Whats your budget?
My mom got my kids these last year and they are pretty fun. They can't flip them over either as they keep going no matter what. They are a little zippy, can spin around etc.
The original tyco rebound.
can't get them anymore, pretty sure they stopped making them since they never broke and nobody ever needed to buy another.
A few years ago my sister bought this for me and the kids, pretty sure it was this one:

It was as close as she could get to our lost childhood rebound. The wheels aren't locked but it works pretty much the same. It's like the rebound 2 but both sides swivel and you can't lock them.

I remember taking the rebound off of our house roof, down stairs, off the retaining wall in the yard, shed roof...
all i ever had to do was re-glue the body shells back on after the first 5 years or so.
I think most of the durability with these is that the tires take almost every hit the car would suffer from, and the tires are not solid so they absorb some good hits.

Search for RC "Stunt" Car--They have tank drive and are invertible. Sadly, there's not much in the one lbs. range that has the multichannel 2.4GHZ radio control that bot competitions require ^{see ^the ^Amazon ^links ^below} .
If you move up to beetleweight you could make a bot from a cheap RC "Stunt" car.
- 1. Fit an invertible wedge to the front.
- 2. Change to foam wheels or fill the RC's wheels with expanding foam.
- 3. Figure out a way to armor the RC car---Use a Lexan tube???
- 4. Add light, square, aluminum tube or bar to the rear of the RC car as a bashing bumper.
- 5. HAVE FUN! Such a RC "Stunt" car would be very useful as target practice, and to hone bot battle skills against a serious beetleweight.
