I’m too poor to feel hugged, but maybe you can afford it.
Dude, these headaches have been so gnarly. I woke up with my head pounding today and couldn't kick it until around 3pm. Now my system is all out of wack and I'm glued to the toilet 🙄 Glad today is Saturday because it hasn't been a productive one!
On a lighter note, made my first official pregnancy purchase today. This pillowlooked amazing and got great reviews. Can't wait to break it in! Already struggling with sleep and hoping this will help 🤞
I went with the PharMeDoc pillow from Amazon because it has a removable portion to make it from a u shape to a c shape and has a flat part for my arm! That was part of the reason I waited so long with getting one too but this one is amazing !

I bought this along with a wedge to help with hip pain.
Pregnancy pillow recommendation amazon link My pregnancy pillow arrived today. I’m snuggled in bed with it right now! It’s so cozy. It has a detachable side Incase you don’t want to be enclosed I guess & a flat part so that you can have an arm under it without the weight of the pillow. I can report in the AM thread how I slept with it. I definitely like it a lot better than my last pregnancy pillow
It's never too early for a pregnancy pillow! My husband bought me this one and it's been great for resting my sore boobs. I'm 5'5 and it's plenty long enough for me, I guess it depends on how you sleep.
Yes!!! It’s so much better even just for a normal body. This is what I got: it’s a u so it does take up space, but each side is pretty narrow so not more space in total than a body pillow or king pillow. I like that it soft Jersey fabric is cooling- cause I get hot when I sleep, but not with this!
Also, for those asking why not just multiple pillows instead, It is soooo much easier to switch sides and move around without reannging three pillows. And so I can roll or adjust without waking me husband (or me as much). It keeps the pillows in nice placement related to one another instead of my knee pillow falling off the bed while I adjust a head pillow. Trust me, so much better arrangement.

I have this one and like it. My husband made me order it at around 17 weeks and even though I thought I didn't need it at first, it has made a difference in sleep comfort for sure.
I got this one during my last pregnancy. Part is removable if you feel too “closed in” with the original configuration.
PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey U-Shape Full Body Pillow and Maternity Support - Support for Back, Hips, Legs, Belly for Pregnant Women https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ARNBP06P2HNDV13QQX3A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Definitely not too early, I’m already obsessed with mine
I recommend looking into a PharMeDoc one, the one I got has a cooling cover (which is a GAME CHANGER compared to the Jersey cover on my last one) and has a detachable side. It’s U shaped with it attached, which I use as back support and it’s amazing, but if you don’t end up liking that you could remove it and have a roughly L shaped one that will support your leg and belly and still have a place to rest your head too. I’ll link the one I got so you can see but I saw in your flair you’re in Germany so it may not work.
I bought this pregnancy pillow from Amazon ($45) and I love it. It's slightly pricier than some of the other ones out there, but here's why I've found it was worth it:
Overall, been using mine for months now and love it.
I’m only 20 weeks so not real big yet but I got this pillow and I take half a unisom at night. I’m still getting to the pillow but I do feel more supported. I like that one side comes off so I can arrange it how I want or flip it and use my own pillow.
Good luck!
I really like it! Particularly because when i turn from side to side (like 179474 times per night) i don’t have to take it with me, because there’s a support on each side. It makes me feel like I’m getting a “fresh” side if that makes sense? I’m sure there are plenty out there and I would imagine they all work essentially the same. I bought it for my last pregnancy and got it back out around 10w mostly because i just like it. You can also unzip and remove one “arm” and i took that to the hospital with me for labor and breastfeeding and it worked decently for that too.
I will disclose that I have never washed it and ya know, judge how you will on that one...
I would second the memory foam topper - 3” thickness is the minimum. Memory foam for between the knees too - or a “pregnancy pillow” that is shaped like a big U so you get support for your leg without having to shift a smaller pillow around. I use mine upside down as the top doesn’t work for me as a head pillow. There are many brands. Here’s a link to one.
You might also speak to your doctor about amitriptyline. It’s an anti-depressant but has been prescribed for years to people with pain-induced insomnia. It has some contraindications but worth mentioning to your doctor. It helped me enormously for years.
U shaped! PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey U-Shape Full Body Pillow and Maternity Support - Support for Back, Hips, Legs, Belly for Pregnant Women https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_RCH31NK9X4GDJ2QVTF0Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here, my dude, hopefully you’ll have better luck than us penniless folks.
I really recommend either a button-up or a zip-up hoodie, but if you can also have some with pockets in the inside where your bulbs can sit. My jacket is a lifesaver I can just put the bulbs in the inside pocket instead of it swinging around.
Bring headphones, preferably without a wire attached because you'll have a lot on you already.
Bring yourself your favorite snack. I had a hard time eating , but I struggle with being a selective eater anyways so having something from home I knew I'd like was nice.
But honestly not much. You'll be out the first night sleeping most of the time. That your bag should really just have an extra set of clothes and basic toiletries
I highly recommend bringing your switch(if you have one) and getting hulu or something on it
A Pharma Doc Pillow for at home. It's absolutely amazing. If you are an exclusive tummy sleeper like me. It makes it easier.
I love mine. We joke it’s the dead body I lug around. Worth it! It was gifted to me by my mother in law! Here’s mine: PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey U-Shape Full Body Pillow and Maternity Support - Support for Back, Hips, Legs, Belly for Pregnant Women https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4T996JXVKJX8HQA27HPK
I got a pharmedoc one that was kind of a u shape, one side was c and one side was straight. The side that was straight also unzipped and detached so you could easily reposition it. As a major thrasher / roller while I sleep this was ideal! Because if you just have the one pillow you’ll be dragging it back and forth and it’s a pain. If I can find the link I’ll attach it

I have this one, and I sleep semi-on my stomach with one shoulder, arm and leg propped on the pillow, the other on the bed in the middle. That said, I’m only 15 weeks, so hopefully this will keep working as I get bigger!
PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is the pregnancy pillow I got. Worked well for me, along with a pillow under my knees.
PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey U-Shape Full Body Pillow and Maternity Support - Support for Back, Hips, Legs, Belly for Pregnant Women https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_4Y8MYQ5AA10DYDWVPM2A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This pillow is what I’ve been using, with an additional pillow behind my head and between my knees. She is on her side, but if you lay on your back, with the curved bit under your knees, stick another pillow between your knees up high enough to hug, and drop them to one side or the other, and pull the head pillow around so the side of your face is laying on the pillow, it might be enough to trick your body into feeling like you’re sleeping on your side. It has worked for me, but it took me a while to figure it out.
I also have been taking a high CBD/ low THC combo before bed so that’s helpful to relax. If there’s a sleep aid that works for you, check with your doc for medication interactions, and be gentle with yourself. It gets easier. 💖
I'm 1 year post op as of Dec. 28th. Poop didn't come for me until like 3 days after surgery. I'd been taking stool softeners and gas-x all those days though and it wasn't painful at all when it finally happened. I'm a consistent water drinker anyway, so maybe that's why?
What hurt the most for me was the gas pains in my shoulder blade area. They fill you up with gas so they can see better (or so I'm told...I hope I'm not wrong. I wasn't awake so I can't confirm LOL) and the gas settled in my shoulder blade area for a few days. I just felt bloated, but I'd never felt bloated there before so it was really strange for me. "Pain" isn't the right word, but I remember that being the most problematic for me. I also was very weak in regards to sitting up. I felt fine the rest of the time so I had a hard time convincing my roommate that I really did actually need help from laying down to sitting up. He figured I was absolutely fine, and I can see why...I mean, by day 2 I was walking halfway around the block. My recovery went beautifully overall.
I bought this pillow to help with sleeping positions, and I STILL use it. I love this thing so much.

This one was game changing for me. It has crazy good reviews! But heads up it takes up a lot of room lol. Best of luck & congrats 💜
I agree with the suggestion to get her non-pregnancy related things. The exception being if she has specifically asked for things to make her pregnancy easier. In that case, get her a pregnancy pillow. It was the one thing that made a huge difference in my comfort during my pregnancy.
Oh man, it's a whole system haha I'm most comfortable laying but propped up slightly. So I have what my husband refers to as my "nest" or "pillow fortress" lol I use 3 large pillows propped one on top of each other, 2 are firmer, the one closest to me is a down alternative and kinda soft. Then I use a large U shaped pillow like the one linked below. I also use a reading pillow like the kind that has the soft arms and back. I kind of do a combo of those. It works well bc I'm able to sit up a good amount comfortably and I kind of move the large U Shaped pillow provide support under my legs or while I'm sleeping I use it between my legs and kind of hug it. I'd say that in a pinch the most important pillows are the U shaped one and the reading pillow. I'd start with those, the giant u shaped pillow was the game changer for me. There are tons to choose from on Amazon so just pick what looks most comfy for you!

I’ve used this one for the last 18 months including 7 months of postpartum and I will probably keep using it even after this kiddo is out. I love it so much!
Pharmedoc U shaped pillow with detachable side: https://www.amazon.com/PharMeDoc-Pregnancy-Maternity-Detachable-Extension/dp/B07JR3T1G6 I’ve even taken it on road trips and camping because I love it so much.
My husband bought me a maternity pillow before I thought I needed it, and omg, it revolutionized my sleep. I immediately slept so much better.
But for me the cardinal rule was never to imply I couldn't do something, but immediately adjust if I tried and couldn't.
I love this pillow more than anything else in my bedroom. It helped so much with pregnancy, I still used it after giving birth, and I will use it after this baby. My dog loves it too!
It helps to have a bigger bed bc it is big. And it’s hard to snuggle with your partner. But man is it worth it.
I have a u-shaped one from amazon I like! It has a detachable 'log' you can zip on and off which is nice- its the Pharmedoc one. I've had it since before getting pregnant because I like to sleep with a pillow between my legs lol https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_73CN0T18F2PJHPKM0BDY
I have this one. I think a few other people here might have the same. I like that the one side can be unzipped so it doesn't necessarily have to be a U shape.
I was a side/stomach sleeper pre pregnancy, and as the weeks progressed I felt guilty every time I woke up on my stomach, so I got a pillow! I didn’t like it at first but I love it now, it took about 2 or 3 weeks get used to it but I brought it with me on two trips (it has a travel bag!) and couldn’t imagine not having it now. PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
here’s the link I am loving it. And I have the detachable side on the outside of the bed cos it’s a bit more flexible so if I need to get up I just flop it over the edge so I don’t have to climb out
This is the one I got for my husband on Amazon and it’s been a huge relief to get a night of sleep that is significantly less interrupted.
I bought this pillow from Amazon: PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey U-Shape Full Body Pillow and Maternity Support - Support for Back, Hips, Legs, Belly for Pregnant Women https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Z25SF7X26H9NX1T3PEP5
It has a detachable part to it, so I have detached that part from the rest of the pillow and I kind of wedge it under my bump in such a way that still lets me turn my chest and most of my lower half to be flat against the mattress. Like I said it’s not perfect, because the part you really want to lay on (your belly) can’t maneuver into that position, but it’s the best I’ve got for now. Best of luck, I hope you find something that works for you!
I went with the U shape. After searching through r/pregnancy I went with this one bc it was recommended quite a few times and the price was good for something I was skeptical about. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_5FWPEAPPMQXTQHBMXFMV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I haven’t had my lap yet. But I can tell you from previous surgeries (bilateral breast reduction last year), the one thing that saved me was a pregnancy U-shaped pillow. Mine had a detachable leg so I could wean slowly from the full pillow to nothing. But the whole thing was amazing at keeping me upright and on my back during those first rough days/weeks.
Here’s the Amazon link!

16w and I give up trying to find a comfy sleep position with my body pillow. I’m a back sleeper but trying to adjust to sleeping on my side. So I just ordered this pregnancy pillow. I hope it’s worth the hype!!!
U-shaped pregnancy pillows can also be really helpful because it gives you something to hug when you're sleeping on your side and you can put your legs around one end and be cushioned by the other on your back. So comfy.
I wholeheartedly agree with what everyone here has suggested. I also wanted to recommend this pillow
I am sitting here six hours after surgery and so grateful for it. It has a separate section that zips off and I used that in the car as a belly pillow and have it draped around me now. The ‘hook’ shape is incredibly supportive, and the cover is removable to be washed. Best of luck, you got this!
I have the same one, it’s so comfy!!

The pregnancy swelling really does a number if you already have carpul tunnel symptoms. I love my wrist braces now, buti have never had symptoms prior to25weeks pregnant.
Make a pillow fortress around you. My husband bought me a pregnancy pillow like this: https://www.amazon.com/PharMeDoc-Pregnancy-Maternity-Detachable-Extension/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=pregnancy+pillow&qid=1606511011&sr=8-5
Forces me to stay put. I put my flat pillow in the middle and have it all around me
Aren't you a sweetie! My husband bought this pregnancy pillow and it's AMAZING and a must have.
It was this one, which I've seen posts about how it's the best pillow! So I was very disappointed
I purchased the PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow on Amazon in my 6th week. Yes, it's early, but I'm a heavy back sleeper and my uterus felt weirdly tingly and painful on my back so I'm forced to sleep on my sides. No more muscle pain and interrupted sleep. The pillow is cushy and "hugs" you on both sides - I feel like I'm being cuddled and its so comforting. I also use it while I'm sitting and fold one "arm" over me to place my laptop. It's very multi-purpose!
What really helped me was a u-shaped body pillow I found on Amazon. If you don't want to spend money on one you can always surround yourself with pillows for support.
I use this pregnancy pillow where one end zips off (forming an L shape) and I love it. I also prefer my regular pillow for my head so I just use it upside down which works great! An added benefit to this method is that you have something between your thighs and ankles so your hips stay super aligned.
I chose the detachable kind so I wouldn’t have to feel trapped in a pillow all night knowing I’ll have to get up to pee at least a few times. Now that I’m 21 weeks I sometimes add the other half on to keep me from rolling onto my back (I’m a natural back sleeper) which also works well.
PharMeDoc pregnancy pillow from Amazon!
It has a washable cover and the one side can be taken off if you don't want the U shape all the time. I take it off every once in a while so I can still cuddle with my boyfriend.

I was told repeatedly that all prenatals give essentially the same amount of benefit.
I got a pregnancy pillow and it was honestly a godsend. I couldn’t sleep comfortably without it through my second trimester. (https://www.amazon.com/PharMeDoc-Pregnancy-Maternity-Detachable-Extension/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=pregnancy+pillows&qid=1600865041&sprefix=pregnancy+pillow&sr=8-3)
Also things to have: Tylenol, Tylenol PM, Pepcid, Tums, and B6+Unisom for nausea. Definitely not daily needs but she’ll be happy it’s there when she needs it.
Hi! Also a STM who did not have a fancy pillow the first go around. After a good viability ultrasound I said I was treating myself this time and I have not been disappointed.
I got a u-shape. This one PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
So far it’s great and I feel really supported. Besides waking up to pee it’s been amazing sleep. I took the extra part off for now, I have a feeling I will need it later but I love the versatility with this. My best friend has the same one she’s 5 months PP and says she still uses the smaller piece for support in their recliner.
First of all, sorry that you’re dealing with heartburn. I’m 33w now and heartburn also started at week 5.
I bought this and used a thin pillow under that for more support. I liked that it’s detachable and easy to remove cover and clean. Also price is good when you compare to other stuff.
Hope this helps!
My boyfriend just bought me this one, and it's pretty great. Absolutely no smell at all. The only thing that somewhat bothers me is the little zipper part (it's there so you can remove the other side of the pillow), but overall it's nice that's a feature because it's more versatile that way. It's not too huge, and I can use it with or without another pillow for my head depending on how propped up I want to be.
I went with this one! It's supposed to arrive today 🤞
A pregnancy pillow will definitely help! I'm only 15 weeks along, but I've needed mine for a while already. I got a Pharmedoc pillow off Amazon after several people on here suggested it.
I ordered the pharmedoc I shaped pillow from amazon and it’s awesome! I got the u shaped one that has a detachable long piece that you can use to put under your knees or use to prop a book/laptop in your lap or use to help with supporting baby when nursing once they arrive. Here is the link. PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, U-Shape Full Body Maternity Pillow - Support Detachable Extension https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EZejFbP9D2EY9
Also, it’s reasonably priced and doesn’t take up the bed. My husband is already plotting to steal it from me once I have the baby.
I got this one from Amazon: PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow, Grey... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I got the same: pillow is the one I bought. $40 USD on Amazon
I had seen it recommended a few times here.

Of course!
I had my surgery in Dec. and I'm still using this pillow to sleep. I love it so much! There isn't a need anymore. It is just comfy!
Im using thisthis
I have the pregnancy pillow wedge into a corner of a high loveseat, then a throw pillow in front of that for my low back. Then I have a king pillow behind my head. I wrap the looser arm of the pregnancy pillow around my waist like a seatbelt. Then I have a pillow under my knees. (My legs are supported by an ottoman.) on top of that I have an un zipped puffy sleeping bag, and then another king pillow across my lap. This has helped me sleep sitting up which has helped a lot with gas.

Based on reviews, I went with this one: pregnancy pillow I will let you know how it is when it’s fully puffed up/ready to go! :)
I have this one . I’m 5’8” though so I don’t have that problem! It is a very big thing to have in bed. We have a king so it’s fine for us!
I just posted this in another comment but thought it might help you too —
That's where I have my pain too (or at least the pain that keeps me up at night) and I've tried tons of pillows, mattresses, and mattress covers — seriously they're taking up two closets. I've had this set up for about six months now, and I'm finally getting quality sleep again —
I love that it's detachable so it still works if I have want to stretch out, plus it's cotton, so it's not hot like memory foam. Also the customer service was great. I had a zipper break on one part after a couple of months, and they sent me a whole new cover within a couple days. The zipper is covered up pretty well if it's attached, but I put a second cover over it since I mostly use mine separated.
Best pillow for side and back sleeping
This pillow has made the most difference for me, it can be turned around for different levels depending on where my pain is, and it offers a lot of support without being stiff. The little "wings" on the side are really nice if you're sleeping on the side with a body pillow because I can put the body pillow up against the lower wing and have continuous support for my back, makes it a lot easier to relax my muscles. Also, the shape of the pillow really helps keep your neck/spine in a good position, so I don't wake up stiff or in pain like I used to. It does a good job of staying cool and has held up really well.
And I know you didn't ask about mattresses, but I really didn't realise how much mine was affecting me until I replaced it. I tried a few, and none of them worked, but someone recommended this one on r/mattresses, and I'm absolutely in love with it. I have never considered a latex mattress because I'm mildly allergic to latex, but they have a 4 month trial period so I thought I'd give it a try since it's got several layers of covering. It's firm but lightly molds itself to my body without the heat of memory foam, and latex is much more resistant to losing its shape/firmness (that's why the warranties are always so long), which is definitely good for people with chronic illness who might spend more time in bed/don't feel up to rotating their mattresses. I ended up getting a full 10in hybrid (the one I linked), but there was a better deal on their website (30% off and no tax unless you live in Virginia) so it only cost me $320, and they put me in contact with a company to pick up my old mattress. From what I've heard they're really good about returns, and they'll also send layers of latex or memory foam if you find the mattress uncomfortable or if yours is starting to wear. Personally I adjusted a few nights though and did great was just the pillow and the mattress for the first time in years. I still have to get out the body pillow sometime, but it's still a lot better than my giant nest of pillows from before.
My gf bought a pregnancy pillow shaped kinda like a question mark and when she’s not home I use it to take naps. It’s fucking amazing. This should work: https://www.amazon.com/PharMeDoc-Pregnancy-Maternity-Detachable-Extension/dp/B07JR3T1G6/

I got a Pharmedoc pillow after someone else sang its praises here. It has really helped my lower back pain. I love it!
So I have two pillows that have helped me and I rotate between depending on what's annoying me the most that day. When it's my neck/headaches/migraines I use this pillow
And most of the time, when it's an issue with my arms, back or legs I use this U shaped pregnancy pillow. It's awesome if you sleep in the fetal position because you can have pillow up against your back and one between your knees and I like that you can sit up and use the side pillow to lean your arms on when reading or on your phone.
This got me through...so comfy!
