If not, just get an 270x, fits perfectly to your budget. Also, be sure to check if your PSU can deliver enough power to these graphics cards.
Thanks, any idea why there's such a huge price difference in 280s. This is the cheapest one I've seen, but a lot of others go past the £200 mark. Does this one have less features or power?
Gone up in Price by £10 since the other day but still a good deal considering the price of the X version
That's the same thing I found on hwcompare's results. So getting a CX500M PSU and the R9 270X should be ok? What about getting the R9 280? It costs an extra £7 to get the R9 280 compared to the R9 270X from Saphire. Would I need a better PSU for that?
As an FYI, the R9 280 is on sale on Amazon for £129. I would highly recommend trying to find the extra £29 to get that card, huge improvement over something like a 260x/270 for only a tenner more
280 in question;
I'd get a 280 instead. It's considerably faster and only 13 pounds more. Other than that, the build looks good.
Is there any reason for this R9 280 being about £10 cheaper than any other 280 on pcpartpicker? That one also doesn't show up on pcpartpicker, and I thought that Sapphire was one of the better brands for AMD cards? Forgive me if that's wrong though!
Also, what kind of performance can I expect from a 280, and how long is it going to be able to keep up with newer games at high settings?
£140 new.
Considering that Maxwell is still on 28nm and yields are fantastic at this point, nVidia's price per mm^2 of die is really just gouging at this point
Can you link me to the correct drivers for this GPU http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IRTXPBM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Thanks for your advice. After searching "r9 280" on Amazon I found quite a few cards. I take it they are the same card, just different manufacturers or something? I'm not quite sure how that works.
For example:
SAPPHIRE AMD R9 280 Graphics Card (3GB, DDR5)
Sounds like a plan. I'm thinking about this one - Sapphire AMD R9 280
~~Or the Gigabyte one~~ - too long I think.

Would this one be slightly better? As 280x > 270x but it doesn't say boost
Realistically you're gonna have a much better time if you can push the budget up to the mid-£100s
Unfortunately, I can't get one of those :P ! See the thing is, If i was gonna spend £230 on a graphics card, I'd probably go for a 970 just cause it beats 290 and is near silent. Also, you're comparing the cheapest 290 to the most expensive 280 if you compare the cheapest 280 for £132 and the cheapest 290 for £230 then theres quite the price difference.
I'm not overly concerned about rendering speed, since it isn't too important to me, but I'll have a look at the 860k. Was this the GPU that you were referring to?
Storage wise, I have only used up 118GB in 3 years on my laptop (then again, I only installed a few games on it). I was thinking that I should get an SSD first and add a HDD later if I needed additional storage space. I suppose that due to this I could drop down to a 128GB SSD, such as the Crucial MX100 128GB and also get a Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM.
The 4440 is not being sold at the price quoted. Go with the 4460. Better CPU, and the price is essentially the same.
The RAM is also actually £83.50. It's sold from a third-party on Amazon that only has 3 lifetime reviews. Not exactly reputable. Although it seems like a great deal, if something goes wrong you're kinda screwed. Up to you. If you're only gaming then 8GB would be more than fine.
That graphics card is not sold by Aria. You'll need to pick another one, or source it from another site. I've added the Sapphire R9 280, but just for reference (and cos it's cheap). Feel free to look around for the one you want though.
Replaced the PSU with a much better one for the same price.
You don't need a sound card either.
Check out Flubit for ordering parts. They source from reputable places through Amazon/Ebuyer, and offer cheaper prices than anything on Amazon/Ebuyer. You'll save 10% off your total. Google them if you are at all worried about using them.

Better CPU/mobo. Optional better GPU.
I use Flubit for all my parts. It saves around 10%. Orders from Amazon/Ebuyer but is always cheaper than the best prices on them.
You're going to be paying shipping on some of these parts, and the prices aren't totally right. Check how much you can actually get things for, and then figure out the final build.

this is most likely the best GPU you can get in that budget.
I had a quick check and a lot of those prices are wrong, or don't include shipping. I changed them to accurately reflect what you will pay. It's almost exactly the same price as your original build.
Ignore the 2133 RAM. Just leave it clocked at 1600. It just happens to be cheaper, and faster than other RAM.
This GPU isn't on Partpicker, but it's great value.
Importantly, use Flubit. It sources from Amazon and Ebuyer to get cheaper prices for you. It's amazing. Use the money you save for a i5-4460. It's around £40 more, and you will definitely save that if you use Flubit for all parts, including the 4460.

This 280 could be put in the £400 build.
