Cuts down on accidents for hauling and doesn’t cause as much drag. You will need a rain proof bag for it though: $40 at Walmart.
If not, look at a roof top carrier. You will still need cross bars for this one, so the price goes up even further. This one has the bag with it.

The reason I like both of these is because they are loads more versatile than the roof box.
