A bunch of years ago I read Rogue Warrior by Richard Marchinko where he talked about the hayday of the Seals and all the badassery therein. Within the Seal culture is there a hero that as a group you guys look up to?
Also, I have to disagree on the HK 416 recommendation, because it totally sucks in Battlefield 3, FAMAS all the way.
Thanks!
I'm wrapping up reading Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko. Very much worth the read. I'm over 3/4 of the way in, and it made me realize that if I could do it over again, I think I'd have at least given BUD/S a shot rather than go Army like I did.
Any relationship to Richard Markinko and his Red Cell experience that he talks about in his book.
Article behind paywall, so unable to read.
Actually I don't know why I didn't think of this before. It is humorous but there is some truth to it. I completely forgot about the story of Richard Marcinko
"Marcinko maintains that he was the subject of a witch-hunt for his work with Red Cell and that the fraud committed revealed the weaknesses of military security. Marcinko has detailed his arrest and confinement in the last chapters of his autobiography."
His work in the SEALs was groundbreaking and furthered our counter-terrorism knowledge today. When he got out he formed the SOS Temps which was run by himself and some of the people from his autobiography and fictional stories thereafter. The SOS Temps always reminded me of a real life A-Team. {Cue the Music}
As you can see, even for people who are military heros, this can happen. Take heart and know that getting through this is what is most important. Edit: typos
KISS is a running theme in Richard Marcinko's books.
Ahh, good old Demo Dick. His book was an EXCELLENT read! I HIGHLY recommend it. It explains a lot about the Teams and why they're given the numbers they are and what Rogue Cell is all about.
