We had something like that for awhile. I had it set up to post to Facebook when we were low on eggs. It also texted my husband. We stopped using it because it ate batteries and stopped being funny after awhile.
Oh, and NAH.
Well, it is a wifi enabled egg carton. So I doubt it will receive high reviews.
Quirky's Eggminder was pretty dumb. The Amazon questions, answers and reviews are hilarious, though.

I do remember a "smart" egg holder....

Aha:

Used to be like $50 if I remember.
Edit:
Reading the reviews, what a train wreck. "Premium subscription is REQUIRED to use this product" -- you pay $5 per month for it....
That's just silly. But being able to check how many eggs you have at home via app is essential.
My smart egg tray with wifi connectivity IS NOT unnecessary. It sends reminders to my phone when I need eggs. I don't know how I ever lived without it.
IOT egg tray. Because IOT.

Well, my fridge doesn't send me emails, but my friend has one of these stupid things that lets him check how many eggs he has on his phone.
It looks like GE has taken care of the appliances:
I couldn't find a microwave though.
Don't forget an egg tray for the refrigerator either!
I'm having some issues formatting but I definitely agree that sources need to be cited. So here is my best shot at it.

Also I'm from the NYC startup scene, most people here know this since they have so many networked friends. It's hard to hide the truth via the fictitious glass door and phony online reviews.
Here is an interesting product. It's being discounted because no one will buy it. Horrible idea, doesn't work because A) it's in a fridge aka faraday cage, B) the cold temp is bad for the battery chemistry, C) the battery life is only a few weeks. http://www.amazon.com/Egg-Minder-Wink-App-Enabled-Smart/dp/B00GN92KQ4
Here is another article. Wasn't even that hard to find. In fact it's on quirky. http://community.quirky.com/t/i-hate-to-blame-ben-kaufman-but/1465
