The 'walls of text' are arguments. If you don't feel compassion for the people involved, they will seem like walls of text.
If a person felt genuine compassion for the people involve and thought about how they got there, it would interfere with your ability to get pleasure in the situation. To get pleasure, you have to dehumanize the people involved.
