Ok, finally home.
My favoriate book is probably Rock Picker's Guide to Lake Superior's North Shore Hands down the best resource for IDing the rocks you find on the North Shore.
I see that there is something weird going on with their website and the Map PDF, so I cannot figure out the names of the pits... I can do this however:
The is called the Soo Line Pit. This is the one I would go to if you have kids because it is basically a giant sand box. You can see the pit on google earth there as the big sandy box. In the bottom right is the parking lot, which I marked on the map. This is also the easiest one to get to from the highway. It does have a bit of a hike however.
This bad boy is probably my favorite. Unlike the Soo Line pit there isn't a hike involved. It is also better labeled, imo. I have found the best agate's here. It is also right off of agate, road (fitting) and next to a private, but clearly labeled private pit. So be considerate.
If you don't find anything in those pits and want to try something else, there is also the airport pit however, I have never been here, so I actually don't know its exact location. I am mostly guessing on this map, so it might be a bit of an adventure to find it.
