Honestly I don't really have any secrets! I just use this grow light for 12-14 hours a day and it keeps it happy enough. I've never had any luck growing these guys in direct sunlight to be honest.

Its expensive, but works like a dream, and you can raise and lower it as needed. My one complaint is that it doesn’t come with an automatic timer, so you have to plug and unplug it every dag.

It’s a Root Farm LED grow light! I got it on a clearance sale at my job luckily but Amazon and EBay have them! It’s a great light with barely any heat output.

I've had my lithops under this Root Farm light for 1-1/2 years with excellent results. Yes, it's expensive but I know it works.

I'm looking to increase my growing space in the next few months and am watching this discussion closely as well as doing other research. Txpep talks about grow lights in their writings, you might check that out, link below. One consideration for me is that I have to be careful not to draw too much power, so I'm primarily looking at LEDs (which the Root Farm light is).

Well they are in the Aerogarden Harvest Elite. But also I got the Aerogarden Grow Light — it works as a stand at adjustable height (not that tall) or it has hooks for hanging at whatever height. It’s very basis and no light switch— you have to unplug it manually every day. It’s also very very good at burning some plants even from farther away than what they recommend. But, overall if you hang it at least 6-7” away from hardly leaf plants and 10-15” away from tender ones - you get very good growth.

This person has some beauties posted on reddit and uses a Root farm light. 11hrs/day. the light is about 6-7 inches above the tops of the plants. Its crazy that a grow light doesn't put how many lumens that it gives off. This light has red, white and blue lights. Most people seem to use stronger lights with longer duration but these look great!
