Don't @ me but you better check with your landlord first. I would keep your entire deposit if I had to come back and fix the damage you would cause.
Also, would there even be enough clearance for your head? You might be better off getting one of those door jamb chin-up bars and just bending your legs. No damage. Does the job.
I had a tension one and it fell. but after that I had the other style that uses leverage and it works perfect!!
like this (sorry for linking Amazon Canada I'm on my phone and everything redirects me to the Canada site in the app): https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01N2HAQEE/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_P7DQBAGA4TVRSY9KK1FP
I know it's not the same, but maybe checkout bodyweight exercises. You can also check out pull-up bars that you can hook onto a door frame like this.
Initially I preferred going to a gym to separate the spaces of home and work-out activities, but then I started to appreciate the time saved and convenience of not having to drive/pay for something I can do myself. I've also been slowly investing in a home gym but I understand that's not a possibility for everyone.
Hope it works out for you
Oh, too short, not too long. I wouldn't have expected that. By how much?
You don't mention the design. Does it screw into the door frame, or is it one of these: https://www.amazon.com/pull-doorway-Heavy-Duty-trainer/dp/B01N2HAQEE/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=exercise-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1505309166&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=pull+up+bar&psc=1?
If the latter, maybe you could buy some pipe at the hardware store to extend the bar a little on each end, or build out a spot on the door frame to make it narrower where it needs to be.
I've used this guy for ages and haven't slipped once and I weight about 200 lbs. You could probably hang rings off of that but I've never used rings before...
Alternatively, you could invest in this dude. I had something similar to this for a long time, but just now realized I mounted the pullup bar the wrong way. It's pretty sturdy, but I wouldn't do sit ups with this, it's not that heavy either.
weird, I get a lot of relevant results using “tension pull up bar”. Here’s one from amazon though:
