makes shaving much faster, works in the shower comes with a bunch of guards if you decide to grow your beard, and you'll be less likely to miss little lines
Also, If your hair is that thick all the way back, you should absolutely go with a mohawk for at least a day.
I battled this same issue and after a decade of throwing every treatment other than hair transplant onto my scalp I finally found the solution. It’s a scary solution to apply but it’s incredibly effective. My confidence is back and I no longer worry about my combover. [link]
I receded a bit about 15 years ago and it pretty much stayed that way. Lately though I'm started to get the pattern HA HA.
IDGAF. I use one of these fuckers
Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit (Amazon)
It's a damn good piece of kit.
Can't agree more. My local Just4Him was always stupid busy. I'm talking 2+ hours of my time and $20 for a buzzcut. Dropped $50 on a pair of clippers on Amazon and cut my hair twice with it so far and it's almost paid for itself already.
[link] The pair of clippers I bought for anybody interested in cutting their own hair. Highly recommend it.
I just started buzzing my head with no guard like a month ago and my head gets really cold in the mornings lol I live in LA so it's not really THAT cold but yeah, I use beanies or hats in the mornings then take it off as the day gets warmer. I use this for my head ([link]) small and not too expensive
I've been using the Remington head shaver.
It has a curved blade. It's also cordless and can be used wet or dry. Some people like to head shave in the shower.
It's not the cheapest shaver, but it's worth the extra 💰
I buzz my head with no guard, I use this thing to buzz my head. It's compact but pretty fast. I don't shave just yet, I'm a diffused thinner so I do a buzzed style for now. Down the line when I do have to shave I figured I'll just use a razor.
Last year before the Covid crisis, I was lucky enough to buy these Remington Shortcut Self Haircut Clippers. It's designed to be easier and better for cutting your own hair because it's cordless with a lithium-ion rechargable battery and much wider curved blades that fits easily in the palm of your hands. I've saved so much money and hassle by being able to trim my own hair in less than 10 minutes.
Obviously it won't replace a barber for complex cuts, but for simple clipper cuts, these clippers work great, better than I hoped. They were out of stock for a long time when the Covid hit, but now they're back in stock, along with a bunch of shitty Chinese ripoffs of the look, but without the quality battery and construction of the original that I bought. It immediately paid for itself in savings I haven't been to a barber in more than a year. I can trim my hair whenever I want for free.
Bro I'm barely 27 and after my barber straight up told me "there's nothing to be done" I've been bald for what I think is almost two years now. No time like the present my guy.
If you're still on the fence, imo the best way to do it is just to jump straight to a 1/2 and see what it's like before you go to a no-guard. Not gonna lie, it'll look weird AF for a while, but you'll get used to it, and since you've already got a beard, you won't go through the awkward egg phase either. If you're looking for something to do it with, I use a Remington Shortcut Pro and a hand mirror and get my whole head (and the back of my neck) done with either a no guard or a 1/2 in less than five minutes about once every two weeks or so. Just gotta be careful around the beard, but other than that it's easy, and saves a ton on trips to the barbershop.
I have a pair of these, they're rechargeable and have a nice curve to the blade so you can use them everywhere, i also have a rechargeable mini vacuum.
Highly recommend this...it’s water proof so just use it in the shower every couple of days.....
Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit, Beard Trimmer, Hair Clippers for Men (13 pieces) [link]
I was reading the reviews on amazon for this. I always read the 1 star reviews and can never find flawless products- maybe I just need to bite the bullet and buy one. Do you have a product recommendation?
I use these clippers and you need a hand mirror for the blind spots. Also note you might fuck up your first haircut using the clippers, in that case you can always trim hair with a lower setting or wear cap for a week :)
I use this and I love it. No cord, wet or dry, really nice blades on it. It's quiet and powerful and shaves smooth. Cuts hair like butter. A little pricey but these last for decades so it's a good longterm investment.
This is the item i got
Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit, Hair Clippers, Hair Trimmers, Clippers, (13 pieces)- [link]
It was a deal of the day when I got it. There is few reviews saying that it came in brown box not the retail packaging but there is multiple sellers for this item.
This one. Seemed quite reasonably priced with a good number of reviews. I've had a few weeks so can't really vouch for how long it will last but the coombes feel sturdier than the crappy Philips ones I had on my last shaver. It's quieter and wider which speeds things up a bit - [link]
While it isn’t going to shave you completely bald, this trimmer is awesome for your head.
I have this. Pricey but good.
Dude this trimmer is awesome for cutting/buzzing your own hair.
I actually look forward to buzzing it now, it’s so easy and fast.

I've been cutting my hair and beard for 4 years. There is a learning curve to make it to look good, but if you're willing to settle with an average haircut, I highly recommend doing it at home. The only thing I really struggle with is the nape of my neck. That can be a very daunting area to cut. Luckily, there's foolproof technique to doing it. You can buy a guide online or make your own with some cardboard.
Out of all the trimmers I've used, nothing has come close to the Remington HC2450. It fits easily in the hand and is curved to match the curves of our heads. It also works really well for sectioning. Just hold the blade vertically and run it along the side of your head to separate the sides from the top.
But if you're wanting to cut a fade, you'll want a smaller blade set like the one he uses in the video.
Not sold out on Amazon-
Best clippers i've ever used. An quiet as hell.
This isnt a foil shaver, but it does a great job!
You might find this useful for buzzing your own hair.
handheld remington with the curved blade:
These clippers are really easy to use.
I use this:
I used to use a Wahl clipper, but this has worked pretty well since the blade is wider and curved. Makes the buzz faster.
