these. I bought them June 2016... (I'm looking at my amazon orders to confirm) and I still have only charged them once for a wireless keyboard I use daily... I obviously can't guarantee they will ever last that long for anyone else as I barely believe it myself, but I would definitely try them on whichever lock I end up getting.
Can you recommend one on Amazon? I found this one (below) but I can't tell if it discharged as well. I recently bought a Duracell one from Target hoping it's good for my Xbox remotes (haven't opened it yet because I haven't needed new batteries yet), but I want to get a good one.

This is the answer. Best investment I've made in batteries in years. 4 Double A's and the Charger will run you 27 bucks but well worth it on Amazon. Amazon link
The Eneloop Rechargable's. Best investment I've made in batteries in years. 4 Double A's and the Charger will run you 27 bucks but well worth it on Amazon. Amazon link
I'd invest in eneloopbatteries. Last way longer than the battery packs.
If you haven't already, buy yourself a four pack of Panasonic eneloop pro AAs with a charger (~$27 on Amazon at time of writing). One pair will last for a few days of regular play off of one charge & the other (fully charged) pair will be right there when you need a replacement.
I bought a set when the pandemic started & it's been smooth sailing ever since.
But him this:
Panasonic K-KJ17KHCA4A Advanced Individual Cell Battery Charger Pack with 4 AA eneloop pro High Capacity Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL1O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_KkoJAbYQ1RA1C
The total is 5100mah in 2 AAs and the other two can charge. Then tell him to stop whining.
The eneloop pro is amazing! The Xbox play and charge kits don’t hold a long enough charge. I can usually get 2-3 weeks with heart use age before I have to recharge them.
Here’s a link from https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL1O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_uT6bAbJVVQV24
Just get Eneloops.
2550 mAh (1.5v) in a AA battery.
I don't remember the last time I needed to recharge them.
For anyone curious, I ended up going with this. I wanted to mix and match the Charger with different batteries, but living in Canada, I think they haven't expanded newer models to sites like Amazon and eBay, and sell it all in-house, which is ridiculously expensive due to US to Canadian currency, + insane shipping. Ended up getting this.
Not exactly what I wanted, but it's the best I could do without paying an absolutely absurd amount.
So this would be the best if you wanted them to last the longest?
Once again, overcharge protection. If you're charging a lithium ion 4.1V battery system using 5V and you don't cut the power off when the cell is ~full, you're in danger of the case splitting and VENTING WITH FLAME.
Either way, do what you want. Here's a link to the batteries you should get if you want to keep your warranty and have long gaming sessions without having to plug in.
It came with the charger, so I assume it should be good? I hope so at least!
$28 at Amazon and I used them as well with my Quest controllers.
I went with rechargeable AA batteries, and couldn’t recommend that more. I actually got an eneloop combo pack with charger. You get AA and AAA batteries, along with C and D converters. No more buying batteries for household remotes or Xbox controllers. Even a remote for the systems themselves.
This is what you want, right here:

i recommend this fancy battery charger instead. you can select the charge rate and has other options on it
https://www.paulsfinest.com/Maha-PowerEx-C9000-WizardOne-Battery-Charger.html
if you don't care much for the AAA batteries you can just get this on amazon here
https://www.amazon.ca/Panasonic-KKJ17KHCA4A-Individual-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00JHKSL1O/
comes with AA batteries but the charger does AAA as well
Sure.
This is the pack with the charger I purchased. The charger is normally $20 so I figured an extra ~$6 for 4 Eneloop Pros is a good deal.
For extra batteries, I just purchased these Amazon Basics high capacity AA rechargeable batteries as they have relatively similar MAh and are decently priced.
Edit: fixed second link

This is the best rechargeable battery on the market from my research. Been using it for 3 months and probably one of the best purchases I've made.

Seems to me to go with the brand name over Amazon? I thought Amazon would be a cheaper solution. What are your thoughts?
Would these work aswell? They look the same and have the same stuff https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-K-KJ17KHCA4A-Individual-eneloop-Rechargeable/dp/B00JHKSL1O
I have the white non pro version, it’s the same. That model does both AAA and AA. So I charge AAA for remotes and AA for Walkman. Here’s the one I have but it’s a combo with AAA on Amazon
Don't know the price difference but the Eneloop are also 2550mAh vs these at 2300mAh. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JHKSL1O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
+1 for the Eneloop rechargeable batteries. I use these.
External hard drive i see you have gotten it sorted already so I'd recommend eneloop pro.
Thanks for the correction, I did not know that. Still, if you use the 2550mAh ones you’ll have 2550mAh at 2.4V = 6.12Wh. Looks like you can get four of those plus a charger for $28. (Reference: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL1O/)
I don't know what country you're in but I would personally recommend these if you don't already have a decent charger.
I got these. they have been perfect

I got these and have been happy with them
I personally use Panasonic Eneloop Pro rechargeable batteries. They last a long time and come with 4 batteries, so you'll have two ready while the others charge.
Get these exact batteries trust me. I bought them in 2018 and they still work and charge perfectly and last good. They support up to 500 recharges. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL1O/ref=dp_iou_view_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Amazon sells a good kit of the AA Eneloop Pro with charger for under $30 shipped.
Do you have any specific ones you recommend? I'm not an expert in batteries I see a lot of them in Amazon that are 1.5V and rechargeable but would like to know your recommendation, also is this 1.5V? Can't find any information regarding the voltage for it. https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-K-KJ17KHCA4A-Individual-eneloop-Rechargeable/dp/B00JHKSL1O/ref=sxin_2_osp22-d52ad021_cov?ascsubtag=d52ad021-12aa-414b-a7fa-a3c0dd11db17&creativeASIN=B00JHKSL1O&cv_ct_id=amzn1.osp.d52ad021-12aa-414b-a7fa-a3c0dd11db17&cv_ct_pg=search&cv_ct_wn=osp-search&keywords=Lithium-ion%2Bbattery&linkCode=oas&pd_rd_i=B00JHKSL1O&pd_rd_r=fd7cfef2-b580-408c-b357-25f81990d8b9&pd_rd_w=UMzeD&pd_rd_wg=Ucrdy&pf_rd_p=37dcfc87-cdc2-4138-941e-56f6d8e6b463&pf_rd_r=VWQP870H7GTSDMCW15AJ&qid=1555080370&s=electronics&tag=reviewedoap-20&th=1
Just wanted to check in to see if that wall charger (Panasonic K-KJ17MCA4BA) on Amazon is still the best wall charger. I've been reading up on the subreddit the past few days and it seems like if I want to make the jump to the eneloops, I should be buying 2 of those wall charger packs (8 batteries, 2 chargers) for ~$35 on Amazon. On the amazon page you linked, there are "quick chargers" and "standard chargers." Did you pick the standard chargers over the "fast charger" on purpose? I think I have read for phones that not enabling "fast charging" helps the battery life over the lifetime of the phone. I'm not sure if that's kind of the same idea.
Is that same amazon page you linked for the charging pack the best place to get the larger battery-only packs for AA and AAA? In other words, 12/16/24 packs? Also, is there any way to ensure you are getting the 2019 - 2020 battery packs (from the "eneloop 101" link)
I bought one of these eneloop pros from amazon about two years ago. I had to throw away one of the batteries because the charger stopped charging it, but other than that, they are still fine. I do remember reading one of your posts saying that some wall charger discharges the batteries a certain amount per hour they are left in it (i.e. remove the batteries as soon as you see they are done charging). Do you know if the eneloop chargers are smart enough to leave charging all night without them discharging?
I believe you also recommended battery caddies - this is the most popular one on Amazon currently but I don't know if it matters - I'm guessing the only reason is to have the batteries spaced out
I don't know if I need adapters for D cells... What is the best option for 9V batteries? Is it the energizer lithium? How about button cells like the CR2032 (car key batteries, tile pro batteries, etc.)? Thank you.
I found these. What do you guys think?

I used the Panasonic eneloop ones I got from Costco like 10 years ago. They still worked great after using them for my old Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers for years. These are the newer ones in black with more capacity: https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-BK-3HCCA8BA-eneloop-Pre-Charged-Rechargeable/dp/B00JHKSL1O?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1
I would recommend you do a bit more research on how long exactly WMR controllers can last. I have a friend who uses these with 20 hours of battery life give or take.
Saw these over on /r/buildapcsales
Also Amazon has it for $28
I purchased these eneloop rechargeable batteries on amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JHKSL1O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They last quite a long time on a charge and are affordable. Highly recommended.
Eneloops.
https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-K-KJ17KHCA4A-Individual-eneloop-Rechargeable/dp/B00JHKSL1O
Plug and play kits turn to garbage rather quickly, always have.
Here. Just get these and be done with it.
I just ordered some that come with this charger
Do you think that one will work alright?

I got a 4-pack of Panasonic Eneloops with the charger, and they've been perfect.

Be happy
These are the ones I use: -
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-K-KJ17KHCA4A-Individual-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00JHKSL1O
They're 2,550 mAh and can be recharged up to 500 times.
You could also get these: -
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Advanced-Individual-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00JHKSMJU
Those have a 2,000 mAh rating and can be recharged up to 2,100 times. They're also on sale for 16 bucks including the charger.
I went with the Pro version because they last around 25% longer on each charge and I care more about that than I do about the number of times they can be charged. They'll still last years.
This is the charger I use: -
http://www.amazon.com/XTAR-Battery-Charger-Premium-Compatibale/dp/B00U26ONVE
Obviously the Eneloops I linked you to come with a wall charger, but if you use a lot of rechargeable batteries, then it's worth paying for something better than the Eneloop charger IMO. That charger has a faster charge rate and can charge lots of different types of batteries, including the bigger batteries you get in electronic cigarettes, torches etc.
BTW, the AmazonBasic rechargeable batteries appear to be re-wrapped Eneloops (if not, they perform just as well anyway), so if you buy a separate charger or you ever need replacement batteries, if they're cheaper than the regular branded Eneloops then just get those.
Buy this and you'll be set...
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-K-KJ17KHCA4A-Individual-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00JHKSL1O
Probably a great idea to invest in one of these ASAP
