Adorable geck! However, there are some changes you should make to ensure he has a happy life with you. I’ll try to list them out below

• Like others have said, don’t use any type of sand! They accidentally ingest it with their food, which leads to impaction, which leads to (over time) death. Paper towels will work as a quick substitute
• Make sure he’s got at least three hideouts - one by his heat source, one on the opposite side, and one in the middle. If you’re on a budget, you can make these out of small tissue boxes or paper towel rolls
• Gutload his food and dust it with a calcium supplement. This makes sure he won’t get metabolic bone disease (look up pictures if you’d like, it’s awful). I recommend Repashy Calcium Plus
• If you use a heating pad, make sure you have a thermostat (around 90 degrees f) so that he doesn’t get burned

There is a lot more, but I touched on the basics. You definitely need to read some of the links that have been provided for you - if you’re a kid, try doing it with a parent. Oh.. yeah you definitely need to start buying food for them, earthworms, crickets, dubia roaches, and mealworms would all be good for them. I doubt that junebugs are very good for them, and I'd imagine that cockroaches probably arent the cleanest bug to give to your pet. Also whenever you feed your toads you need to dust them with calcium and vitamin D powder or else they are at risk of catching MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease) which you really don't want, This is what I use for my pets and it works pretty good for them, so I'd highly recommend getting that or something similar.

Definitely looks neglected, poor fella :( I’m glad you want to take the step to treat him better! Hopefully he has a clean bill of health when he goes to the vet!

One thing, they definitely don’t need a water bowl, at least not all the time, as it will cause the tank to get humid and that can make them sick. They get a lot of their hydration from their food and will occasionally drink when they’re bathing - but if she isn’t adequately feeding him or bathing him, then he’s not getting hydrated enough. Secondly, maybe it’s the picture, but that tank looks SUPER dark and that means he’s probably not getting good UVA/UVB or heat. I recommend getting t5 tube lights if there isn’t already one. It’s also worth looking into getting him vitamins for his food so he can get the extra nutrition since he looks like he has MBD (although I can’t be certain, I’m not a vet it’s just a thought). The vitamins won’t cure it, but he can at least be a tad healthier. Good luck to you and the lil dude! 💖

They don’t need d3, I am not sure if it will build up in their system.

I’m going through the same situation. I posted this same question a while back and got this response which makes sense to me. From what I can tell, they have been going down, but if you are concerned, you could get away with taking the calcium bowl out. From what it sounds like, your boy is taking in more calcium than he can use. He should be perfectly fine with dusted insects.

Also, idk what calcium and vitamins you are using, but I’d highly suggest Repashy Calcium Plus. It’s a perfect balance of all the vitamins, calcium, and d3 you would need as long as you dust every feeding!
