I’ve experimented with this kind of rig and had reasonable success. I had the right chair to accept them though.

These are what I used, but since they are sold out, just search for “VESA pole mount”.
Used “industrial strength” Velcro to affix them.
Ty!
So it's actually a pole grip VESA mount. I took a small piece of wood, wide enough to fit both devices and painted it. They're both attached to that piece of wood that is screwed into those VESA holes. I just angled it to face straight up. It's attached to the desk leg right there.

Looks like it's not available but that's the type of product I used.
For what it's worth, that's exactly what my solution is and it amounted to just under $34 per VESA mount plus $9 for way more industrial-strength velcro tape than I needed (for easily velcroing the stick and throttle to the mounts and then off the mounts). It looks like the price is down to less than $31 from Amazon at the moment. Or is the issue that you're being price-gouged in the UK?
The VESA mounts are removable from the chair, but it takes a couple minutes to deal with the four screws on the pair, and so I often find myself just taking the stick and throttle off (yay velcro) and just rotating the mounts to the sides of the chair. It's the most goldilocks solution I've found for my current setup.
I just set my Hotas 4 on a computer chair with 2 of these:
And then I used heavy duty Velcro to attach each side of the Hotas to the mounts. The wire between the two halves is long enough for this set up. I'm loving it!
Edit: your chair has to have arms for these to clamp to.
pretty sure people get these
edit: didn't fully read your post: people attach these tho their chairs, not their desks
I personally think this is a better version of those mounts and they are in stock. It has an extra joint for more adjustments.
a good thing i have seen ppl use is those swivel monitor mounts like this that with a wider aluminum plate attached and some industrial velcro should work wonders
I think this is the VESA the guy is talking about:
Just be forewarned, your arm supports might be set a little far back.
It's just a regular office chair I got from amazon with some swivel mounts clamped around the front of the arm rest. I used 2 of these:

Sorry for the link gore, I'm on mobile and can't remember the proper link format. I used industrial strength velcro to attach the throttle and stick to the mounts, and ran the connecting cable back behind the chair. The mounts are great, I can easily leave the HOTAS mounted and swivel it out of the way when I'm not using it.
Flight assist off is really only for making really tight turns. I personally use a mouse and keyboard and just have it set to toggle.
And I want a Hotas so bad :(
Also I've seen people use these to attach to a chair.
I use an office chair with this clamped to the arm and an aluminum mousepad attached to it for the mouse, and then a tenkeyless keyboard on my lap. Works really well.
says they are in stock. Thanks for the idea!
These things are sold out everywhere I look now, however, these are very similar and as of this post are still available.

in the same situation pretty much. Ordered a vive, gettin things ready for next month. I'm gonna grab two of these to just mount onto the arms of my chair. I'm unsure at the moment what setup im going with though. was thinking about the x52 pro. After reading around though i kind of want to go for the t-16000m.
Does anyone know if a x52 pro throttle works fine with the t-16000m? If thats the case i think thats how im gonna do it. Can pickup the x52 throttle on ebay for around 50$ it looks like. So could get the setup for under 100$
Those are the ones I got, The mount around the arm-supports of my chair, and I use one of the hinges to make the bracket parallel to the floor. (Those hinges are what I loosen to spin the stick and falcon out of the way when not in use)
They also have some with more hinges/gimbals if you need to get more rotation/length out of the mount.
EDIT: I should say, it took a bit of drilling to put screw-holes in the right places on the X-65f mount-plate. And the Falcon is attached a bit more... sketchy. It's a heavy bastard and took a bit of futzing to work, but that's also the reason I still have that big wide "foot" still on it too, best mounting support without damaging the Falcon's body.
> Bought them off Amazon. ~~There's a link on another comment in this post.~~
EDIT: Misread the subreddit indicator. I bought these and made an adapter out of paperboard scrap I had laying around for the HOTAS to bolt to.
E:D is pretty amazing in the VR; the only complaint I have is the screen door effect is very obvious.
Thanks man, the stand is just a basic speaker stand that I put together. It's a Sanus WSS2-B1 model that I bought from Bestbuy for about $100. The clamp on the stand was bought from Amazon (Bracket Pole Mount VESA75/100) about $80-$90 for a pair http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PZDB2HM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
The silver platform is 2 pieces of plywood painted and drilled onto the brackets then tapped for extra security. And the Hotas is a Saitek X52 for $150. Here's a link on another post where I listed my entire setup if you want to see it all https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/4a9be9/post_pictures_of_your_vr_computer/. There's a lot of good setup there that others have posted as well.
What you need build this :
From Wheel Stand Pro (http://www.wheelstandpro.com)
Wheel Stand Pro for Thrustmaster HOTAS WARTHOG™ and Saitek X-55, X52/Pro - Deluxe V2 http://wheelstandpro.com/products/wheel-stand-pro-for-thrustmaster-hotas-warthog--deluxe-v2 By default this ships with the standard plate for side-by-side mounting of the TM HOTAS Warthog. If you want to a center stick mount like mine you'll need to write a comment with your order and tell them you want it with the small center stick mount.
Wheel Stand Pro RGS Module upgrade http://wheelstandpro.com/products/rgs-module-upgrade
To mount the throttle to the RGS mount, you'll need :
From Amazon (or electronics parts shop ie Farnell)
Bracket Pole Mount VESA75/100 https://www.amazon.com/Bracket-Pole-Mount-VESA75-100/dp/B00PZDB2HM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470999413&sr=8-1 This is to mount the throttle to the RGS module.
3M Dual Lock tape https://www.amazon.com/3M-Dual-Lock-Reclosable-Fastener/dp/B007OXK1AK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1470999548&sr=8-4
If you have access to a workshop, you can also fabricate an adapter with a piece of sheet metal to mount the throttle to the RGS module instead of the VESA mount.
Depends on what kind of chair you have, but I just bought 2 of these and attached them with Velcro strips: Pro Signal Bracket Pole Mount VESA75/100 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PZDB2HM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FoFfFbBX3BG9R
I have something similar, i used drawer slides and made a flat platform the slides out from under my desk, and then attached a short pipe to the bottom, i then used a similar monitor mount like the one u linked but slightly different i will link below. I then made mounting platforms that i then screwed the hotas into.

Here was what I used before I got a sim cockpit.
I got you bro Amazon link Search for pole mounted vesa adapters you might be able to get something cheaper or lower profile.
Just a VESA pole mount that I put velcro strips on. Would honestly prefer a solid desk mount, but that requires a non-glass desk, which I'm building, but isn't near completion yet. Here's a link to the mounts I use, bought them off of amazon:
They've done me well for the past few years. Solid cheap mounting option IMO.
I picked this Pole mount up in mid 2016 to mount my joystick to the front of the arm of my chair. I just tilted the head up and used some pretty serious velcro to attach the throttle. I ahvent removed the pole mount from my chair since I put it on, and found it has REALLY held up well through thousands of hours of use bing smashed into the desk and through two home moves as well.
I find side to be FAR more comfortable to me... and it feels more natural in space sims...
I've seen it done two ways one mounted to the chair using clamps.

Here are the clamps he used.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PZDB2HM?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
The other I believe removed the arms on their chair and 3d printed new ones with a mount for their HOTAS.

A pole mounting bracket.
There are many, many options, searching amazon for "vesa pole mount" should give you plenty of choices like this one
You want to look at VESA mounts, assuming your monitor/TV does have the VESA holes. But any flatscreen should have them these days.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Display_Mounting_Interface
*something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Bracket-Pole-Mount-VESA75-100/dp/B00PZDB2HM
Make sure to not blindly buy this, I just took the first one as example.
You could also use these or similar mounts, attach them to your seat and tilt them upwards. like this you get a nicely placed surface for your sticks (sts).
Kind of like this setup.
I think the best solutions right now are:
HOTAS VESA Mount

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5xeDbYrp74

HOTAS Ikea stand
found them on amazon here
These ones are a few dollars more expensive, and most of the reviews are about using them to mount HOTAS to a chair for ED...
If your chair has fairly thin arm rests you can maybe pick up a couple of these VESA mounts and use some velcro strips to hold them down.
Looks good. I've been thinking about using a couple of these attached to my chair's arms as a solution. I don't know if it will work, though, as the chair in question has kind of odd arms.
Ok if you want to take a glance at my idea and tell me if it's ludicrous or not, and bear with the terrible art, here's the basic idea.
Basically get two 5 ft pipes, cut them into four 2 ft sections and use the two spare 1 ft sections as a stabilizer since I don't plan on getting pedals. The mounts I have in mind are 2 of these VESA Pole Mounts. The goal being to have the ability to use two Thrustmaster T16000M in both a palms down or upright position.
I just found this thread in my quest to mount my HOTAS to my Herman Miller aeron... These brackets are available on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Bracket-Pole-Mount-VESA75-100/dp/B00PZDB2HM (I don't have a solution for my aeron yet...)
