Ya these are not safe. Something like this however should be more than adequate. I have that one and it came with a couple hooks to put on the other side of the door if you didn't have any crown molding to hook it onto.
Barring a catastrophic metal failure (or the crown molding not being nailed in) that thing isn't going anywhere.
