I'm not an audiophile, so I don't quite know the specs. But I do know the headset is a Plantronics GameCom 788 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plantronics-GameCom-788-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00LNJZTTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485192073&sr=8-1&keywords=Plantronics+GameCom+788) and my speakers are Logitech Z333. All drivers are up to date.
I have Plantronics Gamecom 780, they have lasted me 3 years now, the mic quality is clear as day. They're comfy as fuck and sound great.
These are sold as a gaming headset and with this "7.1 surround".
There is a significant difference between having the surround sound turned off and turned on. It can sound weird at first like the sound is everywhere but a couple of seconds later and turning it back off sound horrible.
Whether it is truly surround or not doesn't matter, the difference of having that setting turned on is amazing, all sound quality gets better and I definitely prefer them to using speakers for something such as overwatch because I am immersed by the sound and i can track footsteps because I can hear where they're coming from.
For anyone wanting a cheap gaming headset, at least in the UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plantronics-GameCom-788-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00LNJZTTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481560482&sr=8-1&keywords=plantronics+788
I believe theres a problem with Windows 10, you have to open the file and install with a different setup, if anyone needs help with this. Ping me a message. for google: Platronics 788 wont install windows 10.
Not really no. I have these headsets. I dont use any of that razer software stuff so.. that might be your issue?
These ones are a close-second place https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-788-Headset-201270-05/dp/B00LNJZTTY
They at least were big enough to fit somewhat comfortably but they squeezed my head like a vice so I ended up selling em(can't return a prize after all).
This plantronics headset is the newer version of the old 780 which I have, very comfortable, good mic, virtual surround sound is not as good as actual surround, but better than stereo
Most gaming headsets are very similar in quality below £80. I would recommend the HyperX cloud 2's but they aren't that cheap. For a cheap pair I would say these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plantronics-GameCom-788-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00LNJZTTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444924176&sr=8-1&keywords=plantronics+gamecom+788 I've heard good things about them.
I have the Plantronics Gamecome 780. This is the newer model of it, pretty cheap. It has "7.1 Surround", which is actually emulated surround sound although at this price point it's pretty damn good.
Yes via audio settings.
