The idea of a linear combination of vectors is pretty important. And it features in both linear independence and span, and by extension, basis.
I think if you understand that, and get a good understanding of a vector, you should have an easier time with those concepts. There's software that could be helpful too, like GeoGebra.
Some people have found this book useful as a complement: https://www.amazon.com/Practical-Linear-Algebra-Geometry-Toolbox-ebook/dp/B00EYRGIBA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1474040573&sr=8-3&keywords=graphic+linear+algebra
It is very geometrical, almost to a fault :)
