yo dude! i use this adapter off amazon its really affordable too, although if you're looking for higher quality there's more out there - this has done me brill tho :-) RCA to HDMI Converter, Amtake 1080P RCA Composite CVBS AV to HDMI Video Audio Converter Adapter Compatible with N64 PS2 Xbox VHS VCR Camera DVD, Support PAL/NTSC with USB Power Cable https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_1GCQ4V9GQ3SMK48BPC8W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I am currently using this:
I will try using it on another tf to see if it works.
You can get an adapter on amazon (this is the first one I found you might find one better with some searching). I've used one in the past and while there is some loss of quality, nothing too bad imo.
I personally have gotten controllers from thrift stores and occasionally collector game stores (for a lot more). Just make sure it has the OG plug not a USB plug.
RCA to HDMI adapters are out there and should be fairly easy to find, such as this one https://www.amazon.ca/Converter-Amtake-Composite-Adapter-Supporting/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=asc_df_B07MJTR9KS/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341799283848&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=149231860205779710&hvpone=&hvptwo=&am...)
Probably need something like this
RCA to HDMI Converter, Amtake 1080P RCA Composite CVBS AV to HDMI Video Audio Converter Adapter for PS2 Wii Xbox SNES N64 VHS VCR Camera DVD PC Laptop, Supporting PAL/NTSC with USB Charge Cable
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HpipDbQBC5RRG
If you find the vcr, it should have an RCA output.
Something like this might work, goodluck!
Why not just get an adapter and use a modern TV? Something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Amtake-Composite-Adapter-Supporting/dp/B07MJTR9KS/
This adapter is on sale right now super cheap and works like a charm for me when streaming retro. Works well with my HD60S+
RCA to HDMI Converter, Amtake... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MJTR9KS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
>https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_2JKD98RPNHVHDQQ6YC5S
I've heard they're usable but not really reliable. Idk if you have one and maybe give your opinion
Some TVs may have a smaller input for composite inputs (maybe not) - something like this might work: Composite with 4 pole mini-plug RCA conversion cable
I use this one:
RCA to HDMI Converter, Amtake 1080P RCA Composite CVBS AV to HDMI Video Audio Converter Adapter Compatible with N64 Wii PS2 Xbox VHS VCR Camera DVD, Support PAL/NTSC with USB Power Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_2JKD98RPNHVHDQQ6YC5S
Seems to work well enough
A more in depth analysis with other options: https://www.retrorgb.com/converters.html

Might even look into a RCA to HDMI converter. Avoid crt all together. I think maybe game cycle or digital oasis may carry out.
If not....

I use this one for my N64 and it works well: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_DA8NW08C12ZFAC2G2G36
You can get an upscaler off Amazon pretty cheap. There's much much better ones but I have this one and it does the job
Yea i have it hooked up right now. I bought one of thhttps://www.amazon.com/Converter-Amtake-Composite-Adapter-Supporting/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1N5XHEEK0Y3OQ&keywords=av2hdmi&qid=1640906845&sprefix=av2%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExM0FFNVlVTFMwNUZKJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzgxMDc1MUhJSTFLV0MzWk9MUyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDg2NzYzMTc5TFo4QzREQ1lKRiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=ese. I would double check first to make sure its the right one. I purchased an hdmi to av output the first time and that was not quite what I wanted.
the standard one (r,y,w) with this
You could get a cheap RCA to hdmi box for under $20, image quality and lag will be terrible but it’ll do on a budget

>It's really not preferred to do stuff like this. Modern screens aren't built for analog video and it never looks right. If you want to see a VCR or a PS2 in all its glory, you get a CRT TV. Nothing will ever look as good as a CRT for VCR and PS2. However, if you're dead set on doing this, the first thing you need to know is if you ASUS monitor supports 4:3 aspect ratio. There should but an option in the settings to go from wide screen to full screen or it might be labeled to go from 16:9 to 4:3. Without having that option, which some monitors don't, you can't do this without ruining the picture by stretching it out.If your monitor supports 4:3 aspect ratio, which is needed for both the VCR and PS2, you can try any of the RCA to HDMI converters on the market but I would do your research because they can be a crapshoot. Be vary of ones that look like adapters. They better ones are usually some kind of box with components inside to convert the analog signal to digital. And the better ones are expensive, around $100 for something you know will work. It's cheaper and easier to just get a CRT TV.But then after all this, you still don't get any audio most of the time. You'll have to figure out how to get sound out of your VCR/PS2 and into some speakers. Again, another reason to just use a CRT. They have speakers that work.Oh, one more thing, if you have a desktop computer just get a PCI analog to video card.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share all that great information! I feel like I just learned a ton.
So now, a few more questions for you:
Also, for the ASUS I'm looking to buy (I've now narrowed it down to the ones that seem to support 4:3 aspect ratio), I am looking at a User Guide of the 247, 248, and 249 ASUS models, and it states:
"Aspect Control: adjusts the aspect ratio to full, 4:3, 1:1 or OverScan.
4:3 is only available when input source is in 4:3 format. OverScan is only available for the HDMI input source."
So, in other words, with the help of an RCA to HDMI converter (I know it won't look as good as a CRT TV as you said), it could theoretically work?
I apologize for how technologically impaired I sound haha.
Thanks again for all your help!
