Right. I know I need the special cable. I’m asking about something called a wall box. I want to know if I can plug directly into a 240V outlet without having a wallbox. Hyundai’s videos make it sound like a wall box is necessary

Mine lasted 3 months. Seems a pretty common problem with the unit overheating and limiting charging ability (amber light, no blinking blue light). My dealer said EVSEs weren't a part of the vehicle and NOT covered under the warranty.
I'd recommend installing a NEMA 14-50 in your garage and purchasing a third party charger. I have the Wallbox Pulsar Plus and couldn't recommend it enough.
FYI - They make L2 40A chargers with wifi that uses a NEMA plug so it doesn’t have to be hardwired.
We’re waiting for our electrician but this is the one we bought:

My fav is you can change the amperage remotely so if you NEED a lower charge rate, you can
I looked at those options along with charge point flex, ended up with

My pops and I both bought this for our R4P's and have zero complaints. It plugs into my 50amp Nema 14-50. #DoIt
I move every 3 years because of the military so I bought this wall charger since it'd be much easier to move around the country.

Just a thought if you don't want to go the hardwired route.
Wallbox ... I got one for my upcoming Rivian R1S ... wanted to take advantage of the tax credit for this year. Tested it out, works well and has App control and scheduling. $599 on Amazon. ... WallBox Pulsar Plus
The Wallbox Pulsar Plus Level 2 is officially recommended by Volkswagen as an alternative to the EA Level 2 charger and has a NEMA 14-15 plug on it. I have a customer that lives in an RV park and we came up with that charger as a solution. I haven't heard back from the customer to confirm that it works at the RV park but this might be the best option and is recommended by VW.
Wallbox pulsar plus. No complaints, it works great.

If you want a fancy one I bought a wallbox pulsar plus and really like it.
I really like my Wallbox Pulsar Plus. Customer service is excellent. Personally I would choose a UL compliant EVSE (aka. charger) because it will draw continuous amperage for hours. I do not believe the Lectron EVSEs are UL compliant. The Shell Recharger 120-240v 40A Portable Charger is UL compliant (tested by SGS to have met UL standards). I use this as my travel charger.
Like others have said increase your amperage from 20A to 50-60A if you can that way you can charge up fully overnight when you have a low charge, say after a road trip. I have also heard good things about the Emporia Energy Smart EV Charger.
I like my Wallbox Pulsar Plus. Has Bluetooth for local control and also Wifi. Monthly firmware updates. Small size.

Unfortunately most of the reputable ones are more expensive than Tesla's offerings. If I had to buy a non-Tesla unit, I'd probably buy this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H2LYFHX/?th=1
For portable ones there's this - https://www.amazon.com/SHELL-Electric-Vehicle-Charging-Compatible/dp/B08ZHMLP8B/
No discounts on that one currently, but I have seen it sell for the mid 300s in the past.
Anything cheaper appears not to be UL listed.
Couple of options.
This first one appears to allow daisy chaining of chargers on the same plug and is intelligent enough not to overload your circuit.

This one is a single charger that has two hookups.

Had this plugged into a 50 amp and it has been great! My pops got one for his R4P and neither of us have any complaints
I bought this one, it works great, no complaints. It also lets you schedule charges (which is great, considering the car's built in scheduling feature is broken).
You can either use it with a NEMA 14-50 outlet, or have an electrician hardwire it.
