Just bought a can of plasti dip. Can get it from any hardware/automotive store or even Amazon. Put some masking tape around the logos, and put on 3-5 layers. Super easy to do. It’s the same process as spray painting something, but the good thing about the plasti dip is that you can just peel it off whenever you like without leaving residues (takes 30 seconds). I peeled mine off after a year just bc I got bored of the color.
Also I just stumbled on a YouTube video when trying to understand what it entails to apply blackout tape and there was a guy using Plastidip to coat his chrome.. i looked on amazon and the first review photos were a guy who did his whole FJ with this stuff! That may be easier to work with then the vinyl tape.
You can always plasti dip your rims. My wife did it to her mustang and it came out really well. Here's an Amazon link:

I suggest using spray plastidip, you can get it in several colors on amazon but black or white work best for primer.
Is it just regular black plasti dip like this?
Or is it some special stuff, like a kit, matte, glossy, etc.?
Thanks again! Def going with your plan.
There's the product. The YouTube link that was offered is a good one. Clean rims and tires very good. I used dawn dish soap as it's a degreaser. Then use tire shine on the tires (it's keeps the dip from sticking to the rubber at all) but ensure there is NONE on the rims. Use old grocery bags behind the rims (he used other plastic in the vid) to protect your brakes and such. Keeping the dip cans warm creates a finer mist and better coat. I kept them in a gallon bucket in the sink filled with hot water. When I pulled a can to use I put a 22 oz beer coozy over the can to keep it warm while spraying. Other than that just take ur time and follow instructions on the can for coats and times. I had to remove the plastic bags (carefully) and drive forward to 'flip' the rims, I was missing a bunch on the underside.
I would try that same foam core board or rigid insulation like the other guy mentioned and use some spray adhesive to stick it to the window.
Or, another good idea (and easily reversible) is order a can or two of plastidip. [link]
this stuff is made to be applied in layers and when you no longer want it the stuff peels off like glue on skin. Pretty awesome stuff.
You should buy some rubber spray off amazon and spray your foam so it doesn’t fall apart. That’s the move.
I do have this stuff at home which I used to coat my GoPro casing to blacken it. I used maybe 2 coats, but honestly the durability is a bit crap. I doubt very much it would stand up to the abrasion requirements of racking a barbell.
I did 6 coats, about 15 minutes of drying between coats. Brand wise, i just brought the first one that came up on amazon: [link]
No problem. You more or less do the same thing for the paddle. If you are doing just that though, why not use some plasti-dip? Comes in many colors, gives you some extra grip, and no need to prime. Just clean it, coat it, and let it sit for however long it says on the can.
The one I'm using is Performix, not sure if that's the original. I picked it up from HomeDepot but you may even be able to find it at the local auto shop. I've used it to blacken the headlight rings on my car. Amazon link: [link]
one of my friends used clear coat to make it more shiny but I just used plastidip and then the color that I wanted and it worked pretty well
here is an amazon link to stuff we used it comes in different colors as well.
I have the same chair. I traded it in for a DX Racer but I did not need to... It's a great chair. If I may offer a suggestion. Coat the parts you made with plasti dip. That would be the finishing touch.
Yeah i read to maybe use a foam sealer of some kind before painting it, with maybe acrylic paint? This stuff??
First I sprayed on 6 coats of normal black performix plastidip and then 3 coats for performix plastidip metalizer copper!
edit: amazon links
Hardware store, walmart, or amazon has it! Many many colors!
Watch some of their vids on YouTube, they are pretty cool.
Here it is on Amazon
Let me know if you need tips.
I just wish it didn't have a window. So I bought some PlastiDip!
Use this you can always get it off if you ever want the original look back.
This is the stuff I used
I use the spray on [link]
I see, then yeah glue it with super 77 or some such and you should be good.
So spray it with This?
Ive seen people seal the foam back up with spray plasti dip
to make it last longer. Sometimes times the guns can chew up the foam after you have it setup.
You may wish to consider Plasti-dip
Available from Amazon
No problem, man, here’s an Amazon link, but it can be found at just about any Home Depot. I didn’t use any other coating
I got mine at home depot
Electrical tape to tape off any ports first. Then use plasti-dip : [link]
$40ish worth of [link]
They look awesome don't let anyone tell you different. Some of my friends try to knock them because they made the poor financial decision to spend $600-$800 on new rims.
Did you know Amazon will donate a portion of every purchase if you shop by going to smile.amazon.com instead? Over $50,000,000 has been raised for charity - all you need to do is change the URL!

You could just buy some of this
for cables, check out either cablemod or mainframecustoms
for painting, I dont think there's a service that you can just ship your parts off to have them painted, but for painting pc parts, use plastidip. it's non-conductive, covers in 2 coats, comes in like 1000 colors, and is REMOVABLE just by peeling it off. for your case you may want to use something else, but for backplates and ssd's use plastidip
here's a linus video on plastidipping parts
Stock rubicon wheels. Sprayed with Plasti Dip, cheap and easy.
Thanks! What's the best way to clean them to make sure they are ready? And will I also need 4 cans of the sanitizer? Does it just spray right over the black? And just to confirm, 4 cans of this and this for the satinzer?
FYI it is not hard to plasti-dip anything these days nor would it take tons or even need to be dipped any more as plasti-dip come sin spray can form.
PlastiDip is really good for priming foam. do a few coats of it then use some normal spray paint on top of that
Plasti-dip. Spray it on like spray paint, but peels off like tape. [link]
You mention a plastic gasket between wood and concrete. out of sheer curiosity, what would happen if I used PlastiDip?
I think you might be interested in Plasti Dip
Could plastidip them for <$10 and 30 mins of time. They definitely do look good.
I thought about taping off the mod and priming and using plastidip to recoat the grip.
I have since just bought a vinyl jwrap for it and I think it looks pretty pimp.
It's a common household product for coating things in plastic.
You could spray them with plasti-dip, which will peel off cleanly when you are ready to sell. People do it to their cars all the time.
You can always use Plasti Dip. It is basically spray paint but it is non permanent and can be removed.
7 coats of black and 5 coats of gold. :)
4 cans should be enough for four wheels and I think 3 is enough for the gold. :)
Its that easy
Like slapping a coat of paint on an old motorcycle!
You can find the black Mazda badges here and here.
thanks, is this what you meant?
Posting something on the internet means you get positive and negative comments. It's just how it is. I'm a huge fan of the platform (94-97 Accords) and owned two of them over the years.
The one you pictured is pretty much "Type R" parts from eBay with poor performing aftermarket headlights and PlastiDip thrown on some parts.
edit Not even worth replying in line any more as those posts will be downvoted. The vehicle quite literally is 'Type R' parts from eBay. For anyone interested in duplicating the build:
