I use these for moving gas around:

13$, works well. I suck the fuel out of the bike every race and put a certain amount in, and I have to pull race gas out and run pump gas through before I leave the track so I’m using it constantly.
I grabbed one of these as well as a backup. Safety Siphon - The Original Safe Multi-Purpose Self Priming Pump By The Original Safety Siphon - 6 Foot High Grade Hose, 1/2" Valve https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BG1X54/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_E7J2Q9M5X1R67PSBNT6B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I use this product to get samples out of my carboy.
Never had much luck with a two-piece wine thief. They always leaked for me. Plus you need a lot of headspace over the carboy to fit it in.
I use the below item move gas around between my gas cans and my generator. I never actually had to use it to siphon gas from my car as I stockpile lots of gas in cans before the hurricane lands.
If I did need gas from a car I would probably shove a piece if PVC pipe in the tank to get past the anti siphon valve and then run my hose inside the PVC.

You could use a siphon, this one is nice, but it's up to you.
I was saying this just the other day. But I don't own a fishpro. Sucks to be me. But if I get a fishpro I'll use this to get the old gas out of it. https://www.amazon.com/Safety-Siphon-Safe-Multi-Purpose-Priming/dp/B000BG1X54
Get a safety siphon my dude, it's a game changer. BTW jet fuel tastes way worse. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BG1X54/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_T0T9DY58D9SDDAYWZ685
(Edit: I meant that mostly to other people, but attached it to your comment as a better fit as compared to starting a new, out of context, comment. I know a guy who's been riding KLR for years, and was shocked when I showed him the video . . .that I'd only discovered by accident myself.)
That's a smart idea. I bet if you called any (small town/non-chain) restaurant and asked them to have a couple lawnmower style gas containers and offered a few extra bucks on top of a meal + gas cost, they'd have that ready. Worst that happens is you don't show up, and they put the gas in their car. I will put that in my mental toolbox.
There's also the simplest emergency motorcycle gas tank of all. Just be prepared and use whatever transfer container you have at hand.
Note: Get approval first; I'm not suggesting anything illegal.
edit: type of restaurant.
