It's going to vary by motherboard. Some solutions are to change the PCI-E settings to GEN-3 instead of auto in BIOS (or experiment with other settings.)
Another solution is to use USB based risers because the card basically appears as a 1x. [link]
I also reinstalled drivers multiple times.
> USB style 16x to 1x riser
The other GPU I have is outside my case at the moment.
Nope, ethereum mining a side thing for me. Life is great!
Try a USB pcie riser, should fit.
have you got a 1x port? Put your non graphics card in this thing: [link]
Then put your new graphics card in the motherboard's PCIe slot.
Oooo good idea. I could stand to be a lot less tidy about it too since it's not clear.
I was thinking about hacking up this G4 iMac I have. It can fit a mini-ITX form factor motherboard and someone already figured out the pinout of the LCD to convert it to DVI. I fear I'd have to go auxiliary water cooling and/or even auxiliary video card (using riser cables) if I want any respectable specs though. I mean I could make a pretty decent all-in-one kitchen computer before worrying about specs/cooling but why the hell bother?
Not a full enclosure but there is this.
