Looks like it's a kumara reddragon keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
It's a cheap mechanical keyboard, but it works great for the cost. If you don't have a mechanical keyboard this is a great place to start. I have been using mine for about 6 months and it's awesome.
Edit: I was wrong. That is a hyperx keyboard. Probably the alloy fps pro.
Yes, I used rubber dome for years, and a mech was my last end game upgrade.
Did it make me better no, but it did make me more consistent and get rid of the times I'd mess my counter step up and my first bullet would be inaccurate . Also I can easily work out on peeks widening a step at a time much more efficiently with tighter movement. Same with shoulder peeking to draw out awp shots.
If your wanting to try one pout you can get a brand called red dragon for 30-40 on amazon. Im using one, put some rubber o-ring under it and it feels great.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
There is also a full keyed one for a little more. Idk how long it will hold up, but it's recommended a few places as a good entry level on to try out mechs.
Five Bucks more on Amazon gets you a brand new one.
I feel pretty weird about used peripherals personally, same goes with console controllers.
You can get one with chinese switches on amazon for REALLY cheap
it's not the best, but the quality is still 1000000X better than a regular keyboard
Couple of questions:
Are these worth double the price of these Redragons
If I am not in a rush, should I wait until BF for something better?
There are some mech cloneboards on Amazon that'll go as low as the high $20s or $30s, but in the wild (like reddit) you might find a set of keycaps for $20 shipped....
What country are you in?
The Redragon K552 is a popular budget board, found one version with RGB just under 50€.
Any particular thoughts on RedDragon's Keyboards? I'm looking to get a 75% keyboard with Red Switches and I was looking at this keyboard specifically and it's perfect for what I need, but I'm still a newbie in the world of mechanical keyboards and haven't heard much about them, so I came on here to check.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U/
$30 is a super tight budget, I would look for something that has either Red or Brown switches, as everything in that price range is gonna be more or less equivalent in terms of quality
There are many low priced mechanical keyboards available on amazon. You're definitely going to want a mechanical keyboard over a normal one. Some of them are backlit if that is something your are interested in. I would recommend this one https://smile.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492473281&sr=8-1&keywords=red+dragon+mechanical+keyboard
There are plenty of keyboards at that price range. They may not be the best overall keyboard, but they sure as hell will be better than rubber domes.
Here is one of the first keyboards that I found on amazon for 31.67 Euros. It also has 790 reviews and a 4.5 star rating.
i actually just got a g810 in the mail, took it out of the box and tried typing on it, it is god awful. i hate it, they keys feel mushy and hard to type on, i've used $27 dollar keyboards that type better. as for lighting, i didn't get that far./ it's going back to amazon. lol
edit: the one i have at work, types really well for the price, no back lighting, low actuation force(relatively; around maybe about 65g)
anyone have any recomendarions on a keyboard? looking to spend about $100, ideally one with rgb (or blue backlighting, trying to match my newsy rebuilt gaming rig) i like blue style keys, light actuation and the click and bump. louder the better. here's what i have now https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1518829258&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=redragon+k552&psc=1
Yea man. Its nothing special just a $40 Red Dragon Mechanical Keyboard.
For the function keys and the arrow keys I custom painted them.
I'm really into custom mechanical keyboard but they are so much money
Red switch keyboards are pretty quiet for the price if you don’t mind linears! Here’s a keyboard I’d recommend that also won’t heck up your bank account :D Redragon K552 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB LED Rainbow Backlit Wired Keyboard with Red Switches for Windows Gaming PC (87 Keys, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_w-wgFb4HSZCEA
Just get a Redragon with red swithces for your budget. Red switches are smooth and fast without annoying clicking sounds to piss off everyone around you or on voice chat:
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U/
There is actually one more way you can do it without sticky keys but only very specific keyboards can do it. Press and hold two letters at the same time in chat, and if they continuously alternate letters (for example zxzxzxzxzx), it means you can jump attack using those two keys. I use z to jump and x for quintuple throw.
Its kind of weird at first but I got used to it eventually. If it helps, preset keybinds will be a thing so you can use that setup for bossing.
By the way, this is the keyboard I own that lets me do it: Redragon K552 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB LED Rainbow Backlit Wired Keyboard with Red Switches for Windows Gaming PC (87 Keys, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_GFFZN53D1NG95KBCQJA5
$150 is budget now? What are we calling the $35 boards off Amazon then?
yes, gateron browns are tactile. gateron yellows are not. gmmk tkl is significantly more expensive than the redragon k552. here's a link to it: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr\_1\_3?gclid=Cj0KCQiA15yNBhDTARIsAGnwe0Xq1ZTcJ47jhdHksPLKPtI9Ckd0Osd\_W2BL2pgNyiRRhYUswx8UcTcaAkcQEALw\_wcB&hvadid=178598645509&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=90...
Could be a driver issue, update all drivers and install all updates of windows.
If this issue came after upgrading to windows 11, revert to windows 10, use W11 after 1-2 years not now.
There's not a ton of options in the $40 range, and you're probably not going to be able to get any silent switches for that price. You can get a Redragon TKL with linear switches for $45 on amazon.
Im just curious how it compares to cheaper mechanical keyboards with full n key rollover like https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=280B0939LF1SJ&dchild=1&keywords=mechanical+gaming+keyboard&qid=1630668759&sprefix=mechanical+&sr=8-2
I got kiddo one of these it's solid & great for playing games. When we bought it came with a matching mouse but I don't see the /kb/mouse combo on amazon at the moment.
I would still really reccomend a mech, even on a budget. This red dragon keyboard comes with oetemu red switches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_09SSA7Z8QHM3M17H4RGK
I wouldn't blindly trust my advice though and you should definitely do your research about the keyboard because I don't know much about it. I have friends that have red dragons and I have typed on them briefly and they feel okay, those friends also don't play rhythm games though.
If your looking for a new keyboard I would suggest something else. The quality is decent but does bend and personally I don't like the feel of it. It does the job but I plan on getting a new one when I have the money. If your looking for a keyboard I would suggest getting this if your on a strict budget or saving up a bit more for something like a Corsair or Razer keyboard.
They can be a bit pricy, but they also have 60% keyboards without the numpads for substantially less, if you don't need the full keyboard. Also, RedDragon keyboards on amazon are really economical and a great value for the price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_sm_apa_glt_fabc_H3X4A23PRN9XX6H3S7TV
Hope this helps, good luck if you do decide to replace it!
i dont know.. probably because a bunch of /r mechanical keyboard nerds went into the thread? worst it got was -4 so i wasnt really that bad
OP: Anyone know where I can find a compact keyboard that keeps buttons the same size?
Me You mean like this keyboard?
and boom downvotes
you mean like this Red Dragon Keyboard ?
cant get anymore "compact" than stuff like that without shrinking the keys.
Are you saying your keyboard is malfunctioning because the membranes are worn out?
Or that you are using membrane and think that mechanical would be better?
If your membranes are worn out this mech is 34.99 on amazon and perfectly fine
I’ve owned one of these for 2 years now. The RGB options are limited and the writing on the keys is starting to wear but it’s worked great for me.
Redragon K552 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB LED Rainbow Backlit Wired Keyboard with Red Switches for Windows Gaming PC (87 Keys, Black) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_xvp6Fb6CNJZ12?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Looking for an entry-level mechanical keyboard - one that is as quiet and non-tactile as possible.
I'm actually about to pull the trigger on this Redragon for $50.
Any reasons I should look at something else?
IMO the $30-40 mechanical keyboards on amazon are great, the $80 keyboards from logitech or corsair might be sliiiightly better, but personally I can't tell the difference in the feel of the switches. If you just want something mechanical, then I would suggest getting one of those cheapo boards, they have pretty good reviews and they don't seem to have reliability issues. If brand name, software support, macro keys, rgb backlighting, etc, are important to you, then go with logitech/corsair/etc
Here is an example of one of the "cheapo" boards, for $30 you get mechanical switches and its backlit, from a brand name you can expect to pay ~$80 for that
I hate putting an amazon link up in this sub, but Redragon k552 is a tenkeyless mech keyboard of higher then expected quality. It's like 50 bucks brand new.
A redragon k552 is pretty cheap (35$) but you can also get the RGB versions for 10 dollars more.
The red dragon mechanical boards on Amazon are great if you like clicky keys. Linus tech tips compared cheap mechanical keyboards. Check that video.
From the looks of the amazon link that I found it looks to be cherry-like clones, so in all likelihood other Cherry-clones should be compatible. Looks like it has static red backlighting, but I don't know if the backlighting is in-switch or on the PCB. If it's in-switch then that would mean you'll have two more joints to de-solder. In-switch LEDs are also usually inserted, soldered and the excess legs are clipped, so you might encounter that the LED's connector legs won't be long enough (ie. not protruding enough through the PCB to solder it back on) for the new switch housings of whatever switch you choose.
Assuming the switches are MX Cherry clones, then all you need to do is de-solder them, take them off the PCB and solder on a new one. You can search for a de-soldering through-hole components tutorial.
Well if you don’t care about having the numpad, I think red dragon has a perfect budget board that is well under your 75$ budget but atleast the quality of that price. Link here: Redragon K552 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB LED Rainbow Backlit Wired Keyboard with Red Switches for Windows Gaming PC (87 Keys, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hfOpFbK9AM090
They also have the same board in the full size variant for 17$ more. If you think paying the extra 45% is worth it for the numpad, go for it.
You're going to have trouble finding a cheap 6 or n-key rollover membrane keyboard that also costs very little.
The Redragon K552 in Reds should be fairly quiet. Reds don't have a tactile bump, since they're linear switches. Not as quiet as silent reds obviously, but you want inexpensive.
Most membrane keyboards don't even mention if they support any kind of rollover.
Ducky One 2 Mini is always the usual budget choice.
If you're really tight on budget, Redragon keybs have hands-down the best bang for your buck out of all brands. The K552 in particular, I have heard very good things about.
There are mechanical and linear versions of this, in both black and white, that won’t break the bank: Redragon K552 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB LED Rainbow Backlit Wired Keyboard with Red Switches for Windows Gaming PC (87 Keys, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jAMeFb2P4D4CJ
Storage: WD 500gb SATA SSD - around $70
Case: any ATX case will do. Look up a Phanteks Eclipse on amazon. $70
Monitor: I like my asus VG248qe (1080p 144hz). It can be found around $200.
Keyboard/mouse: I would start with something from RedDragon (on the cheap) just to see if you like the Mechanical style before you move into an expensive mechanical keyboard. Redragon keyboards can be found around $30. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_iVLFEbQY0E19X
For a mouse, I would go straight into a high-end logitech of some kind, like a g512 Hero. These are around $40.
Hope this helps!
There are are a bunch of different versions of the keyboard

What do you guys think of this Redragon K552 RED LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Small Compact 87 Key Metal Mechanical Computer Keyboard KUMARA USB Wired Cherry MX Blue Equivalent Switches for Windows PC Gamers - Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DSD5DbGJMNK8T
If you want something good that is inexpensive i can recommend this. If it has any flaw at all for a mechanical, clicky-as-fuck-and-loud-without-headphones-on, 100% anti-ghosting, TKL, illuminated, and sturdy enough to kill someone with (and still function perfectly), $30 keyboard it's that it is driver-less (so no macros and sadly it can’t remember brightness levels between restarts). It doesn't bother me though since the default max-brightness is not an issue and red seems to be the best color for an illuminated keyboard (eyes are too sensitive to green and blue, whereas red is 100% unnoticeable in the peripheral vision unless you look down at it). Honestly I think real cherry blues would be slightly better but the “professional” keyboards just seem stupidly overpriced after being exposed to this one. EDIT: I forgot to mention that the switches on this thing can be pulled out and swapped if that's your thing, or if any should happen to die (its stood up to my abuse for many months so i'm not worried).
Does anyone have any recommendations for a quite mechanical keyboard for gaming and recording for YouTube? I like the noise from mechanical keyboards, but my microphone is right next to keyboard and I don't want a ton of noise bleeding in. I like this keyboard, but I'm afraid that it's too loud and the mic will pick it up. Also, my budget is like $30 or $40 lol
What do you think of this one?
For $5 more if you want red backlighting you can get the Red dragon keyboard with the same switches. That one is pretty solid too but the Aukey is still not a bad buy at $25 if you don't wanna get into the $50 range for keyboards
EDIT: Forgot link https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
Right on buddy! It’s just a red dragon kumara mech keyboard https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U It just so happens to fit perfectly around the dell keyboard. The four rubber legs keep it above too so you won’t get any unnecessary key strokes from underneath! Picked up the wood wrist rest off eBay and a few artisans from here! I’m new and this is pretty simple compared to the works of art I’ve seen posted on here but hope it helps (>’-‘)>
A TKL board that comes with Outemu Blue Switches (which sound super clicky and loud on this board). The switches themselves are removable. The red back-lighting is also really nice, but can only be adjusted for brightness, though there is an RGB model with more lighting modes.
Is this the same keyboard by chance?
$40 might be a bit tricky, especially depending on your definition of good. I found this one though for under $40. Another option is maybe to get one second hand.

I'm a fan of red dragon peripherals myself. They haven't let me down yet, and are well priced. Compact keyboard and just check out what mouse looks good. Mice are mostly feel, so you could go to a store and hold a bunch as well.
Okay, r/mk, what should I buy if I need the following features:
EDIT: Actually wound up going with a Kingston HyperX Alloy FPS Pro. Using it for the first time right now, and I'm pretty happy with it. At any rate, it's my first board with genuine Cherry blues, and wow what a difference those make. Gateron blues are close, but Cherry blues make Outemu blues and even Razer greens feel like cheap trash. I'm honestly kind of plotzing over the difference in feel right now.
Honestly, I think I'm just looking for validation at this point. I've been wanting a new keyboard for a while now and though of buying a mechanical keyboard. I've started lurking this sub but still keep doubting. So I want you guys to push me over the edge and buy one or tell me why the one I plan to start with is a bad idea.
So, what do you guys think of the Redragon Kumara? This will be my first mech. Most of the reviews I see about it are positive but I haven't really seen much back and forth discussion about it which would generally make me feel more confident of my decision than just a review.
Personally I'd keep the PS4 for the exclusives. Here in an inexpensive one with good reviews. Check out r/mechanicalkeyboards too, it might help you get a better idea of what you want
I want a cheap, customizable keyboard. Compatible keycaps should be easily available, and it should look good, preferably backlit. No other requirements. Cheaper the better. Which one should I go for?
Also, how are the cheap keyboards off of amazon? Are the keycaps standard sized? This for example.
Thank you for the review.
The keyboard is decent and all but I'd ask anyone who's looking for a good mechanical keyboard to suck up $20 more and get something of better quality. The Red dragon K552 appears to be extremely popular so it's at least a bit more reputable and also less of an assault on the eyes.
If you legitimately need a dirt cheap keyboard just go to the thrift store and get a rubber dome for $3 to hold you off til you can get something nice.
Ah ok. There are some very good mechanical keyboards at budget prices on Amazon, like this one. As for mice, I'd recommend anything from Logitech, as they are built well and go on sale quite often. It depends on your grip style though, so maybe just stick to the one you have ordered. Cheap mouse pads can also be found on Amazon.
If you ever have questions you can always browse videos on YouTube for help, as there are a lot of great content creators who make vids for all sorts of PC related stuff. I'd check out LinusTechTips or Jayztwocents
Redragon is definitely not bad. I use it as my daily driver on my home pc. My advice though, is unless you need that bumped go for this instead
Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dDp0AbNDHAJDX
Do you guys think this is a better deal or the Redragon K552? I am looking to buy a keyboard for my nephew whom just turned 12 and is getting into computer gaming. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AXZ7TDMJNMJSZ&psc=1
EDIT: If you have a different suggestion, then I am open for it as well!
I would go with the redragon k552 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1524438538&sr=1-1&keywords=redragon+k552
A little over budget but I used to have it and its really nice
I’ve had this exact keyboard since August with no complaints, except no num pad which doesn’t bother me personally. Mechanical, red switches, lasted me a little over 6 months and it’s only 30 bucks.
you could get the reddragon keyboard from amazon. I heard its really good and you can get like a dollar warranty.
Regarding the keyboard, I bought a cheapo mechanical keyboard that's been working really well for me for about 18mo now. Whenever people come over and use it they've also really enjoyed it. Highly recommend!
Do you think this is a good ten keyless mechanical keyboard? i don't think i saw it on the guide but it has some good reviews
Keep in mind, I considered quality when picking these parts as you don’t want to have a keyboard for example that only lasts a couple of months. I know the GPU is higher priced than what you suggested, but honestly I’d rather save up a little bit longer In order to purchase a GPU that you won’t have to change in a year or so. With that being said, for the graphics card, I’d recommend the MSI GTX 1050 2G OC ($120 RRP, on sale should drop to $100, possibly less), arguably the best bang for your buck graphics card. For the keyboard, I’d recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U . As for the mouse, the Logitech G402 is the way to go IMO. Finally, for the gaming headphone, I’d recommend the HyperX Cloud Stinger for its price. Best of luck.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
This keyboard is amazing had it for a year and it makes the beautiful click clack sound. But that’s only if you’re into that. Otherwise still a great keyboard and it lights up
Just buy one of the chinese knockoff keyboards from amazon. If you don't like it just return it, Amazon is amazing with that kind of thing.
Most cheap keyboards are fine nowadays because keyboards are really simple devices, so if you were to go absolute dirt cheap then something like this is a good option.
The one you linked to in your previous comment is known as the magicforce68 around here, it is famous for having good quality for a 30 dollar board, it used to be cheaper even with backlight but at ~60 dollars it isn't worth it.
If you want to pay around 70 dollars, then the Masterkeys offers no backlight, good switches, good build quality, good keycaps, and replaceable keycaps.
Alternatively, the Corsair k65 offers backlight, good switches, fine build quality, fine keycaps, and a non-standard bottom row.
The G410 is still a good option but it heavily depends on whether you will like the romer-g switches or not.
I literally upgraded from that keyboard to this one
Can't go back. Clacks loud but holy shit does it feel better and I love the extra space on my desk. I rarely miss the keypad.
Been 2 years and it's been fantastic the entire time.
Can the Reddragon Kumara, this one, have custom keycaps? I assume it can because the switches are probably mx clones, but I wasn't sure because there are no questions or reviews that state you can on the amazon product page.
I bought the slightly cheaper red backlit version of the Kumara. The font is heavily stylized, but nothing that bothers me. Been using it for a few months now without any issues.
I will say the keys are a little more klicky-klacky than I would've liked. I was hoping for a little more solid, thuddy feel, but for $30 I am more than happy with it overall.
If you arent fussed on colour scheme - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=twister_B06Y2GQBXZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Had my eyes on this or similar for a while. Not sure on quality but reviews are great and Redragon are usually a safe bet. saves you money for a better headset!
I got a new keyboard, and the Function keys don't seem to do anything when pressed. What should I do? I'm specifically trying to use the "play music" and "volume up/down/mute" keys, but it would appear as though they aren't 'linked' to windows. Or something. I don't really know what II'm talking about here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Unlikely you'll get genuine Cherry MX keyboards at that range, but in my experience, Outemu has done a solid job with their switches. There are many good deals on Amazon, I like this one - https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1499847711&sr=8-3&keywords=mechanical+keyboard
But if anyone offers you a cherry mx keyboard for $40, I would snap buy it!
Killer, appreciate the help man. I actually think I'll splurge a bit and go the individual route, any recommendations on KBM for 30-50 a piece? I've heard good things about the Logitech G402, and I've been recommended this keyboard.
> OUTEMU
I think that's what's in the Redragon and they seem fine to me. I find the keyboard very pleasant to type on. My son plays CS:GO a lot and he says that KB is great for it.
Again, I don't use that one daily, it's on my son's PC. My own 2 keyboards that I actually use have Cherry blues and browns.
I have a friend who got one after his razer blackwidow broke, he likes it, but says he definitely prefers mechanical switches. I use this https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U and personally love it, but if you're really into RGB the K55 doesn't seem like a bad option.
This is the perfect keyboard for him and for your budget:
Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_uku9ybS4AQGPB
It is a small, compact mechanical keyboard with red LED's.
I have the RGB version that includes the numpad, but if all he needs are red LED's I see no reason to pay more for multicolored lights and a number pad. This keyboard is small and compact, perfect for a crammed desk.
Now I saw you ask earlier to describe the difference between mechanical and non mechanical. Mechanical keyboards give you a very clicky feel and they are a little loud, so if he games in the living room it may be a bit distracting. I personally love mechanical keyboards for gaming, as they make you much more aware when you actually hit a key. With standard keyboards, they feel very mushy and often you may hit another key or two by accident and not even realize it.
TL;DR: Great mechanical keyboard with Red LED's for $35 before shipping and taxes. Perfect for gaming and typing in case he needs to use his computer for schoolwork. Tell him happy birthday from the Reddit community!
-Mechanical -under $50 -good warranty -small form factor -Red LEDS -not too loud -good key size
I have it in RGB (not all just one color lights) and I love it.
Thought the same as you. But I bought a QPAD MK85 with cherry brown switches, and I can't go back.
If I were you get this: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490127917&sr=8-1&keywords=reddragon+k552
A friend of mine bought this and it's one of the if not the best keyboard for the price.
I like this one a lot. Really good mechanical keyboard without the big price. Only downside is there is no number pad. But who really needs one.
Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yJTZybX6JC2ZA
this is the cheapest led backlit mech i know of
edit: you should also specify what switches you want, this only comes with cherry mx green clones.
Im in America, and im not sure what pricing is like there, but you're gonna have a hard time finding mechanical keyboards for 50 USD/70 CAD. Its near impossible to find a good rgb keyboard for that price. The Redragon K552 is pretty decent, although it is "tenkeyless". The RGB version is more expensive
100% the backlit ones are Outemu. The nonbacklit ones aren't made by the same company. Red dragon is the Retail name of the OEM that makes these. You can see the kumara 552 has the same keycaps except not ISO:
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
I'll go ahead and say that I love my red Outemu's and haven't been let down by my monoprice board yet. 40 bucks for doubleshot keycaps and back lighting is unreal to me. You used to have to import Ducky's with tiawanese lettering to get a mechanical for 40 bucks back in the day.
I personally own this keyboard. https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478026574&sr=8-3&keywords=mechanical+keyboard It's got cherry green equivalent switches. I love it, and it's right there in your price range. I'd definitely recommend it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I just got this mechanical gaming keyboard for $40 and it works wonderfully. It's the first time I've ever used a mechanical so I can't really compare it to others. But from what I've read, its pretty good for the price. Im still getting used to the sound because its really loud, but other than that, its awesome and cheap.
A little out of your budget but this is a solid keyboard for the price (can get it for $36 like new from amazon warehouse). Switches are similar to mx blues/greens.
Have this one, And I find it really good, its a basic keyboard with nothing that you need to be over the top with.
Its just smooth and good right to the point.
for real mech switches there is this keyboard with knock off Cherry MX blues new or a used mech keyboard with numpad for 40$ if you don't mind gambling and repairing switches if they die. but most real mech keyboard will not have RGB lighting at that price range. do some research check the used markets and deal sights see what you can find. /r/MechanicalKeyboards might also help.
Do the opposite of what Deadmanpizza is saying, and if you need a mech keyboard, get this lower-end one https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1466608606&sr=8-4&keywords=mechanical+keyboard
and get a 50-60 dollar mouse that is actually decent. Don't skimp on the mouse for the keyboard.
If you want a DA Chroma, you can get that + this keyboard for just under $100 and you won't be skimping yourself on the mouse.
There are plenty of cheaper alternatives to the triple A brand mechanical keyboards. https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U for example has pretty good reviews.
OC with your CPU wont really do much to your FPS.
Your mobo doesn't support the clockspeed of your selected RAM. Your mobo is also mATX, taking full ATX and having more RAM slots is easier to upgrade. And there's the option of SLI aswell.
Nice case. I love how it looks man.
There is this Red Dragon keyboard that has Mechanical switches, backlight and multimedia keys. The downside is that it has no Numpad. Maybe get this for $40 and by a separate number pad? Keyboard
Keyboard: Corsair K70 or Cooler Master Quickfire TK[cheaper option] or http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_57?ie=UTF8&qid=1463199247&sr=8-57&keywords=gaming+keyboard [Cheapest, best value]
Mouse: Logitech G502 or DA Chroma[cheaper option]
Headset: HyperX Fury II or Logitech G230[cheap option]
Pad: Any XXL pad, honestly they take up your entire desk and are so much more worth it than you think.
Is it of importance of who manufactures the switches? there's a keyboard for 40$
This doesn't have MX blues, but it has Outemu Blues, which are similar to MX greens, which are blues but harder to press. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i2_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=1S8YF08Z8WHZ3TK64E30&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2437869742&pf_rd_i=desktop

Mem-Chanical meaning not mechanical. You can get a Reddragon Kumara K552 for much much cheaper
Redragon on sale for $23.99 on Amazon
Yeah, that's U.S. pricing.
Canadian conversion would be $48, but it's currently listed for $59.99 on Amazon.ca.
That being said, the Seer is better and around the same price in Canada (once it comes back in stock) if you're ok with 60%.
Budget sub $50 CAD wired mechanical keyboard in Canada, you're probably looking at Redragon primarily.
edit: For example, $43.99 CAD after coupon.
1.) take the money you are going to spend on that internal HDD and the external HDD and get you a "large as you can afford" internal SSD. I'd look at either a 1TB or (2) 500GB. Maybe something like this.
2.) Dont waste your money on that keyboard, if you are building a 'red' build, go to amazon and look at the 'red dragon' keyboards.
3.) also, stay away from off brands, IMO. It ain't worth the savings if you have to RMA the part. Mainly looking at the RAM you chose, but the SSD falls in that category also. read reviews. If there are only 2 reviews for something, I personally wouldn't trust it.
Don't Rook too long, these prices might not last.

Hello, and welcome to the community!
I don't think you'd be able to get anything custom in that price range. You could try lurking on eBay to see if any older models of a Corsair show up with brown switches that are cheap enough.
There are also a bunch of lower-end mechanical keyboards listed on Amazon that fit your requirements, like this. If you just search 'rgb mechanical keyboard' and sort by price, you'd see there are a decent amount of results. You probably won't get actually Cherry MX switches, and most of the listings seem to be blue or red equivalents, but those certainly beat your membrane keyboard!
Update: found this guy with brown switches! Now hopefully that ships to Canada...
There are a ton of cheap mechs on Amazon that are actually decent for the price. Here are a couple that seem pretty nice:
I also have a couple old mechs that I could sell you, send me a PM if you want.
Gotta agree with this as well.
If you want to keep your function row, grab a Keychron C1 (65$ sorry don't know how to find the price in Euros).
K552 is also an option, though there are cons to this. If you plan on it being your only keyboard without ideas of upgrading in the future, then I don't recommend unless you are on a tight budget. Still many ways to modify just more limitations.
Theres the cheaper k552 that has backlit keys that stay the color as shown in the image. Then there's the slightly more expensive RGB k552 that provides the ability to customize each key.
Benefits of the RK84:
- Per key RGB (customizeable with RK's software. Try finding it or emailing them to get)
- Hotswappability (meaning multiple options for switches if you decide to want to change and NOT buy an entirely new keyboard)
- Bluetooth (heard it's not too good, but hey its there 🤷♂️)

My recommendations:
Get the RK84 so you don't have to ever upgrade. The option to switch out a switch could mean fixing one of your broken keys in the future. A huge recommendation is to not get clicky switches though that's just me. I'd say spend an extra $20 to get Akko CS Ocean Blue switches. While they are not clicky, they are tactile so they have the feeling of the click but feel WAAAAY better. And the K552 on the RGB and non-RGB variant DO NOT HAVE A SOFTWARE TO CUSTOMIZE KEYS. That's the drawback with budget rgb mechanical keyboards and RK offers it so I'd say spend the money to get the RK84 to never have to get another keyboard.
There aren't a lot of options in that price point, but I can recommend a couple of keyboards
Redragon k552 Super budget, and on sale. It's technically a mechanical keyboard...
Royal Kludge makes a variety of budget keyboards. Some are hot swappable (you can change the switches without soldering), wireless, or have RGB lighting.
Also check out the keychron c1. It is one of the best budget options out there.

Looking to buy a keyboard. Need some opinions.
Canadian, so the prices are higher than US.
Right now, I'm using my brother's white RK61 w/ Blue Switches. I do not like how the forward slash is with the up button. I'm a programming student, so that forward slash tends to be used a lot. My actual keyboard is a ~$10 Walmart keyboard, so it works, but the backspace is literally a regular character and the enter is really big.My keyboard.
As of right now, I'm looking into black keyboards w/ Brown Switches. The Blue are too loud, especially when I use "open" headphones (Koss KSC75). I'm hoping the Brown switches would be about the same as my current keyboard. My current keyboard has some feedback, but not as annoying as the Blue switches. It's a lot more blunt, like a membrane. My brother said the keyboard I got is a membrane, but my friends say otherwise.
I don't want the numpad anymore. I don't really care about the lighting nor hotswapping, I want it simple.
My current choices are:
Plugable Mechanical Keyboard at $64 CAD
If anyone has recommendations, I don't mind looking into them either. It's just that AliExpress takes way too long and Ebay tends to more expensive with the $10+ shipping fee.
Top version but they have other options as well on Amazon and their main site https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_glc_fabc_bON-FbWJW8YPW
Yeah, I should have been more clear, my bad. The red switch 552 is rainbow: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U While the blue switch one is RGB:https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-RGB-Mechanical-Keyboard-Construction/dp/B019O9BLVY/ref=pd_lpo_147_t_0/141-2938029-3710413?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B019O9BLVY&pd_rd_r=e6e52522-88b6-4c78-86ad-fce2c1e846a1&pd_rd_w=ovShK&pd_rd_wg=l0...
Something like this would be miles better...

You don't want an AMD processor. Their current desktop offerings are incredibly outdated and are poor choices for gaming. The i5 6500 is a much better choice.
Decent budget mobo, nothing fancy but will get the job done.
You can use the stock intel cooler with build without issue.
Single 8GB stick of RAM. This leaves room for you to upgrade to 16GB later should you need it.
1 TB HDD.
Decent 275GB SSD.
Very nice after market RX 480. You can get this card for $255 after promos from jet.com here. This card is significantly more powerful than a 960, much closer to the 980 in performance and will max out most games @1080p/60FPS. It also allows you to utilize freesync monitors.
Decent M-ATX case. Nothing spesh, but is a great case for the price. I threw in an extra case fan for rear exhaust too.
You don't want a Sentkey PSU (well not that one anyway). The 600B is a much more reliable and better quality unit.
I dropped the optical drive, I don't think you need it. I can't remember the last time I used one.
Cheap but well reviewed mechanical keyboard. You can grab it for $40 from amazon here.
Again cheaper, but also well reviewed optical mouse.
For the monitor I went with a very nice 144Hz freesync panel. It got an very good review from tom's recently, which you can read here. The Asus MX279H you chose is terrible value for a 1080p 60Hz monitor. Also 27" is generally considered a little to big for 1080p, as you can start to see the pixels fairly easily at this size. The ViewSonic XG2401 is a much better choice IMO and agin you can pick it up from jet.com for $210 after promos here, just make it a separate purchase from the GPU to reapply the $30 discount.
I bought a redragon mechanical keyboard for $40 shipped yesterday. Looks decent for the price should be in tommorow. Not sure if Amazon Europe sells it or not https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U Not sure if its on the uk amazon, good luck.
Probably a MagicForce 68 (sold under Qisan on Amazon) or one of the DREVO brand keyboards (your choice of which one takes your fancy). Both brands have models in both black and white and ship with Prime shipping off of Amazon.
The MagicForce 68 is probably the most popular recommendation for an entry level MK.

Other models on Amazon that you might want to check out: (note these don't seem as popular as the MagicForce or DREVOs)

Heres the one I got for my first build. Backlit, mechanical, only 30 bucks on Amazon. Been using it for about a month with no complaints.
<strong>Additional Photos.</strong>
Weird observation: the more I look at this keyboard, the more I think of a TADA68 with the Nav. Cluster. The surrounding walls of this keyboard reminds me of the cases the kit comes with.
Feels more polymer-ish than the typical ABS. Not bad at all. Installed some O-Rings like the bottom-outer that I am and I'm a pretty happy person.
<strong>Typing on this thing is so quiet compared to the other boards I have. There's a little "thock" that matches well with these, somehow.</strong> I type the tests in 120+ WPM.
I actually bought this off eBay off of some friendly chap who replaced all the Outemu Blue switches with Gateron Reds! I knew I had to swipe this board at that point. I haven't found a Gateron Red TKL and I'm terrible at soldering things as I have shaky hands.
The amazon seller for the same PBT keycaps cost $6-$7 more, so I just linked the one on eBay below.
Dunno where you buy your switches. I'll leave that up to you to find.
Edit: If someone could help me suggest getting rid of that "REDRAGON" text above the arrow keys, I'd really appreciate it. I'm pretty sure electrical tape isn't the correct way to go about things.
Do you know if you like blue style switches? If you have a Microcenter near you you can test the switches out.
IMO, blue style and brown style are the most "normal." I have Cherry MX browns in mine and I love it. When I tested the blues, I liked them as well, however, I wasn't a fan of the click sound.
Having never had this keyboard, $20 isn't a bad intro, but I wouldn't expect much. It would be a good way to see if you like mechanical keyboards or not.
Here's one that's been recommended by Linus for $30.
I'd Swap the Power Supply to the 500B https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zNK7YJ/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr and buy it from B&H if you don't get taxed from then (bit faster shipping + can save a bit if you get taxed elsewhere and aren't in NY/NJ)
Cheaper, higher wattage, bigger rebate and I believe they're a bit better built too. About the same price up-front but you'll get a extra $10 back.
Could swap the case as well to something like the Spec-05 and save a get some more $ back with the mail-in.
For keyboards you can get a mech board for around $30 on Amazon and they're usually backlit as well. Redragon's stuff is usually pretty reliable from what i've heard (example) though you can always find ones around $30 (example 1, example 2, example 3)
For a mouse you can always find something cheaper and there's a few decent options here
that's not mechanical. the brand name is just cherry. if you want a cheap mechanical keyboard just search up mechanical keyboard on amazon. I've seen plenty of tenkeyless mechs on amazon for $50 and under, such as:
> Keyboard: Cheapest tenkeyless keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches.
For whatever it's worth /u/grantthecreator - you could scrape $20+ off that Cherry MX Keyboard by going with one of those generic/knockoff TKL boards. They're everywhere, including Amazon w/ Prime.
If a budget was stopping you from a substantial CPU/GPU tier (I see you stretched for the 3800X), I would probably try to find that "loose change" in the build and apply it there. In this particular build, I'd DEFINITELY try to find the few bucks for the 2060 Super over the OG 2060.
And so on...there are tons of them.
I have over a year's worth of personal experience with one ("EagleTac" TKL w/ fake Blues from Amazon) on my GF's rig. She works from home often, types for school, and games on it. It's still good as new - both the switches and lights. I've used it for typing and gaming and think it's absolutely fine. I was/am quite impressed with it for under $30.
If my reference point in PC's matters - I'm on higher-end stuff (2080 + dual 34" 21:9's - AW3418DW) and have been exclusively using Cherry MX's for years in K65/K95/Pok3r's...
personally I think its priced nice.. but the parts just aren't that great.
below is the EXACT build, they list all the parts in the description. so, if you want to build it yourself... you will spend about the same
or save about $100 by buying a windows key from a reseller.

you can get a decent mechanical keyboard on Amazon for cheap, I recommend this Redragon one for $33
and for a decent mouse on a budget I recommend the Logitech g203 for $21
Dang, ok I will split it into categories and their price for each one (Stuff based in America) PC: $964.32 Preferably build it yourself (it’s cheaper) but a prebuilt will do the job I would go with these since you plan to edit videos and it’s also decent for streaming too Pcpartpicker link plus monitor: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ Mic: A really good mic is the Fifine T699 it comes with the arm pop filter and everything for around $76 Peripherals: Preference, I would buy Keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=red+dragon+k552&qid=1595719231&sr=8-3 $40 Mouse: https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Viper-Ultralight-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B084RPZD6T/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=razer+viper+mini&qid=1595719272&sprefix=razer+viper+&sr=8-2 $40 Mousepad (optional) https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Durable-Water-Resistant-Cordura/dp/B07D9D819P/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=coolermaster+mp510&qid=1595719530&sr=8-2 $20 Headphones: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-HS35-Headset-Earcups-Headphones/dp/B07QX99XJJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=corsair+headphones&qid=1595719701&sprefix=corsair+hea&sr=8-3 really comfy headphones, could edit for hours Grand total $1180.32 If you want you can tell me which country you live in and I can adjust it. But this would be a great setup
Had that keyboard and an earlier version of the mouse. The keyboard is really good, I used it as my personal one at work coding for a while and gave it to my nephew who still uses it. That thing is HEAVY for the size and I still have a dent in my desk where I dropped it when I first got it. The mouse is OK. It is a great one to have around as an extra but it is not something I would use daily.
Keyboard can be had for $34.99 plus 10% off coupon at Amazon right now ($31.49 if I mathed right).
https://smile.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
That means you are paying about $18.50 for the mouse and pad. That mouse is like $12 or so every day of the week on Amazon.
https://smile.amazon.com/Redragon-Gaming-Buttons-Ergonomic-CENTROPHORUS/dp/B00HTK1NCS
The pad seems to run $10.
https://smile.amazon.com/Redragon-ARCHELON-Stitched-Waterproof-Large-Size/dp/B00NV4XL62
So, it is cheaper that buying separate, but I would say that you could probably do better with a different mouse for maybe a bit more.
Hello all,
Brand new to the mechanical keyboard, just this last week was when I started seriously looking into a mechanical keyboard to use in conjunction with my laptop. I feel it would be more comfortable typing and playing some games with an actual dedicated keyboard than just the built in one.
As cool as the mechanical keyboard world seems, I unfortunately don't have a lot of disposable income at the present time :( At the moment, I can really only afford something up to $50. I'd like at least a 75% one since anything less than that is a bit too small IMHO. Red switch is another thing I'm eyeballing because I'd just prefer something on the quieter end.
I found these on amazon, which seemed to be pretty decent based off number of reviews and review distribution:
Redragon K552 The one everyone seems to have
If anyone has experience with any of these, I would appreciate your input as to help make a more informed purchase.
I don't really need hotswapping at the present time, as I'm just entering the keyboard world, or even really the RGB (as plain backlighting is more than fine). So if anyone as any other recommendations they could throw my way I would greatly appreciate it :)
For keyboard, if you want to go a bit more budget, Redragon's K552 is very popular though it doesn't have a number pad. If you want the numberpad, this K551 may work (I forgot but these might not be true RGB or per key RGB, just different colors of lights behind keys, at least the K552 is). If you want to go for a company that will probably have better after sale support and better quality, the HyperX Alloy origins should be pretty good.
For nice, I've personally always loved Logitech's G502 mice, having owned 3 of them before finally moving on since my needs required a lighter mouse. It's also really affordable right now. It's also adjustable weight so you can make it heavier if you want. I wasn't able to find anything decent ambidextrous near its price, but if you really need a mouse with an ambidextrous shape, the G305 might work (it's also wireless). Most other decent and not overly expensive mice nowadays are trending towards being lightweight.

I don't see hotswap listed as a feature there. Same deal for CiY X77.
Have you tried pressing and holding z and x in your chat and see if it goes like this: zxzxzxzxzxz? If so, I key bind those two keys to do the moves you wanted.
By the way, this is the keyboard I use
1080p Medium 80+fps in AAA Titles (RDR2, Cyberpunk, AC Valhalla) *1080p Medium 170+fps in eSports *(Warzone, Apex, Valorant) 6600 Benchmarks
I tired getting a mechanical keyboard in the budget, but had to dropped the specs where unnecessary like to 500GB ssd or a 10th gen i3.
Keyboard Recommendation: Redragon K552 for €55. Come with Outemu Blue clicky+Tactile Swtiches.

Not sure how the price differs in India, but from what I've heard others say the most popular cheap mechanical keyboard is the redragon. Although it is 10$ over your budget at least here in europe.
Here are some reviews from popular tech youtubers. I suggest you check them out and see for yourself:
And this is the amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U
You can buy. But i would suggest redragon kumara (k552). Its more expensive but much better quality - both keycaps as well as body. Additionally, k552 is hotswap so you buy any switch and enjoy. It comes with outemu switches but akko switches are compatible. I've also seen videos where people successfully used gateron switches on it. You can get unboxed kbd on redragon website at great prices:
Red switch: https://redragon.in/collections/unboxed/products/unbox-kumara-k552-rainbow-mechanical
Blue switch: https://redragon.in/collections/unboxed/products/unbox-kumara-k552-rgb-mechanical
Swap video: https://youtu.be/IlQPBbzExFQ
Blue switches: https://www.meckeys.com/shop/accessories/keyboard-accessories/key-switches/gateron-mechanical-switch/
This is cheap and has hot swappable switches if you decide to try something else in the future. I have this one at the office and a custom at home using the GMMK Barebones. I learned a lot from the GMMK and lubing and filming my Silent Alpaca switches so it all depends what you're looking for. I love my Silent Alpacas and Drop Skyline Keycaps
Well done. I do a lot of these max FPS for minimum price builds for people. Only thing I would change is the mouse and keyboard.
I usually go with a ReDragon Mechanical for under $30 and a Logitech G502 (when it's ~$30).
sure heres the k552 https://www.amazon.in/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_2?crid=STWA8XOIVA5V&keywords=k552&qid=1650978566&sprefix=k552%2Caps%2C312&sr=8-2
keep in mind its out of stock thats why the price is up its usually around 2200
and here's CB 18 https://www.amazon.in/Cosmic-Byte-CB-GK-18-Ten-Keyless-Keyboard/dp/B08VWGK688/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3U5HBIV00WCHU&keywords=gk+18&qid=1650978613&sprefix=gk+1%2Caps%2C214&sr=8-1
the k552 and k551 are the same kb only diff is the numpad and since i don't like having a dull sized keyboard i prefer the 552 over the 551
I very much doubt those are Cherry blue switches - Cherry blues are around ~£5 for 10 (if bought individually).
Honestly it could be a failure at any of the points - the firmware on the keyboard or the switches.
A decent mechanical keyboard is going to cost at least £50. If it's in your budget, you could check out something like the Coolermaster CK-530 or the 550 if you want full size, or the Redragon K552
Typically blue switches are 'clicky', red switches are 'smooth' (or 'linear') and brown switches are 'tactile' (a little 'bump' in the keypress).
Unfortunately, for £15 it's just too cheap for it to be decent. Sounds like you bought a dud. I'd return it.
Start a bit cheaper, $28: https://smile.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U/
Hello guys, this is going to be long so tl:dr Im looking for my first mech keyboard, quite one just for working [coding].
So i found several options here they are can someone help me out recommend me from these or something else that is similar? all with red or silent red switches [I understood it will be the best for typing and quite]
Prices including shipping + tax
Redragon K552 - 35$
EPOMAKER K870T - 103$ - SWAPPABLE
EPOMAKER K870T - 61$ - NOT SWAPPABLE
G.SKILL KM360 - 55$
LTC NB681 Nimbleback - 55$
Keychron K6 - 70$
GAMAKAY TK68 - 90$
GAMAKAY LK67 - 100$
GAMAKAY K66 - 85$
Ducky One 2 SF - 180$
So yeah the ducky obv expensive the question is, is it even worth it? since its not even hot-swappable.
Also obv some of them already have PTB which is in the price while for others i will need to purchase later some cool PTB keycaps probably.
1) which keyboard would fit to my needs?
2) which switches? red will be good enough for ONLY coding?
3) Will it work with Mac? since im using only Mac to code.
THANKS REDDIT!

This one comes in both red and blue switches, just choose what you like

So for Roblox, the integrated graphics in something like a Ryzen 5 5600G would work well enough so you don't need to buy a GPU. You can make a more lower end build, like this, for like 800 USD (If you buy a windows 10 key from ebay or somewhere where it isn't like 100+ USD). Downside is, that adds up for three PCs. For peripherals however, get a Redragon K552 mechanical keyboard and a Redragon M711 Cobra mouse. Both work surprisingly well for the cost so for a kid's gaming peripherals it works well enough. As for the chairs, get regular office chairs. There aren't good budget gaming chairs and office chairs work fine for a 6, 7, and 9 year old. For a reasonably priced desk, something from IKEA should work. Also, for Roblox, any cheap $25 USD "gaming headset" with a headset mic should work. Your audio doesn't need to be super good for it. Also. PLEASE get one of those weird things that automatically spray air freshener at certain intervals. Three kids being in a room for at least an hour is never a good thing for the human nose.

This is probably it if you want something cheap. Hotswappable and Akko switches have been confirmed to fit into the PCB in the questions section of the listing.
Your comment on the board having to be silent is a bit confusing because the major factor for board loudness will be the switch you have chosen. The akko rose reds are linears but they're not necessarily super quiet.
For reference, you can listen to this @ 2:20 https://youtu.be/HT41EHxEopE?t=140.
This would be your exact build (minus their custom pudding keycaps) with this board + Akko Rose Reds.
If you’re looking for a cheap mechanical keyboard for gaming I would recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U I used it for a while before I got a new one, it’s very good for the price.
Should I get this or Redragon K552 for like 12 bucks more? redragon link says it comes with red switches, I've never used a real mechanical keyboard before. Right now I'm on something called a Dareu LK 135 that I found a a thrift store in new condition for $3, and from what I can tell (again, never felt real mechanical keyboard before), the switches feel like blues mainly because of how clicky they are.
I figure I should mix it up and either go for browns (I would get browns on the E-YOOSO) or the reds on the redragon.
Also while I'm at it, does anyone have a wrist rest for keyboards that they would recommend? Thanks : )
The Redragon k552 Kumara is an extremely solid, affordable, TKL option that many people enjoy modding. It's on sale for $30 on amazon right now which is a steal in my opinion.

A more expensive but great option would be the Keychron K8 V2. I actually recently modded this exact keyboard for my father and it turned out great.

if u have a budget of 35 this is super good
I live in India and according to my budget i can get any one of these three options what should i go for i want good performance and also good RGB controls i do not want to go for more expensive as i am mainly a console gamer and i play on my ps5 70% of time These are available in my region which should i get ???

I just recommended this to someone else, but I feel like it fits here as well. If you're cool with going prebuilt, it's the best deal you'll find for a relevant gpu in the awful current market. I would normally say to upgrade the ram to 16gb rather than use the 8gb it comes with, but you should be fine with that for a game as undemanding as LoL.
Here is a benchmark with the same gpu and cpu, only major difference is the 16gb ram vs 8gb of ram in the prebuilt (again, you can upgrade this if you see fit).
Only thing I would say is that even prebuilts are selling out pretty quickly, so I'd buy it sooner rather than later if you're interested. I'd be surprised if it was still in stock a week from now.
edit: Forgot peripherals! This keyboard is great for the money and this is a good mouse.
Look for some budget peripheral recommendations:
Are those above ideal for the price? Any other recommendations around that price (or a little more expensive for better quality)?
here the keyboard I use like it a lot but could always find a cheaper one i just prefer mechanical https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Mechanical+Gaming+Keyboard&qid=1607515472&s=electronics&sr=1-3

Blue switches (Loud/clicky with tactile feedback)@ $40: Link
I'm using the first revision (as far as I can tell the only difference is mine has only red LED's for backlight, where that one is rainbow) and it works great, highly recommend it.
For a mouse, the logitech G502 is currently on sale on amazon for $40 as well, and I've heard good things about it. Link
it's the red dragon k552 it cost me about $35, heres the link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just bought one of these for my boyfriend. For the K552 there’s only a K552-RGB and a K552-KR. We spent a lot of time looking at Redragon boards and never saw one advertised as an RGB1 variant. Just the RGB and Rainbow RGB (the KR).
The K552- RGB has customizable RGB, it’s a little tedious since it’s all onboard rather than with a software but there are instructions on the top review on how to configure it. There are only 9 different colors to choose from, so you can’t pick some very specific hex color for your keys but it’s still an okay budget board for basic customizing if you’re into that.
There is also a white version of the K552-RGB
TheK552- KR is NOT customizable. There are 19 different modes to choose from but you can’t make certain keys one color like with the other one.
Just to be sure you’re getting the right one, I’d just order from Amazon.
Are you going to be gaming on this PC? I hate recommending mechanical keyboards for people that will be gaming with friends on an open mic. It really does get annoying when you hear CLACK CLACK CLACK CLAKCLACKCLACK through the mic.
This is a great keyboard for the money. 4.5 stars from Amazon reviews, even after filtering out the incentivized reviews. $34 for green switches (of course not Cherry branded at this price point) and it has red backlighting. https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
The Green switches are both a tactile and a clicky (loud) switch. You can both feel the tactile bump and hear the "click" that occurs when the activation point is hit. ... If you are used to lighter switches you may have trouble at first getting used to the feel of Green switches, as they are a stiff switch. Of course, I am not sure if this will hold true for this off brand. It may be quite easy to press, who knows.
There is also a cheaper non-backlit version, and a $50 RGB backlit version.
Here is an interesting offering for only $30. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N57WL39/ref=psdc_12879431_t2_B06ZY9YV1N
Blue switches, so it will be clicky (loud) and tactile. Blues are considered similar to Greens, just easier to press.
EagleTec also makes cheap mechanical keyboards worth a look. You might find an LED design from them that will go great with your build.
I got this one for $33 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
Yes, thank you. Op this build is a great starter build. I am going to break it down, and post some alternatives or upgrade options.
CPU: the ryzen 2600 is the best price performance cpu on the market right now. It is powering a ton of midrange and even low high end gaming pcs. GET THIS.
MOBO. a b450 is a good entry level mobo and will work with 2000 series cpus without a bios update.
Ram. Team Vulcan works great with Ryzen. a lot of budget ram does not. If you can spare the extra cash, it is much cheaper in the long run to go with 16GB of the same RAM for $125 if you can spare the extra 45.
An HDD. This is fine. Personally, I would find a way to spend the extra money and go with an 500 GB SSD like this, or this. I would then buy an HDD later. If those SSDs take this build over 700 which appears to be your price limit, then feel free to go HDD.
When it comes to PSUs I don't like this one from above, nor do I like Thermaltake smart. The one thing you should never cheap out on is the PSU, because if a bad PSU fails it can take down your whole system. The above model is described as a safety hazard by review sites, and the Thermaltake 500w smart is not recommended for the same reason. I would get this one. For 10 bucks more you get a classic excellent PSU. While this PSU doesn't have modern PSU features, this is a very solid PSU from a name brand. However, if you want a legit modern PSU then this one would be great, if you can spare the 23 extra bucks.
Finally, the Keyboard and mouse are fine. I got platinum god in the original binding of isaac on a cheapo keyboard combo like this. However, If you want some legit budget products check out the company red dragon. The red dragon kumara k552 is a well reviewed entry level mechanical keyboard, and the red dragon m801 mammoth mouse is excellent. Note that despite the name, the red dragon mammoth is actually great for small handed/medium handed people, as a short 5'6" dude with small hands I love my mammoth, it's the best mouse I ever used.
Here is a build with my suggestions for cost comparison purposes, it will be over your budget of 700 but it is a legit core gaming pc. Here is something to consider:

The biggest change is that I added an RX 580 which is a 1080 60 FPS beast which should allow 60 FPS at 1080 on high or ultra for the next 2 years at least in modern Triple AAA games.
I also added a 1 MS gaming monitor. This monitor is totally unnecessary for small time indies like don't starve, however, once you get a gaming pc, you might want to play some esports titles like fortnite and a 1 ms monitor will be nice for that.
Redragon 87 key mechanical keyboard on amazon, got one for me and my nephew I highly recommend and its only 30 bucks. Red LEDS Multicolor LEDS price difference is only a few bucks but a good keyboard nonetheless
Those are definitely some really good options for someone that wants to tinker and is on a tight budget! But to add to this, I also don't recommend building. Budget builds are typically $150-$200, and like vine mentioned, there are some prebuilt keyboards that are under $50 that can be purchased on amazon. For example : Red Dragon, Phantom Tecware (honestly, this used to be way cheaper but this is a pretty high quality board for it's price so it's totally worth it.), Velocifire, and many many more!
These prices aren't just Black and White.

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask what keyboard you use? I might just buy a new one to be honest. Like I said, I only bought a cheap one from Amazon for gaming and that suits me but I don't think I could do all the keycap stuff. This is the one I use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ Would I be able to switch out the keys do you think? But I don't think the red backlight would match anyway and I can't change it. What would you recommend that's anywhere from 0-200. I don't need the numpad on the right. I only use it for gaming.
Never fear, PriceKnight is here!

the redragon k552 is a good budget mechanical keyboard for about 35 dollars and the deathadder essential is a great budget mouse. also get whatever mouse pad you want
Both keyboards you link are membrane keyboard, it is not that much different, the only upside of corsair k55 it has a brand name and looks nicer than fiodio.

If you can go a bit above $50, you can get an Epomaker SK61 for $65 that has Gateron Optical Brown switches and Bluetooth.
Similarly, you can get the Dierya DK61E for $46 that has a lot of the same features.
While, yes, the $500 custom-DIY boards are certainly cool, there are plenty of boards in the sub-$100 range that are great. With the money you save, you could even buy a nicer set of keycaps to make the board feel even more luxurious.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_i_YAAnFbVV61G2G Only thing I miss is the number pad and it took some getting used too.
I have experience with a few keyboards but I still don't feel like I found one that satisfies me. I spend too much time on the computer.
Here are the keyboards that I've used and why I don't like them:
1st: Redragon K552 - My fingers strain and the keyboard seems too high. All this causes strain
2nd: Razer Huntsman - Strains my fingers less than K552 but very high and I think the straightness of the keyboard causes strain
3rd: Logitech K350 - Like the form but it is too mushy
4th: MX Keys - I love this one and the slim from but it would be perfect if it was more clicky like a real mech keyboard and had the ergonomic form. This is probably closest to what I want.
I know i'm probably being way to strict but isn't that why this mech keyboard exists? 😂. I've only used the pseudo blue switches and the optical switches. I spend most of my time programming.

Thanks for reading looking forward to suggestions.
Hey, Which are you looking for, cheap as in like as cheap as possible or cheap as in costing less than Corsair/Logitech (~$100)? One for $40: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NDDlFb5TYMYDB
One for $100, but a great one
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4322
Also, how big do you want it? 100% (all keys, numpad function keys, etc.), 80% (all except numberpad), or even less? What keys do you use? This is a bad subreddit to ask for a "cheap" keyboard, as the cheapest stuff considered "good" here cost upwards of $100. Just get the red dragon for a very cheap crappy keeb.
Get back to me.
Is this sale to good to be true ?

Building my first pc and this is the last thing I need.

Thanks :)
You can get a well-rated Redragon K552 TKL for $40.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/
Or a Dierya DK61E 60% for under $50.
This keyboard lights up, is mechanical, and is 40USD(don’t know conversion) https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U
I have the same laptop and I use it with this it has nice rgb, and pretty good switches imo—Redragon K552 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_86yhFbC1MEJY6

Prices were better back then, it came out to around $800. The performance will be good for what you're trying to do with it for the most part.
There were a few things that I brought the price down with:
I personally have this mechanical keyboard, since I'm cheap and like clicky keys. I have a Dell Ultrasharp monitor for color accuracy in video/photo editing, but I don't think that's a good deal for someone trying to save money. They're pricey right now because everyone working from home on their work laptops are trying to get a second screen.
I did also want to make you aware that we have Engineering Remote Desktops at UCONN which are specced to run the programs you're talking about. These are different than the typical UCONN Anyware in that they have a dedicated graphics card. It might be worth saving your money until this pandemic price hike wears off.
I added a few different keyboards and linked them below the PCP list

What kind of keyboard are you looking for? Mechanical? Clicky switches? Any specific features? I’m not a big gamer, but I feel like keyboards pretty much all do the same thing - I do like the feel of mechanical keyboards though.
Redragon makes nice budget gaming mechanical keyboards - their TKL model is on sale for about $28 right now at Amazon.
Look up VicTsing on Amazon. They make a lot of well rated budget gaming keyboards, some mechanical.
The Hyperx FPS Pro is supposed to be nice - lots of good reviews.
I have a Redragon K552 (RGB Backlit) and I love it! It is a bit loud but most mechanical keyboards are. The only downside is that there is no numberpad which is a plus if you are looking to free up some desk space for gaming or something. The colors are not as bright as I would like them to be but they are pretty to look at the key press is comfortable and responsive as heck. For $45 it is a very nice keyboard!
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Mechanical-Keyboard-Equivalent/dp/B016MAK38U
Here’s a cheap tkl and 60%
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07HFR85SB/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yeah I was looking off amazon, from the view on amazon it looked left handed. So basically my setup is gonna be this:
Keyboard- https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.uasDbVR9QVV5
Mouse- https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07QVB51L9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7wasDbW6TZTJV
Mousepad- https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000UEZ36W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2xasDbTE33RB2
Pro tip: look for non cherry mechanical blue keyboards
And renewed mice like this one... That's the best bang for your buck at $50
Renewed stuff is Amazon's best kept secret, I get tons of stuff renewed and it always works perfectly.
I was thinking in the Redragon K552 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ADz.Cb407ANQX
The new asus board doesnt have wifi so nyeh, it doesnt even have great features so lets get the master instead and ditch the wifi adapter.
The kingston a400 is slow and prone to fail within months, i spent the saved money on a 1 tb solid state drive.
Great HDD choice.
The g3 are excellent power supplies but for the most part the only advantage over the gq is that its smaller. The gq has all japanese capacitors, dont worry.
As for peripherals, the k55 is not mechanical, its quite expensive for a membrane keyboard actually and i would suggest looking at reddragon keyboards instead https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
Damn is the g502 cheap right now, much better option than the mx518 .
Well that headset is quite cheap but they are often bassy, crush sounds or have terrible virtualization. I strongly recommend this 668b which has an excellent soundstage and the software hesuvi https://sourceforge.net/projects/hesuvi/
With the stereo mix preset under the connections tab, it:
A)Doesnt add echo or reverberation to the sound source.
B)Doesnt break if the source is binaural. You dont have to disable virtualization if you enable dolby atmos on overwatch or hrtf on cs go.
C)Uses almost no RAM and 0,1% of your cpu.
How do i know the 668b has good sound quality? Im a non native english speaker and they helped me a ton with people with weird accents, also flac music suddenly made sense.
This is what I use
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hLwcDbG1QD1N1
This is the one I use
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hLwcDbG1QD1N1
Cheapest ones at the flea store market is what i would recommend.
You can look at cheap mechanical kbs like this one https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U Mind you not all "gaming" keyboards are mechanical, be attentive to mechanical like and keyboards from brands from corsair that seem a bit cheaper than they should be. Looking at you k55.

Monitor for the vega 56 https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6ktQzy/msi-optix-mag241c-236-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-optix-mag241c
Freesync, curved, va panel, 144 hz with 1ms response time. Whats not to like

Never been a fan of expensive mice but people swear by the g502 which is 45 dollars right now but getting the vega 56 comes first.
If he wants headphones, the superlux 668b and a software surround solution like hesuvi or windows sonic.

Actually forgot to link to the uk pages, sorry
Main Workstation
OS: 64bit Mac OS X 10.13.3c 17D47
Still quite a ways off from the "$1000" more and still under the "$100 more" estimate I initially gave. Look at what you get in return, much higher speed memory, an SSD, a powerful CPU/GPU combo that is enough to run most modern titles at 1440p/60fps and 1080p/80-90fps.
K552 is really solid keyboard, definitely recommend it
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_knQTCb1SM2K5G I recommend this I’ve had one and it’s pretty solid.
> What advantage does this have?
The fact I can simultaneously write code and look at documentation/videos/communicators, you name it. Also when you maximize an app it only covers one screen rather than your whole workspace. Comes in handy every day, working on just one screen makes me very sad. Imho a second screen is a great way to boost your productivity + it's also really cheap (you can pick up a used one for like 50-60€ easily and new ones are around 100€).
As for my complete setup (which is not semi-affordable, just to give you an idea on what people work with):
Any keyboard ever (to a point) would be good for gaming. It's all down to what you enjoy using, not what a company says is best.
If you wanted to get a mechanical keyboard that's decent for not a huge amount there's the Red Dragon and Aukey.
The keyboard was a spare my friend gave me.. I believe this is it.. it says it's a "cherry blue equivalent"
Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CVW3BbXTZT6ZR
There are some cheap ones on Amazon. An example of one is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
Redragon K552 KUMARA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Only 30 dollars for a mechanical keyboard, have gone through 4 months of use, haven't've regretted my purchase so far. Very happy.
Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_RPpPBbCRFQ4D3
Corsiar Hs50 is a decent headset for about $50.
Then a cheap mech like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/?tag=pcpapi-20 and mouse like this? https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Gaming-Buttons-Ergonomic-CENTROPHORUS/dp/B00HTK1NCS/
The Coolermaster PBT series of MasterKeys is always a great start.
However, if you want to go even cheaper than that, you can get a board with lesser known/clone switches, like the Redragon Kumara: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U?th=1
Don't mind the way the keycaps look too much, as long as they have an MX Stem (the plus) on the switch, you can use any keycap on them.
If you're looking to try something custom without spending a huge amount of money, and without soldering or needing any tools, take a look at my GMMK guide here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/876udp/guide_getting_started_the_super_easy_solderfree/
Is this any good? It's cheap and has great reviews.

I have two of the top one. I have used the bottom one multiple times, my friend owns it. Both excellent keyboards that I cannot recommend enough. I have a ducky zero shine, and a Das Keyboard 4 Ultimate. I rarely use either of them because I Iike the Redragon, both at home and at work.
Are you looking for a tenkeyless board?
Amazon has plenty with a smaller layout, and that one I linked is actually a decent board, not genuine cherry switches, but I'm sure you could find a decently nice one in your budget.
What kind of o-rings do I need for this kind of keyboard? https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U (don't know if they are different, but I own the Red Blacklight only version.)
Which budget TKL should I get: The Reddragon K552 or the Plugable recommended by the wiki?
If your budget is 80 per item id suggest the G502 and the drevo tryfing v2 if your budget is 80 Razer Naga Hex V2 - Ergonomic MOBA and this https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U?th=1&psc=1
That's all you need to get. No shipping hassle, covered by amazon. It's a pretty good mouse and keyboard :)
At sub-30 they're all pretty much the same in terms of build quality. But I'd probably get this one: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
I use this one, works great! Cherry Mx Blue imitation switches, louder though. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fDgxAbWXM247V

What are your guy's thoughts on this keyboard and mouse? I am just looking for a budget mechanical keyboard and decent mouse. Is there anything better than these?
There are multiple cheap alternatives to mechanical keyboards. I got this one, https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-RGB-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509987201&sr=1-1&keywords=kumara%2Bmechanical%2Bkeyboard&th=1 , there are others like , https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Illuminated-Industrial-KG010-EagleTec/dp/B015MPQQ0A/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509987329&sr=1-5&keywords=mechanical+keyboard , and I have never seen any raised WASD keys before, but Corsair and many others do sell WASD keys that are either textured, colored, or made to stand out compared to your other keys.
Looks like https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U i have one
What about the $31 k552 kumara led keyboard and for a mouse go to wish.com and order a deathadder chroma for like $20? (If you buy the mouse then go search for a 50% off first purchase promo code. Try until you get the 50% instead of 40% or 20%)
Edit: You can also consider the $30 Jelly comb keyboard, they say it's really good. I didn't want it because of the rainbow leds, but many youtubers were praising it when it came out.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
Red dragon kumara - mechanical and often sells for around £20 however it’s often sold out due to its deserved popularity
Ok, I was thinking about getting this keyboard and this mouse. They both have good reviews and look pretty nice.
I was just looking for a TKL mechanical to use in a couch gaming setup. I would have preferred an LED backlit variant, but not ~$8 worth of preference...
Thanks for telling me the name of the switches, until now the only thing i knew about them was they were some Chinese cherry mx clones. If anyone is interested if my keyboard they can buy it here
I just bought this on Amazon Prime Day:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
How does that compare to the Enthusiast here?
This is my exact build. I love it. Feel free to ask me anything.
BTW, you can get that monitor for $300 if you wanted to re-allocate funds.
As for the keyboard, you're looking for rubber dome. A good, cheap, entry-level mech is this one. I personally love it.

Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_T3Ppzb62ZHS2R
and
There's a couple that come to mind. The Redragon K552 or other variants. Not too sure how reliable they are, but from reviews they seem to be 'Greetech' switched (never heard of them)... found here
another one that I can vouch for is the Logitech G410. It's a little high on your budget but for ~$70 you can't really go wrong with RGB lighting. found here
Looks to be a generic 'gaming' branded membrane keyboard. Might be within your best interests to start looking at the cheaper Mech. lines.
The Redragon K552 and Monoprice 'Red' switch are both pretty solid choices for introductory boards.
Two real choices come to mind here:
This is a surprisingly good offering from Redragon, right around $35. They aren't Cherry MX switches so the quality control isn't going to be as good on them, but getting Cherry switches below $50 is difficult as it is.
Here's a pretty comparable choice from EagleTec. Again, build quality and consistency will be somewhat lacking, but that's kinda what you get from budget computer hardware in general. This particular one is just a little bit more than $40, but finding mechanical keyboards at that exact price point is somewhat difficult as it is.
I don't have any personal experience with either of these keyboards, and I'm not entirely sure about the reputability of either Redragon or EagleTec, but the reviews on both products are good, and Amazon has a pretty decent return policy just in case the product just craps out on you.
> 60% keyboard I actually have this mechanical keyboard https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It looks awesome but is too loud.
For just a little bit more you can get an actual mechanical keyboard. https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U Also RX 480 > 1060
These may not be wireless, but that might not be ideal for gaming anyways.
Here are some well-regarded yet surprisingly cheap mechanical keyboards. These should last a long time for their cost.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Backlit-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B016M91SS0
I don't know what you mean by scrolling text however.
The 2nd keyboard is much more expensive since it is bigger. If your son doesn't need the numberpad or has limited space, the first keyboard might be a good pick.
It is also generally better since the smaller keyboard puts your arms closer together which is a more ergonomic position.
I got this one a couple months ago -
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
It works amazingly.
nah fam, you can get blue switch (cherry clones but he didn't say cherry switches) keyboards for $40:
Looks to be a Reddragon K552. I have a Reddragon K555, it is actually a pretty decent MK. Full RGB too, and for a decent price.
Here is probably one of the best ones for about $35
Mechanical and RGB, Only one solid color at a time though ( I think)

https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-M901-PERDITION-High-Precision-Programmable/dp/B00GU8W5AE
I even did reviews of them on YouTube, if interested, ask me :)
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
I have this keyboard and I fuckin love it. It does have blue switches so its extra clacky, but man it feels and looks great
I ordered this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 not sure if i should cancel it or not. I bought it based on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUCzVP7ykpk but, i had blue switches before and my hands hurt. Just figured all red dragon switches would be similar. Anyway doesn't look bad for the price
You seem like you are on a budget, so I would try and stay below that £35 mark. I am using this. I uses knock off cherry mx switches. Its been pretty reliable for the past 6 months. There have been this wave of knock off keyboards coming out recently. Some have been using mechanical feeling switches, but from what I could find, these should both be real mechanical switches. Here are some that I found under £35
VicTop/TOMOKO Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Hope this was helpful.
lol wtf it's like 45$ iirc on amazon.com
I don't know, this should be below 50$
How about this, its mechanical and cheaper than the logitech
I've been using the k552 redragon for a year now and i love it. I also have a corsair strafe but prefer to use the redragon.
https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U

Edit: Got it after watching a couple of reviews on youtube. Looked good enough for the cost and I'm loving it so far.

I just got this keyboard and its pretty good. It's not cherry mx switches but its cheap. It is kinda loud though.
Is this actual mechanical? It says ''custom mechanical keyboard" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U?psc=1
Here I like this company, heard good things about the Kumara.
General recommendations would be the Magicforce 68, Redragon Kumara, Tomoko 87.
$25 is going to be close to impossible to find, if you can up your budget by another $15 you can get a Redragon Kumara, magicforce 68, Tomoko 87.
Maybe hunt around on /r/mechmarket and pray for a miracle.
Here. This one has clicky green switches & is fully backlit at $40. https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472616351&sr=8-1&keywords=mechanical+keyboard
CM Storm is a great membrane and mouse combo. my personal keyboard is a glorious Reddragon k552 mechanical keyboard. $40 and is a lot like the cosair k65 imo. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RqPWxbSCTMVQR

I've heard good things about this one. It doesn't have a numpad though.
I've heard good things about this keyboard. Review
For $25 to 40ish, you can get a magicforce 68, Redragon Kumara or Tomoko 87.
Alternatively you can hunt around on Ebay or /r/mechmarket for cheaper mechanical keyboards. Ones like the Quickfire Rapid go for ~$50 on mechmarket, and come with actual Cherry switches.

The kumara is actually made in the same factory as your OG quickfire and Red dragon is the current OEM for the monoprice keyboards. The AULA is a well reviewed and vetted budget board if you just hate LEDs.
That keyboard is not rgb, its not rgb on the website and its not rgb in amazon i know because i have the keyboard.

Slim as in no case?
Something like this? http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/
$40 for a simple TKL with mx blue clones on Amazon here

Keyboards:
This is a pretty cheap mechanical keyboard, someone made a video on it, said the keys are just like blues, and build is fully plastic, but feels good
> it has to be under 18 inches. ... I would really like a num pad if possible
Not possible. You're looking at a compact keyboard, like this RedDragon K552.
Best way to do it is get a card board box + some switches and a controller and then you mount the switches + controller on the cardboard box + hand wire them all together. This probably won't even cost you $35 and it will be a fully functional board.
There is also this for only $40
http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U $40 on amazon it's kinda loud but other than that I'm liking it
You can get a Redragon Kumara on Amazon for $40.
http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
Another member tried it and said it's not too bad, search for it.
And here's my guide for the seriously-budget-challenged...
If you're fine with cherry clones, these are a few I've been scavenging on amazon that look pretty decent.
$39: http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
$49: http://www.amazon.com/EagleTec-KG010-Industrial-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B015MPQQ0A
Redragon Kumara It's only $39.99 for the TKL model and $59.99 for the full size model, and yes it is actually mechanical.
supposedly this is decent. I'm on a tight budget myself, but I think I'll hold off and get something a littttle better when the time comes. I'm rockin some used dell surplus one now, but it works!
I took a chance with a Redragon k552 from amazon for $40 shipped. It's a tenkeyless mech with blue outemu switches and feels pretty solid so far(only had it for a few days so who knows if it'll have switches fail later)
If you’re willing to spend $4 more I know this is supposed to be the best extremely cheap keyboard available
To elaborate on my talking points:
I was conflating the used/new markets in the car example, so that's ....an oops on my part. You're right, new cars would go for way higher. I'm used to pricing used cars as an advocate for sustainability. Good catch.
With regard to the keyboard example, I undervalued the ergonomics of pricier keyboards such that we have RedDragon keyboards sell very well as a result of it. I do agree with the general idea that ergonomics ought to be valued more highly.
Hello! i´m trying to buy mi first mechanical keyboard. Due to my lack of knowledge i was looking recomendations and found the wiki of the sub. One of the low-budget keyboards in there is the redragon k552. So, looking for it in my country, i also found another redragon, the shrapnel K589. The second one cost like $20 more.
So, letting aside the numeric pad, is the difference worth it? i don´t want to expend extra money without purpose
Okay, now you're cherry picking, and you're not even making sense anymore. I just took this PSU because I initially picked the parts in my country and realized that USA would be more applicable, I didn't even bother to check for better prices in the US. Here's a PSU with a 4* rating over 500 reviews on Amazon, and it's even 25 bucks cheaper. The CPU is leaps and bounds better than whatever is in the 1X, it's bottlenecked by the 1060 in most games, whereas the 1X CPU is worse than a 9 year old CPU
I also didn't include an SSD because non of the consoles have one in their stock versions, SSDs are also much cheaper for PCs than for consoles, you're actually arguing against yourself here.
Add a mechanical keyboard and a gaming mouse that even CS:GO pros use, and you still have 20 bucks for a Win10 OEM key.
> If you build an all-in-one, you basically have to change everything (especially the PSU again) so I personally disregard that option completely.
So like a console?
just looked this up, maybe a hidden gem at $35.
also this razer is on sale http://www.bestbuy.com/site/razer-blackwidow-ultimate-2016-gaming-keyboard/4814900.p?skuId=4814900
I'd recommend this instead https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K552-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U
Quick notes * Doubleshot Backlit keycaps (not painted so won't wear off) * Outemu MX Blue Switches with red LEDS in clear housings * Little rubber booties make the legs stay put
If you want full size the monoprice Enthusiast series comes with Outemu and has white backlights. The Full size MX blue one is 45 on sale right now.
For 10 more dollars you could get this
I've used it for about 2 months (first mechanical keyboard) and to be honest i am very impressed and i dont think i'll ever be able to use membrane keyboards again lol
http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/
I plan on getting it ASAP.
Please do not downvote me just for being unfavorable toward this otherwise great deal. I have provided objective reasons for why I feel this way. Please hear me out.
I guess it's better than a rubber dome + membrane keyboard, but if you have even $15 more to spend on a keyboard then don't get this (cheap mechs on amazon are better).
Romer-G switches are really no fun. Their primary design goal was to have even lighting. They do that well, but don't type well as a result.
EDIT: Here's an review covering this. A key issue with Romer G tactile switches is that the tactile bump is so weak, that the switches are nearly linear.
