No idea. I went the "traditional" route and went and got a degree in EE. You could start with a simple project like controlling an led with some kind of sensor.
Quick Google search came up with this: https://www.amazon.com/Raspberry-Projects-Dummies-Mike-Cook/dp/1118766695. No idea if it's any good.
