Definitely steer clear of them. I started with one since I had it on hand and it was way too rough on our husky’s coat. We had always had Goldens and it did work well for their double coats.
We switched to a undercoat rake which has been doing an excellent job. Her coat has been growing back in nicely and it’s doing a bang up job removing the mounds of undercoat that the furminator wasn’t reaching at all.
I use the link below, but it will pull out the undercoat fairly harsh. I recommend using a detangle spray, chi has a really good one. Also poms are drama queens, once she started to realize her little temper tantrum would do nothing she is completely fine with it. Not saying be overly rough on your pom but their coat does need some tough love

I got this coat rake for my boy and it is better than anything else I have tried.
I can get enough hair out in just 2 minutes to make another dog the size of my neighbors chichiwawa. When my big boy gives me more time I can make a miniature poodle. LOL. Basically this gets so much of the loose hair out that the dog is much more comfortable and for a day there is a bit less hair on the floor.
I’m not a promote stuff kinda guy, but I got this two days ago and it just pulled out more than the deep rake/top brush/furmenator. Yes I have to do all 3 in that order. But this new one pulled more in one swipe, I was genuinely fucking surprised. For reference my husky has shorter hair, like 2 in long for the majority of his body. Your results may vary.

I have an eskimo mix, and they also shed like crazy. I find that brushes like this one work super well at removing loose undercoat! A brush session every day for a few days and i noticed a huge difference in the amount of hair around the house
For the shedding, look up "pet dematting comb" on Amazon. It's about $15-20 USD
This is the one that I got:

> I've been to people's flats where their cats have never been outside and their homes are smelly and covered in fur.
Not gonna lie, it's hard work keeping indoor cats. They don't go outside to do their business so it's more important to maintain their litter boxes.
We use a litter called Golden White that we order online. It's insanely absorbent clumping litter with a lavender scent and it's very good at containing odours, especially if scooped daily and in combination with hooded litter boxes. Much better than Catsan, we used to use that stuff and it was awful. Just absolutely reeked of ammonia even after 2 days because it didn't clump, so scooping it was much harder as well.
Having a good vacuum cleaner and some lint rollers handy is essential, we also brush our cats as often as possible, daily usually. I recommend a good pet hair rake like this, it's a good brush for getting that layer of dead hair out of a cat's coat that would otherwise either end up in a) their stomach or b) all over your clothes, carpets and furniture.
Even outdoor cats will leave hairs everywhere when inside the home, so it's unavoidable either way, but it can definitely be managed.
Scoop those litter boxes daily though. That's the play. It's an annoying chore but better than living in a smelly flat. The cats appreciate it too!
We hope to eventually move into a house and get a proper catio. That'll be the best of both worlds for sure. Safe cats that can still get some outdoor action.
Thank you, I've never tried the #5, I'll order one. The #3 just cut them so uneven it looked stupid. I have a guard too, so I'll do that for now. I'm glad you can go against the growth with the comb, going with the growth doesn't seem to do anything but comb the fur and cut the occasional piece.. lol
Would something like this be helpful too? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EZ7UOCM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'd bought a furminator, but, I don't think it was the right choice for them. I have an undercoat rake, but, they don't like the feel of that one. I bought a pack of these cheap plastic combs for human hair and use the wider tooth ones, they seem to have softer tips than the expensive dog comb I bought. They don't mind those as much. I can usually brush about a dog sized pile of fluff out of them with it this time of year. I'm in Florida and they are already starting the spring shed. Ick.
For everyday brushing I like a pin brush (I have a Chris Christensen big pin brush, my dog is a big monster though) - it doesn't hurt her skin and works fairly well. A straight comb is a really important tool as well for checking for mats.
I'd also get a set of curved, blunt-tipped shears (small ones) for trimming face/paws. Even if you take your dog to the groomer you'll want to tidy those areas between visits. They're good for cutting out tough mats too.
If your bernedoodle is double-coated then an undercoat rake is good to have during seasonal coat changes.
I like the double-sided ones with curved "blades" like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pet-Grooming-Tool-Undercoat-Dematting/dp/B01EZ7UOCM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=undercoat+rake&qid=1607083387&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFMTlROUzFSWVhEQUUmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1...
I use this one and I love it. Its a beast. This is the one brush that my boss, a groomer of 10 years who introduced me to every brush I know, used to borrow from me instead of me borrowing from her for once lol.
For some reason all the bernese and pyreneese clients request me, so... it puts in work for sure.
saving this so i can buy something after i get paid, bless you for taking in this sweet baby.
also, as the owner of a maine coon, may i recommend a different brush than the ones on your list? i got a rake comb a while ago (this is the one i have, if you just search "rake comb" on amazon, you'll find a bunch of other similar ones though that i'm sure work just as well) and it works so much better than the other cat brushes i had.
We find that if you do a heavy run through with both sides of this rake (link below) to get the undercoat, then go through with a standard big wire brush to get the top coat, we can reduce the shedding quite well. Maybe 15 minutes every 3 or so days seems to be enough to make it manageable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EZ7UOCM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_l4cCBbSR5Q407
Furminator is okay, but an undercoat rake like this is what a groomer would use, and will do much better to not damage the topcoat. I use one on my aussie and he loves it.

It is this one.
My dog hates it. Like Gollum hate for filthy hobbits. Works wonderfully though.
We got it on Amazon, it's incredible. Worth the price if you have a shedder. We got it for our golden retriever (who is actually Zeus' best friend) but it does double duty for this fuzzy guy.
I’d recommend something like the typical greyhound comb https://greyhoundcomb.com/product/beauty-20cms-7-875-medium-coarse-fine-candy/?v=7516fd43adaa
If he has a cottony undercoat, try an undercoat rake like this https://www.amazon.com/Pet-Grooming-Tool-Undercoat-Dematting/dp/B01EZ7UOCM just don’t overdo it, or you might accidentally pull out healthy undercoat :)
If he tangles a lot while you’re brushing, try a conditioning spray, like the one by groomer’s goop. Just use it as much as you need to stop static building up.
This is the best brush I’ve owned for my dogs. Wish I would have discovered it years ago.

You want an undercoat rake. I got mine from a company called Aussie dog but looks like they are changing things up on their website at the moment.
My groomer swears by this type of brush. Not sure if it is the exact one or not.
My Neb LOVES being groomed.
This is the deshedding brush we use and it works great https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EZ7UOCM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Recommend getting something like this the curved edges can help prevent a lot of skin irritation while also getting out lots of under coat.
My GSD is a puppy, but I have a husky shepherd mix who was recently shedding. I asked for recommendations on the r/doggrooming sub, and was recommended this. It got almost all of the undercoat out, which was the biggest problem. For general grooming, I'll use a rubber brush like this or a grooming mit. Either work really good on the upper coat.
We go to the cat groomer biannually. But we also have a de-matting comb that is fantastic.
Here ya go: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EZ7UOCM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Aw those lion cuts are pretty funny. I hope they're right about the cat liking it haha.

Here’s the one I got - I think they’re all about the same but it works great for my girl. I notice a lot less hair in the house when I use it every week
We have the orange furminator for long hair. It does ok, but it pulls at the hair.
This is cheaper and does an amazingly better job raking the undercoat: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EZ7UOCM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_O-YbBb6MTAZ3G
Also, I promise I'm not a paid spokesman, you can check my history. These supplements have really helped the softness of our girls fur, and shes starting to itch less on her paws/wrist area: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZXX93TG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NbZbBbHV898X5
I'm on mobile. If these are the wrong Amazon links, let me know and I'll change them when I get to my computer. I dont need referral links, just trying to help other wiggle owners.
If anyone has any better experience with supplements (fish oil/omega3/whatever) let me know. I'm open to try new stuff!
I just ordered this dematting tool. It should be here Saturday and I'll try to remember to share my results. Lightening sale for $9 right now so can't hurt to try it.
