This might not work on all bikes, but I highly recommend looking into it. I bought an otter box defender case. Looks like 26 bucks on amazon. It comes with a belt clip thing. Pry the clip part off the back of this thing, then drill a couple holes in it and zip tie it to your bars, right in between the bar clamps. Line the zip ties up so they are just touching the insides of the clamps so they hold it from sideways motion. Then just clip the phone in. I do this on my WR250r that I off road with. The phone will not come out, even in a crash, and it's low profile with sideways mounting. I flip it to face inward off road, and it's completely protected and still quickly accessible. I know this isn't as easily done on the DRZ as the instrument cluster is kinda in the way... you would need some kinda spacer to hold it up higher. Also recommend get a pebble smart watch and just strap that to your bars. It will give turn by turn directions, and will show texts, and let you send canned texts with just a few simple button clicks. The buttons are huge and easy to press with gloves on.
You can definitely get a original Pebble for £50, (not including VAT probably).
I love my Steel version of the original, and the timeline update (yours will ship with it installed) is fantastic.
$70 is a terrible price for a used classic Pebble, especially in such terrible shape, considering in the last 6 months they've gone on sale multiple times for $79 brand new from a variety of resellers.
On top of that it's likely if it's that beat up that it's one of the older / earlier hardware revisions, and I wouldn't buy any Pebble except a screwed together model, or with 8 MB of storage, at this point.
$50 is a much more realistic price for less than pristine used Pebble at this point.
They're on sale right now, brand new, for $89 direct from Pebble: [link]
And Best Buy:
I think that's certainly worth the extra $20, especially since you'll be getting the latest hardware revision.
Even though messaging is restricted, if you're on Verizon or att, they do let you voice reply which works pretty well. I've only had my PT for a few days and I've come to use Thaf when I'm driving or doing something else. It'll send that person a normal text but that reply will not show in your messages app, so it looks like a one way conversation. Groupon has them for cheap refurb or you can go through Amazon here and here
I have similar requirements in a smartwatch (mainly just want to get notifications - I don't need another phone on my wrist), and I've been using a Pebble Time Steel for the past 4 months and the Original Pebble for at least a year before that.
You can find the original Pebble on Amazon for $70 or the Pebble Time for $90 right now. The next step up would be the Pebble Time Steel or the Pebble Round, but you're looking at a minimum of $120 for a refurb.
Also keep in mind that the Pebble 2 line comes out this fall, so the prices above should fall once those are released.
Edit: Sorry miss read post. I just saw you wanted a pebble time. this is the classic.
Pink one available for £44.95.
