Every other filter I have is huge and expensive, but most importantly very effective. I wanted to put a filter on this 50gal so I was just like, "what the hell, let's try." Updates will come in a week or so.

These ones in my experience run super quiet and have quite a high gph for their price. And a UV sterilizer never hurts.
I've purchased quite a few for different set ups. I purchased my first one when my oscar was suffering from HITH. And it really helped me keep my water clean. Only one has died on me (though I blame covid since I was stuck away from my house for a week while it ran dry).
I like that the filter baskets are pretty customizable. I typically run filter sponges mechanical and seachem matrix for beneficial bacteria. My only gripe would be the outlet tube isn't very adjustable and tends to rest kind of high in the tank so if your water level starts to get a little low you hear the water exiting.

Just get a canister filter with a UV light, the 370gph is fine, could go 525 if your tank is higher than 4' off the ground. You need multiple things that you can't get by adding a second HOB filter, so rather, run the HOB (Seachem Tidal 55) and then supplement it with the Polar Aurora 370gph.
Those use standard $10 UV bulbs you can buy online or at any hardware store, it'll come with one but you'll want to replace it once a year. I personally use a $5 bag of lava rock as my filter media (Home Depot and Lowes have it) but the kits come with at least some media to get you started, and you can always load it up with filter floss to get the uh, poop situation, under control.
when you do upgrade your fish tank it may be wise to get a canister filter. You can get a polar aurora same as a susun and they are like $60 way better than the filters inside or hang on the back filters.
