Well done you for being a researcher! I found reading the posts on Advice as informative as anything I've read. As a fellow reader I'd just say to keep your mind open and not believe anyone saying there is only one true way. The truth is there's what suits you and your partner and that so long as you communicate you.ll be fine. You certainly appear to be thoughtful and to be taking your time - both excellent things.
There's the three word mantra too - safe, sane and consensual. Stick to those principles.
