it's kinda sketchy because it's a Korean (i think) el cheapo set, but i have a pair of sades gaming headsets with pretty nice audio quality and the best mic I've ever had on a headset. they were only like $50 on amazon, i'll see if i can find a link when i get home.
EDIT - Found it
Budget - Up to $250 USD, Preferably less.
Source -Most of the time Home PC or laptop, Occasional Phone use as well.
Requirements for Isolation - Some, to alot, While I am at work, I will need to hear loud alert tones for when i have to go somewhere.
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Most likely not. Maybe once.
Preferred Type of Headphone - Over the ear, fullsized I really enjoyed the shape of the headphones I have linked below.
Preferred tonal balance - Mixed, however I have a fondness for bass emphasis.
Past headphones - These. I like them because they made sound... They were durable and I wasn't asking much of them at the time, but now I want serious sound and have the funds to make it possible.
Preferred Music - A large range of music from classical, to modern pop music. I listen to a lot of Organ, Cello and Choral music, but also have a favorite playlist of the top 100 pop songs I listen to. Nothing gets me giddier than hearing the bass tones of an organ or a cello as if I am in the same room as the instrument.

I picked up these back in May and have been super satisfied. I was skeptical and didn't want to spend a lot but I took a chance and have been happy since. The mic quality is fantastic. I also wear glasses and don't notice any discomfort after extended play periods, although I do adjust my glasses every now and then naturally. The only thing with these is just to make sure you don't pull them out away from your ears to put them on. I only pull them out and little and try to slide on front/back. I read reviews of the over the head band breaking if you're too rough, but since I'm pretty careful with my things I haven't had any problems. Plenty of volume. Descent outside noise cancellation. Lots of durable cord. I would recommend.
Sades Stereo 7.1 Surround Pro USB Gaming Headset with Mic Headband Headphone (White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HLUZX7M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_04ZDwb1Y04Q68
Go with the Sades then brother
Only $25.80 right now, offer virtual 7.1, so still get quality sound in games and the mic with these units are pretty good to, I used to have a Sades as well and my friends have never complained about my voice on their end
It is a good choice in the end, amazing price and quality ratio as well :)
So... Can you put the modmic on the 558
Edit - Also, the 558s are $140ish... plus the price of the modmic or zalman. These (http://www.amazon.com/Sades-Surround-Headset-Headband-Headphone/dp/B00HLUZX7M/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1423805460&sr=1-5&keywords=7.1+surround+headset) are $30. I'm not an audiophile by any means, so I have hard time justifying the extra $120 or so to buy those.
I personally use this one. It's pretty great.
Putting all jokes aside, it was some nice fan work. Plus Jeremy endorses it. So that has to count for something.
I am using this "USB-Gaming-Headset" for a few years now. It works quite nice on Linux and the controls work too, although there is a bug, when you turn down the volume it mutes completly.

Fix for the muting problem: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio/Troubleshooting#No_sound_below_a_volume_cutoff
There is a propriotary windows-only software for enabling "virtual 7.1 sound" but the headset works great without it.
I have had these for 2 years and they are still great, definitely going to buy them again when my current pair eventually break.

I have also heard of this company and they make pretty solid headsets with Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound:
and another one: http://www.amazon.com/Surround-Headphone-Sensitivity-Microphone-Noise-Canceling/dp/B00SUUTSA0/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1434769386&sr=1-4&keywords=Sades ($39.99)
These are a bit more cheaper and actually look a lot more "cooler" with the LEDs, so I would recommend these if you do not really care about having authentic 7.1 Surround sound like the Logitech G430 has, other than that I would recommend the Sades headsets
The headset I got.
