What is Reddit's opinion of Pentel Fude Brush Pen, Medium (XFL2L)?

This might be great as an art project but I feel like this could be too much effort especially when the club is not about learning Japanese language. And preparing brush & ink ready is pretty tedious and messy job if you aren't used to it (though fude-pen like this would help a lot).

Would this be a good pen to practice calligraphy/penmanship with? I've used genuine, full-sized brushes with sumi ink but I'm looking for a smaller substitute

It's just a throwaway but depending on your phone it might be able to identify it with Google Goggles (dunno if there's an iOS equivalent) or translate it with Google Translate?

The Pentel Fude Medium. I saw some YouTuber using one and I liked the results, so I got one for myself.

It does have a soft tip. It's a nylon brush with a cartridge. I think it's a little softer than a "wolf" hair tip.

I think I write better with it for a few reasons. The grids help a lot, but I think it's because I practice mostly with the brush pen right now. Also because almost every example uses brush strokes to teach characters, it's easier for me to learn it with a brush since I can exactly copy the shapes. There are many youtube channels with brush techniques (Mr Ozawa, 陳忠建), but not much for pen technique.

Aber es gibt auch Pinselstifte, die Patronen benötigen, wie der hier, oder der hier, der mit (Platinum-)Füller-Patronen läuft. Es gibt sogar sowas Ähnliches von Faber-Castell.

My calligraphy friend loves his basic Pentel brand bristle pen for basic everyday use. He says they're pretty easy to get used to.
