I doubt people will agree with me but I bought the Razor Viper Lighweight Wireless mouse a while back and after using a Lot of mice. This one’s pretty fuckin great for the price.

Don’t worry about input lag, you absolutely won’t notice anything. I play a decent amount of csgo and I’ve never felt anything weird about it. Super light and battery lasts ages (with the rgb off). It’s not a budget mouse for sure but for $80 it’s worth it imo.

I assume by "not powered by batteries" you are talking like AA or AAA.

Assuming so, most quality wireless mice will be usable while plugged in as well. With pricing being a concern, the Razer Viper Ultimate at $70 on Amazon right now (link) is a banger.

My daily driver is a Logitech G Pro x Superlight but can't recommend it in good conscience with money being a factor.

I own the Razer Viper Ultimate, primarily use it at work, on my laptop when travelling, and for a brief stint when my GPX was being replace.

The Viper is a great mouse. If you can get a good deal, the dock is worth it as well, but will add to the price.

The Glorious Model O- Wireless likely rounds out the trifecta, but I have not used this mouse personally. It comes highly recommended by others, I'd check out some youtube videos.

TLDR; My vote is a Razer Viper Ultimate.

I switched from one of these to a Viper Ultimate. Couldn't pay me to go back. I never had the double-click issue on the main 2 buttons but the side buttons had it real bad. Couldn't go back or forward 1 tab in chrome.

I don't really notice friction on my cord for my G502, but I also have it tied to the pole of one of my VESA mounts with plenty of slack so it's not catching the edge of my desk on a particularly hard mouse movement.

Also yeah, this would fit into "reasons one might prefer wireless mice" that I didn't elaborate on. The weight of wireless mice didn't really bug me, I just didn't want to deal with the charging and the added cost considering I have no complaints about my wired mouse. Just because it's not worth it to me doesn't mean it isn't an excellent purchase for you.

For wireless ambi, you're safe getting a Viper ultimate or a GPX. I loved my Viper ult and it would be my endgame if it was just a bit smaller. You can get a Viper without the dock for 100$.

You could get another Viper Ultimate for quite a bit cheaper ($70 on Amazon, $80 w/ charging dock, $10-20 less in "Used - Like New" condition from Amazon Warehouse). If you want to save even more, you could get your niece a Viper Mini ($25) or a DeathAdder v2 Mini ($20), depending on her grip preference.

I personally don't recommend Logitech's mice since they have yet to implement optical switches, which would eliminate the possibility of double clicks. If you do want to try a flagship Logitech mouse, the slightly-heavier G Pro Wireless is ~$75 NIB from various sellers on eBay.
