Those are toe inserts for hockey skates to take away the vertical room in the toe box. It sticks to the inside of the boot, worked really well for me once when I bought the wrong size skates.
I can't speak to how well they work because they haven't arrived yet, but I just ordered these based on the recommendation from someone else in this sub. Basically you put them on the top portion of the toe box and it makes the skates more snug and responsive. they're made for hockey players but supposedly they work great for quads as well!
They look a bit too long, but if you size down, they might be too narrow?
If the width and everything else is just right, you could try those little foam things at the toe. I actually got some Powerfoot hockey inserts for my RB Maxxums and they totally did the trick (I had too much room in the toe box but everywhere else is perfect).
I have totally flat feet and I forget who recommended them but someone in another thread linked to these hockey inserts that go in the toe of the boot. I think the other thread was asking about too-big boots, but they're perfect for me because my flat feet cause balance issues. When I walk, my stride is incorrect so I curl my toes to prevent myself from falling. This is fine (well, it's not, but y'know) when I'm walking in my regular shoes but it causes pain when I'm roller skating because my foot is trying to curl around something for balance and it cramps.
Cue the little hockey insert thing that smushes my toes flat. It's weird, but it entirely fixed the problem.
If any of that mess sounds familiar, maybe try those?
Check out my post from yesterday - I just got these skates and wrote quite about about my sizing issues.
Basically, these skates run about 1/2 US size (whatever that equate to in mm) small.
Example:My foot measures exactly 23.0cm. I wear a US size 6, and an EU size 36/37 (mfrs vary on this). SO many reviews said to order a full size up (in US sizes), so my first pair were US size 7. Those were WAY too big for me.
What I ended up with were US size 6.5 / 23.5 CM / UK 4.5 / EU 37.So, I went up 1/2 US size, 1/2 CM. No idea on the UK size, and for most EU sizes, up 1 size, but in other EU-sized shoes, no adjustment at all.
My toes *just* touch the tip of the boot when my foot is relaxed. When I"m skating, however, my toes tend to curl a little bit and I almost think I could've just gotten my regular size and been OK. They would've felt too short at first, but might have been just right when I'm skating. Because I have a narrow-ish foot, there is a lot of extra room in the toe box for me - side-to-side and above my toes, whereas the heel and ankle feel very good and supported. I'm getting a pair of these to help with xtra space in the toe box.
One thing you might want to take into consideration is there is really no padding at the tip of the boot to "break in." All of the padding that's going to "pack out" as you wear them basically start from the mid-foot and back through the cuff.
Another thing - I got a pair of green Superfeet and they feel great in these (I have high arches).
HTH - good luck!
