I have these they seem OK have you compared them? [link]
I think I was trying Personna blades, the common 100-pack you get off Amazon. Personna is middle-of-the-road, but is has a very thick coating on them. I had all 3 blades in there.

I probably should have experimented with it some more but after 4 cuts in 1 session I threw in the towel. Plus I had to clean up areas with a regular DE razor. I have odd, goofy face geometry and can't get parts of my face or neck "flat" for shaving, so that's probably a big part of the issue. That and the sensitive skin is a problem as well.
Shit my bad, misremembered brand its actually Personna. [link]
They've gone up to 12.50 but still a good deal. They're a lil thinner so they wear faster, but also gives them good flex. Plus you get a lot so change as you need
The box is this kind so I don't know how the individual blades would compare inside it. I know the first 40 or so I used were good.
> spent half of thaf on a 10 pack at the store.
These guys are the best deal. Made in US to boot! For me they show up at $11.30 and qualify for Prime.
Personna Double Edge Razor Blades, 100 Count
Got my First DE for Christmas and used it this morning with some Merkur blades. Felt like a pretty good shave although felt a little tugging think i need some different blades. These have been recommended to me [link] any suggestions?
they are these.
they dont have the blue wrapper like in the photo it is a plain white wrapper. say made in usa and super on them. "comfort coated" on the box.
Thanks for your reply. Can you provide some examples or more details on your specific procedure? Just trying to get some ideas since this is exactly what I'm going for and this is a whole new game for me.
Okay, so the shave soap or cream is to be applied with the brush, right? Do we use one or the other, or both? So I see the Arko is a soap and the Cella is a cream. What would be the differences or advantages/disadvantages? Do they both need be applied via brush?
These are the blades I got. Though I haven't tried them out yet.
Aftershave. Anything else to add here? If I'm correct the two types are witch hazel or alcohol based, right? If correct, what are the differences and why use one over of the other?
Thanks again for your reply and help.
Thanks for the offer. I've used Derbys before, and they're alright, but I'd rather try something else. You're absolutely right that they're not the same as bluebirds... I think I'll make the plunge and try personnas, because they've been popping up in this thread a lot.
I have one, and although the head didn't break (handle cracked), EJ replaced it. Heads are made of cast Zamak, not the strongest stuff ever made : ) I tried maybe 10 different razors, and 25 or so different blades. The EJ with these blades is my favorite. The Lab Blues are VERY sharp, nearly as sharp as Feathers
Get a safety razor and a hundred blades for about twelve bucks: [link]
Rinse it after each use and then dip it into alcohol to displace the water.
Fantastic shave and cheaper'n hell.
Try Amazon:
100 Persona blades for $12.50 delivered
Up your game, son /r/wicked_edge
Pro Tip:
Buy a Merkur Safety Razor and have it for the rest of your life
Then buy a hundred of these US made blades for $12
and you're set for a long time. It's great
Well at some point, quality trumps price. We're splitting hairs here. Also, I bought this pack 10 years ago and gave half of it away, still have about 30 blades.
This is what I ordered from Amazon. Haven't even used them yet. https://www.amazon.com/Personna-Double-Razor-Blades-Count/dp/B0077LAJT2
I use Personna and I get them from Amazon
Well I bought a safety razor and some blades to shave my face. Ended up growing a beard. Its easier for me to spend 12.25 on 100 razors.
Razor blades are dirt cheap too, though. Unless you're buying Mach 4's or whatever, which I think is silly. You can avoid razor burn and get a safety razor for pretty cheap, then a box of like a hundred blades for something like 12 bucks.
Absolutely.
Recommend using Personna Blues. At 12 cents/blade for a US made product. My favourite by miles.
Any recommendations on blades and razors? 100 for $13 is a lot better than the 12 for $30 I was paying
I'm not going to slice off half my scalp the first time?
Good point re: the pillow case, I should be changing it out more often. Wasn't thinking of how my head is touching all the germs. I shave and shower before bed but it's not enough.
Why the importance of a brush? I typically just rub it on my scalp into a nice lather is going: [link]
Another question: do you all shave with the grain, against, or both? I've started to lose hair permanently from my beard ( :*( ) and I'm thinking it's because I've been shaving improperly. I typically will go from my forehead back down my head, but not the other way as it already takes 10 minutes, and if I'm irritating the skin I don't want to do it any more than necessary.
I got this pack of Personnas, but it appears Derby offers a 200 pack for $15.
If you switch over to single blade razors, you can save a good deal of cash as well. It cost like 20bucks for a 100 pack of razor blades.
You can get 100 double sided safety razor blades for $11.95 and a safety razor for ~$30. Never having to bang it against the sink because it's plugged is worth more then any savings imo. All the extra blades do is slice off skin, they don't cut any better and they plug like a motherfucker.
