Just adding to the list, These (http://www.amazon.com/POURfect-Mixing-Bowls-1015-1-2-4-6-8-12/dp/B003UKBHKO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1464894724&sr=8-3&keywords=pourfect+mixing+bowls) are literally the best mixing bowels ever. They can go in the microwave and can stand up to a huge amount of abuse. Plus, they pour.
EDIT: also you'll need knives. I would find someone in your circle with access to a restaurant supply store and go with Wüstolph Pro line, they're really cheap (around $20 for a 12" chef's) and can take a beating like an angry wolf high on PCP.
