Not exactly breaking the bank money for a spare.
And repairs/warranties are a thing.
Zero excuses.
The PowerA Spectra Infinity is cheap and really good. I'm not usually a RGB guy, but I like the lighting on this one. You can map the two buttons on the back, and can customize how far back you can pull the triggers. It's currently on sale for $40 (11% off) on Amazon and there seems to be a coupon for another $2 off. I would highly recommended it.
I second this. I have an older iteration of this one
Been going strong for about 2 years. Genuine Xbox controllers have been shit to me and they cost almost twice as much.
These are third party but still plug and play and have some extra bells and whistles to boot.
Sorry to hear that. I picked up a cheaper, 3rd party controller as a backup in the end as it took forever for the replacement to arrive. It's wired, but this wasn't all that bad:

Pretty lights, back triggers and travel distance tweaking on main triggers too...!
I know its late, but in case anyone stumbles upon this before the new game comes out, I just ordered and received a 3rd party controller today and it has worked amazingly for pinpoint pitching. I went from 40% AT BEST with the splitter to my worst being 78%. I'm also able to finish all of my releases on my pitches, when I was lucky to get one an AB with the OG Xbox Series X/S controller. I got mine on Amazon for $40 and its the PowerA Spectra Infinity Enhanced Wired Controller for Xbox Series X|S

Have a look at this one. I’ve personally also been through a good amount of official controllers including the new one and an elite controller series 2. So I understand the struggle, trust me.
They’ve all had issues ranging from stick-drift, buttons becoming unresponsive, and some had the port get fucked. But the biggest from was my elite controller that broke in 5 months, with a dead B button. A £150 controller.
Whilst I can’t speak to the lifetime of this PowerA controller as it’s a recent purchase, it’s remarkably similar to the feel of elite controller in hand, it feels fantastic. The big difference for me is the price, which is £30-£40 depending on model, because if I have to replace it in less than a year anyway I’m not going to pay £55 every time.
The model I linked you has a microphone volume vial, trigger locks (that don’t behave well in games where the triggers mirror a pedal, such as racing games, but is good for shooters), two programmable buttons on the back, and programmable RGB (which is done ridiculously well, watch some videos on it). It’s £35 right now in the UK, it’s been good to me so far. It feels like an official xbox controller in every aspect.
Hopefully that’s useful!
This is a third party based on the xbox series xController controller. On the unteeseite kanman adjust the leds. It also has 2 mappable gaming buttons and 3 way trigger locks.
PowerA Spectra Infinity Enhanced... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095JNZGC4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I’m using this one, I tried with a normal controller and now it’s working fine
Sure, this one

Can turn off or change the rgb colours too
PowerA Xbox Series X controllers have 2 remappable buttons too for $30. Best money I ever spent after returning 4 different Series 2 controllers that were faulty right out of the box. They also have a pro version for $90. In case this doesn't work out for you. I find returning to Amazon is way better than dealing with SCUF customer service.
