Single best book: This one isn't it, but I have to mention it.
Peace, Love, and Barbeque - Mike Mills.
It's not important because it will teach you smoke. It won't although it does have some good tips. It's not important for the recipes, there's probably only about 35 in the entire book.
It's entirely about the joy and culture of BBQ. From a legend in the field. When you finish it, you will understand barbeque.
My favs

and amazon knows me so well the others come up on the same page (for me at least)
Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto
Smoke & Spice, Updated and Expanded 3rd Edition: Cooking With Smoke, the Real Way to Barbecue
11st BBQ magic dust.
Recipe is in this book or you can buy it. Personally I much prefer making my own so I can tweak it how I like it.
