If having a free hand to use is important, I can recommend a multi-button mouse like this. GD can be played one-handed with this.
Source - Injured my left hand and this allowed me to game on.
When I decided I wanted to go wireless (my cats are far too interested in cords) this is the one I swapped to!
Oh and OP, this is the one I started out on! I liked it because it has weights that you can swap out to make it lighter or heavier based on your preference! Mine is still in perfect condition, but I made the wireless switch just because I was tired of my cats batting at the cord.
If you have the budget get this mouse and map it to hotkeys.
It really changed the way I play mages and even my 119/100 lvl 123RP
Im trash with arrowkeys + fkeys

If you can get good with your thumb and hitting the CTRL and SHIFT keys, I reliably can get 1-9 on each modifier with this mouse: Redragon M908 Impact RGB LED MMO Mouse with Side Buttons Optical Wired Gaming Mouse with 12,400DPI, High Precision, 20 Programmable Mouse Buttons https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HC4NBQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_Q0XC2DAVP2WPGQWK2S4M?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
OK this is actually kinda super cheesy but I have it and love it: this mouse

It has obnoxious configurable RGB (which I think is funny), and it has like 15 programmable buttons, which I use for 'normal' functions like ctrl-c ctrl-v as well as macros in games. It's compatible with Windows and Linux (via unofficial driver), but I don't know if it works for Mac (since Mac is BSD-based I don't think it's as simple as compiling the Linux driver).
A mechanical keyboard is nice too, if you know she doesn't have one yet. Clicky keyboard > food, in the Maslow hierarchy of needs. You can get really decent ones on eBay like under $100. The one I use is a cheap ass PS/2 one that's like 25 years old because I don't care about looks and my mobo has a PS/2 orifice, it cost me like ... $12 or something. (You can get ones that look nice for a bit more, of course.) The benefit is like the mouse, it's nice for typing memos and shit, as well as giving you that tactile feel for gaming.
Other than that, I can't think of anything off top of my head that would appeal to both a lawyer(-imminently-to-be) and gamer except maybe like, notebooks which have tasteful renditions of VG characters on the front?
Awww shucky ducky
The buttons are programable via an app and can me made to emulate complex keyboard input and maros all within the app
search amazon for "gaming mouse" they have tons in that style.
Here's an mmo variant with the same kind of shell: https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Impact-Buttons-Precision-Programmable/dp/B07HC4NBQ8/ref=sr_1_6?crid=216HZGNM1ZPZ7&dchild=1&keywords=mmo+mouse&qid=1621823303&sprefix=mmo+mouse%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-6
Personally, I’ve used a redragon mouse for maybe around a year now, hasn’t given me any issues at all. I use one with 12 side buttons, I haven’t used any of their other ones. But this one is super comfy! Hasn’t let me down yet lol
Ah no red dragon. Well at least it’s the same style of mouse
Redragon M908 Impact RGB LED MMO Mouse with Side Buttons Optical Wired Gaming Mouse with 12,400DPI, High Precision, 20 Programmable Mouse Buttons https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HC4NBQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_A9PAFY430VHQ0EE3HHEN
I think it'd be a cool feature, but I wouldn't use it personally.
I have a mouse with 12 thumb buttons, I have the rear buttons bound to weapon groups 3-6, then the front three are F2-F4. Top button is the top lancemate bottom is the bottom lancemate. F1 and F5 are middle buttons. I can fire commands out as fast as I can shoot my weapons and can get the right buttons by feel. Took a bit of practice but it's absolutely fantastic now.
I bought the mouse just for mechwarrior games, MWO has a ton of features like stealth/ecm/masc that all those buttons are handy for as well. Also have the command wheel in MWO bound to a thumb button, so I can press and twitch the mouse in one motion, which is why I do like the idea of a command wheel for those who don't have an excess of mouse buttons.
What? That's amazing (and seems really stupid). Is that true for any of their other models? They have one that looks just like the Venus: Redragon Impact RGB LED MMO Mouse with Side Buttons Laser Wired Gaming Mouse with 12,400DPI, High Precision, 19 Programmable Mouse Buttons https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HC4NBQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_l.MUCbW63GTQE
To consider a different direction altogether, have you considered an MMO mouse?

Here's a couple of the cheaper options so that'd be good to at least try it out and see. This moves your standard 123(...)0-= keybinds onto your right thumb, leaving your left pinky available for Shift and Ctrl (I personally rebind Caps Lock to Control using an external program), so my middle fingers never have to leave WASD. If you have the "bottom left" and "bottom right" bars enabled in your Interface options, you can bind them to a combination of Shift-# or Ctrl-# to have just about everything available.
This also facilitates certain "universal" mindsets, where for me, 0 is my class's movement ability, Shift+0 is my mount ability, - is my interrupt, = is my self-heal, shift+= is my defensive cooldown, my AoE's are usually on 6 and 9, main abilities and rotation are on 1-5, offensive cooldowns/trinkets are on shift+(1-5), etc.
It's a completely different option altogether, when you're probably used to holding your mouse with your thumb, but once you get used to it, you have access to just about every skill you have.
But things like this have been around for years with buttons on the side so you palm isn't just hitting buttons at random.

This is has been a thing for ages and is designed much better (buttons on side). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HC4NBQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_XJMY884JEA9D3184JDQH
This. and i recommend a red dragon m908
i know 12 buttons can sound intimidating, but once you get used to it you can never go back

there are other brands, you can program the buttons for w/a/s/d movement. etc.
I'd second getting a Redragon - they're pretty cheap but last a long time (I've had 2 over the last 4 years, I broke my first one by accidentally bending one of the buttons...), I haven't had any issues with the firmware resetting button settings etc. I use a M908 Impact, my wife has smaller hands than me and I got her a M901 Perdition to replace her razer naga (she had it for a year or so before it started giving her issues with the button maps resetting / occasionally the side buttons wouldn't register etc) around 3 months ago and she's enjoyed it / had no problems with it so far. She specifically was worried about it being too large (she's around 5' 3" or so), I figured that at $30 worse comes to worse if it was too big we could have it as a nice backup mouse. It took her maybe an hour or two to get used to it, but now she says she thinks its the perfect size.
