As an ex-JW, it took years after leaving for me to recognize the deity of Jesus.
What helped was reading the New Testament and seeing how it speaks about Jesus. The entire book of John, is especially helpful. Special chapters in John are 1, 5, 12 and 20.
John 1 speaks of the Word (being God) coming and putting on flesh to live amongst us. John 5 where the Son says we must honour the Son in the same way as the Father. Jesus also holds the power of judgement and forgiveness of sins, which in a Jewish mind is a clear responsibility and mark of deity. John 12 where the writer speaks of the prophet Isaiah seeing the glory of Jesus in Isaiah 6, where the only glory seen is the glory of Yahweh. John 20 where one of the apostles calls Jesus himself God (20:28).
Or Luke chapters 1-3, (Luke 1:76) where John the Baptist was to go before, or in advance of Yahweh to prepare His way. This is in reference to the coming of Jesus. This preparation is actually mentioned at the stary of all 4 gospels in reference to a prophecy in Isaiah 40:1-3.
The true identity and nature of Jesus is at least in part revealed to us by God the Father. I'd suggest praying to God for assistance to showing you who Jesus really is.
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

Also read the epistles of the New Testament, where it quotes and references the Old Testament in relation to Yahweh and applies them to Jesus. This occurs many, many times.
One other book that was helpful to me was "Putting Jesus in His Place: The Case for the Deity of Christ" by Robert Bowman.
