the card in OP is U1 rated, meaning a guaranteed minimum speed of 10MB/s (theoretical much higher).
If you are going full digital the mininum you need is 200/256GB but if you still buy physical games then 128GB is good enough. I bought one with 128GB but from Samsung because I trust them more when it comes to flash storage(Their SSDs are great) and because I have read multiple times that you can get fake ones when buying this SanDisk model even with Amazon as a seller.
Here is the Samsung model if you want to purchase one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
Samsung evo select with same specs for $28 on amazon. It's been as low as $20.
Also, newegg has the red card for $30.
I'm normally all for buying OEM when possible, but with something like this, there's literally no advantage buying this over the samsung for the switch.
This is $0.3125/gb, the 128gb Evo Select card is currently $39.99 on Amazon ($0.3124/gb): https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1516139164&sr=1-3&keywords=128gb+micro+sd+card
silicon power makes decent ssds
You can usually get a 120gb Samsung MicroSD for $20 though Link to one on Amazon
This is the lowest price for this MicroSD card ever according to CamelCamelCamel but hasn't been posted as it's own post. (At least in my search.)
Great for digital only buyers.
Sold by Amazon.
Here's the link for the 128GB version. Also at it's lowest price ever according to CamelCamelCamel.
Samsung Evo Select 128gb micro SD cards are $29 on Amazon right now, no need to wait till black Friday.
64 gb cards at $16.
Saving $4 to $10 isn't worth risking getting a fake.
You never want to go with a "random guy"'; always check the reviews and seller feedback. Memory cards are often hacked to display higher storage than they actually have, because it's extremely cheap and easy to do.
Here's another option through Amazon for $25.
Amazon had a black friday deal on them last I checked.
This 128GB one or the 64 GB version would be fine.
Get this one, it's in my phone. Evo select. It's U3 speed. The sandisk on Amazon for the same price is the slower U1 speed.
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zi-8CbK841ZEB
I only trust samsung or sandisk cards; they're the only brands that have never failed on me.
Here's a great deal on the samsung evo select 128GB card. This is the best microsd card for the money. The sandisk ultra is the same price, but a bit slower, so I always go for the samsung if prices are close.
Samsung evo select is an sd card that samsung made to sell exclusively on Amazon. It's sold directly by Amazon so no worries about fakes. It's a really fast card (which the Switch probably won't need), but if you ever need an SD card later on, this will still be useful in the future. They're priced really well. I just got one and it works great.
Edit: oh damn. Looks like it's sold out, but you can get it from the Warehouse for cheaper.
$45 MicroSD card, sold by Samsung through Amazon. The odds of this card being "fake" are slim enough that I'd wager real money. Sandisk sells the same thing for the same price.
Definitely beware of $20 128GB cards, but $40 could be achievable, especially during a sale.
Edit: Link
I posted a link to an SD card earlier and used the URL from my "saved for later" list in Amazon. Apparently the bot here can't tell the difference between that and an affiliate link, but anyway, is this a good card for $39.99?
I personally use the Samsung EVO 128GB (bought off Amazon at that link) and don't have any complaints. If you download a lot / all of your games, then you may potentially want to consider bumping up a size (I'm not close to filling the 128GB after a year of having it).
First of all What you want to look for is a class 10 card that's certified at least at U1.
This one is currently on sale on Amazon, and like TemptedTemplar said, the bigger you can buy it, the better
Yes 20. Search on amazon sd cards. The recommend gb is 32. So 20 bucks gets you that and more.
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Full-Size Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1pJlEb6AZ5S4N
It doesnt need to be super high end recording 4k crazy fast. It's just 1080p video
Not a bad idea. :)
I'm looking at my Amazon purchase history now. I bought the older version of this one: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSDXC-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
The newer one appears to be a bit faster than what I have, and it's only $5 more than what I paid. Bummer. Lol.
Samsung Evo select on Amazon. It's Amazon exclusive and basically the exact same as other Evo select cards 64gb is $22 and 128gb is $44 last I checked. They are class 10 uhs-1 speed grade 3 (U3). 100mb read and 90mb write. Also water proof, can withstand extreme temps, xray and magnetic fields equivalent to an MRI scanner.
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
There's a discrepancy between your UK amazon, and my US amazon then. Its 44.99 1 day shipped.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And they fucked up, so I managed to get 2 for that price lol. Woohoo, go amazon!
I'm a little antsy when it comes to "2nd hand" ownership, or sites without a strong return policy, such as amazon's personal warehouses. I bought a 256 GB Officially branded, sealed ADATA SD card, and it was resealed to look brand new as it was only a 16 GB SD card off ebay. Thank god for paypal, because Ebay would of said to wait a month.
I hear ya on that. I wound up getting one of these. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
Amazon warehouse had an opened one being sold for $38. I couldn't say no. I'll make due. I have an sd2vita on the way as well. Going to get another 128gb in the coming days for it. I'm not exactly sure how this will work though, having both usbmc and sd2vita, but I'm hoping I'll be able to run stuff off both.
I just bought the 128 GB evo select from Amazon for $45. It is rated built for UHD 4k videos.
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_nJ5Vzb6N9RTVN
Thank you guys, I just made the order for the Samsung Evo Plus 128 GB for $39.99 on Amazon. Here's a link if anyone's interested (https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1516321091&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=samsung+evo+plus+128+gb+amazon)
*64GB
Depends on your preferred format. If you're physical, 64GB would be enough for updates, DLC, and smaller indie games. If you're mostly digital, 64GB would fill up quickly. Additionally, switching microSD cards requires a system reboot.
Would be better to get a 128GB from Amazon for $27: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ For $2 more, you get the same amount of space, but all on one card, eliminating the need to swap cards around.
Samsung 128 GB MicroSD card, just $20 at Amazon right now. Just got one for my S10+!!!
you do need a class 10 or UHS-1 which i believe is around 100Mb/s, above that it won't do any difference. i reccomned you to check Amazon exclusive Samsung Evo cards. Like this one
Can confirm! Thank you for posting this. I was a couple months past the 30 day return window on Amazon. In case anyone else is dealing with the same issue, reach out to them anyways! They offered to send me a replacement card with no hassles, as well as a return shipping label.
This is the Samsung EVO Select card I purchased, and my order said "Sold by: Amazon.com Services, Inc" on the invoice. Very surprising to get a counterfeit from Amazon.
I should have checked earlier - I honestly wasn't aware this was a thing. After inspecting it, all the signs are there - the side of the card has black edges (not white), the read/write speed hovers around 15 MB/s, and H2testw says that only 28.3 GB is okay - so like others have pointed out, it's a 32 GB counterfeit card posing as a 128 GB Samsung.
Samsung Evo Select is a good choice. It goes up to 512GB. EVO Select is an Amazon exclusive branding of the EVO Plus.
For 1TB I think you have to go to the SanDisk Extreme
I'd grab something like this (Samsung 128GB U3): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
Not sure if the Moto G6 takes full advantage of the faster speeds a U3 card provides, but at least you know the card itself won't be the source of any sort of bottleneck.
I have a u3 card. On pc it’s perfectly fine and fast at a minimum 30MB/s write and Up to 100MB/s & 90MB/s read & write speeds. When I connect it to my MacBook it takes forever and I can’t see the transfer speed only time .
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP
I am using this card now and get dropped frames and " insufficient speed" error messages.:
According to websites the camera bitrate is up to 120mbps.
I bought this exact card for my Hero7 Black and it works like a charm. It's also listed on GoPro's website as compatible. Just make sure it is "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com", otherwise you risk getting a fake from 3rd party sellers.
The Deals' theyre offering on "select memory products" arent really deals. Just deals on those specific memory cards.
The Samsung EVO select cards are still cheaper and better for the Switch specifically.
And if you can wait a month, there will be a ton of even better deals as we get closer to black friday and cyber monday.
Couple days late but fwiw, I would recommend the Samsung card over this one. I was one of those folks that received a fake Sandisk, while Amazon Customer Service was quick to refund me it was just a hassle. I've read even more reports of fakes going out, so I'd just avoid this particular card for now. (I've bought tons of Sandisk cards over the years without trouble, it just seems like this particular version is being flooded with fakes)
Here's the card I ordered to replace it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ok right on, last question. Is there any specific brands or variants i shouldn't use or "wouldn't run" with a sd2vita adaptor. Since you mentioned it i was looking at this one
Hey everyone, I just got a Hero 6 Black and I got this Micro SD card for it. I just found this sub and the list of approved SD cards and mine wasn't on it, how bad is it that I have one that isn't approved? Also, what downsides will I see from it not being a good one? Thanks in advance for any answers to this!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
How odd! This is the SD card I use.
I just took another picture on pro mode, and I made sure to not make it a "default" pro mode picture (if that makes any sense). I just made some changes to the photo settings (just moved the ISO around) so it was a true "pro picture" and my file path looks like this:
/SD Card/DCIM/Camera 2.41 MB 4032x1960
It's just an JPG, though. Maybe it saves to the SD card because it's not a RAW/DNG file?
Im personally 100% digital unless I can find a great deal on a physical copy.
Digital Pros: you never have to carry cartridges with you, never need to get up from the couch and can switch between games incredibly fast.
Digital cons: With only 32gb in the switch, you need a memory card. Also, if you buy something you don't like, there's no way to get your money back and you obviously can't sell it.
Physical pros: collectors items, art and extra content included with physical copies and you can sell it if you don't like it or you've finished it and won't play it anymore.
Clear cons are that you have to swap carts and carry them with you everywhere, and they're pretty small and kind of easy to lose.
> U3 rating is a 30MBps minimum sequential write speed, not sure where you get 100MBps from
Technically correct. However there are a number of U3 cards that are 100 MByte/sec, most popularly this one:
> Regardless, OP said nothing about what the rated speed is of his card, so what does it matter.
My point was less about the rating, and more that 18 MBytes/sec isn't really a "decent" speed.
They're roughly the same price per gb; $20/64GB, $40/128GB.
IMHO, the 128GB is a safer bet.
The two most frequently bought cards are the gray and red sandisk ultra and the green and white samsung evo select. The samsung is the better performer by a bit, so prices being equal, I'd go for one of those.
I love anker gear. You can also get an SD card for extra storage, amazon currently has a 128gb samsung card for $40. Fastest read/write so you can record 4k straight to the card if you want.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Samsung EVO cards at Amazon, as I understand are exclusive to Amazon and are nothing more than GREEN repackaged version of same card you can get at other retailers but many time marked down really good, I got the the 128 gb for 36$ around christmas which was one of the best deal around at the time and rated for faster speeds than the Switch can even handle
39.99 now for 128gb
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Of course I felt cofomtable getting 128 gig as I don't want to be digital download unless I have to but every game has patch and patch adn DLC after DLC , but get as big as you can stand to pay for and feel you need.
I second what /u/J4nG says about the card. I've had issues on cards that I've connected to both my PC and phone. I think Windows messes them up until I reformat them on the phone.
FWIW, I've never had that issue with Google Play Music and this card.
If 30fps doesn't have the lag but only 24 does, then shoot 30 and export down to 24 (as in dropping frames). You'll end up getting the overall result you wanted anyways. If you go this route, you might get better results shooting at 50fps or 60fps and exporting to 24fps. Don't forget the a6000 is a model that came out as Sony was getting good at video, it doesn't surprise me it has some quirks.
Also, another thing that can cause lag is a SD card that isn't fast enough. Keep in mind just because it says Class 10 U3 doesn't mean it's fast enough. Vendors advertise READ speed, but not WRITE speed, and slow writes cause problem. I use this SD card on my Sony a7ii, which writes at 90MB/sec and it works amazing. I bought a second one and use it in my Sony a5100 too. Keep in mind Sony is notorious for problems with SD write speeds, it's one of the factors of why their cameras overheat, faster cards cause less overheating.
Using a SD card that's not fast enough is a common problem for modern cameras, especially ones that support 4k video or 1080p at a high framerate. I usually recommend this, especially for Sony shooters:
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
If you don't plan on doing much video, you can just get the 64GB model and save a little.
I think this 128 GB, U3 Samsung for $20 is a better buy.
Seconded. 128GB for $20.99, 256 for $44.99, 512 for $99.99. There's no fucking reason not to.
Get whichever of these two is cheapest:
128GB Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
Never go for the cheapest available. A lot of those $10 no name cards are fakes. Stick with one of the above.
You overpaid for the "switch" microsd card. Return it if possible; 64GB cards that work with the switch at better speeds than official cards are around $20 on amazon; 128GB cards are less than $40.
128GB samsung evo select - The best card for the money right now. Fast, reliable and great price, $37. 64GB version of the above - $20.
I’m so glad you asked this question before buying. First of all, no question is silly. The daily question thread is exactly for these types of quick answer questions.
Do not buy the Nintendo official SD cards. They’re way way overpriced. I’d buy either a Sandisk or Samsung 128gb Micro SD card ($40), as that size give you best bang for the buck. I’ll link a couple below. If you want something smaller or bigger, just let me know.
I’m one of the mods here, so welcome to the subreddit!
Samsung evo is a better sd card and goes for the same price pretty much 100% of the time https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/
Don't buy SD cards in physical retail locations like bestbuy. Their "deals" are just them marking the price down to the actual online price when most of the time they are marked way up. When they do go on sale for real you'll see them for like $25-$40 on Amazon.
EDIT Here's the Sandisk one https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSDXC-Standard-Packaging-SDSQUNC-128G-GN6MA/dp/B010Q57S62 for the same price on Amazon. No mention of a sale while bestbuy is claiming $118 off. Just bestbuy fuckary going on there. Samsung one I linked is still better as it's rated 30MB/s minimum while the sandisk is 10MB/s minimum.
Don't buy these, buy these ones on amazon.com.... I got 6 of them https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1544199620&sr=1-2&keywords=128gb+micro+sd+card

Biggest thing is its uhs3 and gets like 85 write speeds when I test them... and cost about 34 cad all in after taxes and shipping..
Theres the Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_Ju5qvCT7wJE1I
Though it's $25 right now I got it on sale for $20 in December.
This one is also UHS 3 and is always $45 at amazon.
https://camelcamelcamel.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/product/B06XWZWYVP
$30? This aint it.
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP
Stupid article. The only microsd cards you need for the switch:
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
Just go for the required size. No need for an article to tell you that. Avoid budget cards, and most definitely avoid the "official" cards.
This is the go to micro sd card I've been buying a bit lately. 128 gb U3 for $17. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Jdl-Db8BCPSHJ
Near exact card parameters but by Samsung $19.99 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_i6CVCbWDR6RNJ
If for whatever reason you cant purchase new from a retailer, try /r/hardwareswap.
First, to get an idea of the size, google the game you want switch size. I only get exclusives on my switch, and 14 games plus the octopath demo take up about 65GB, leaving about 54GB. Formatted size is 119GB.
As for cards, my first choice, and my second choice (out of stock direct from amazon; the samsung is slightly better anyway).
I recently went all digital with my switch so I'm waiting for the 256GB cards to drop a bit more before I jump on one of those.
Fake as heck. If you want a trustworthy high capacity and fast card, check out Samsung Evo Select on Amazon.
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) $45
To learn more about fake SD cards, http://www.happybison.com/reviews/how-to-check-and-spot-fake-micro-sd-card-8/
Even without the technical issues involved, what is the barrier to picking up a larger card? You can get a 128gig, high performance U3 card (Samsung Evo) for $20 from Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP )
That's the price of a single indie game, and would give you double the space of your two 32gb cards combined...and you would not need to swap. Even so, I'd recommend paying double in order to get the 256gb version. I recently maxed out my 128gb and had to upgrade. It was possible and ended up being very clean, but it was a little bit of a hassle to perform the data transfer.
The samsung ones are even cheaper (except the 128gb one):
This is also going for the same price at Amazon
Unfortunately, this is not a good deal.
The same card is available for $19.99 at Amazon, and a similar card is available for $17.87 at Amazon.
Great price at Amazon right now: Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_80nNBb82K6WPJ
Samsung has a decent 128GB card that typically runs about $45 on Amazon. I went with (and would recommend going with) that. Let me find it for ya...
Edit: Boom!
It's nice that someone could pick up the EVO+ from Best Buy right away, but the Samsung Evo Selects are the same price on Amazon and have better write speeds https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=twister_B071R715MZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
but if you need 128 gb , amazon "select" version of the same evo plus is 36.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=twister_B071R715MZ?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
I got one for $32, the other on black friday for $28.49. Keep an eye on amazon. Probably $36 and lower is a good deal; normal prices are $40-45.
Get whichever of these two is cheaper.
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
Well here's a high quality 128GB card for $25 on Amazon if you're interested.
I've been using these in all my cameras for a couple of years without issue.
Amazon is having a good sale on fast MicroSD cards here with the 128GB being $45 and $23 for the 64GB card.
I'm not the OP - but Amazon has a Samsung Evo Select 128 GB Class 10 UHS 3 for $39.99 + free Prime shipping. [Not an affliate link] https://smile.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
I swapped from IOS over to Android (64Gb) last year, got a great deal on a 128Gb card from Amazon for like $35, and life's pretty sweet since.
I got a 128gb for $40 from Amazon. The 256gb cards ARE coming down in price, but they arent quite there yet to where I would recommend them over this 128gb card
Get a MicroSD card. A 128GB Samsung card is on sale for $20 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
Target, Walmart, Amazon, wherever sells them. Hell, this one is Samsung, and $20.
Reporting in with my experience. Not sure why other people have issues with the samsung cards. So YMMV. I have this one:
https://smile.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP
And was able to run it on my Yi4K+ @ 4K 30fps using the bitrate mod to record @ 150mbps for around 45 minutes straight breaking it up with 4GB files. It has not failed me yet (knock on wood) and I've recorded at least 20 Volleyball games ranging between 2.7K30 @ 100MBs and 4K30 @150mbps with an average length of 45 minutes. I record using an external battery attached to keep the heat down. I've ordered those U3/A1 sandisks and they work fine (4K30 and 2.7K60) but max size 64GB. I am sometimes worried about the fakes floating around on Amazon for Sandisks. Last sandisk U3/A2 I ordered, the card and packaging had different A ratings. Card had A2 but packaging had A1. The card speed was slower than my older Sandisk cards using a benchmark app. I read somewhere that the Green Samsung sd cards are sold by Amazon only and that they are the same as the red version. So I tried it out and it worked for me. Maybe this will help with your decision.
Samsung has good sd cards on Amazon. The other replier paid about 3x what a Samsung 128gb card will cost. I have two of these. One in my switch the other in my phone. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_b8l1CbMS67YG8
Lots of info here. Tl;dr this is a fantastic camera. A lot of functionality. Blackboxmycar.com has a youtube channel and has great resources on their website for learning more about cameras. And you can buy everything i talk about minus the specific brand of SD card from them and they’re pretty much on par with everyone else with pricing, but they usually throw in free extras
No night vision, but it does very well in low light situations, and in my car on my widows, in rain it’s very very good. I did some experiments with not using the wipers and i only used the wiper when I could barely see out the window. The camera picked up details very well (if you treat your windows with rain-x or a similar product which beads the water it will make it even better). GPS can be turned on or off via the settings. If you purchase the hardwire kit and install it (use fuse taps to make your life easier and plug into your fuse box. Also, the viofo hardwire kit made for these cameras has an adjustable battery voltage shut off so you wont deplete your battery leaving you unable to start your car), you can use parking mode which will automatically start recording full video, a time lapse, whatever you set it to do. The G sensor has sensitivity settings so it wont trip in high wind/rain but will record when someone bumps it. Additionally, the G meter when tripped automatically locks the video file to prevent it from being overwritten. You can turn on wifi and connect to it on your phone and using the viofo app download the videos straight to your phone. Leave wifi off unless you’re downloading video. Use the 5G wifi vs 2.4 for faster speeds.
I highly recommend it. Worth the money for sure. Make sure if you get the duo version, to decide which camera gets which cable end. There is a straight end and an L shaped end, and depending on your car’s design the rear may need the L shape. You can test the camera with a phone charging brick. Invest in a high quality SD card no matter what you buy. U3 at least. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_iWZYEbX39XA1H 128GB gives around 6 hours when i have 30fps 4k front and full HD in the back. Lower resolution makes for smaller file sizes but the detail of 4k is worth the extra space. I’d recommend 3 minute video files in the settings 5 minutes is like a 1 gig video at least, and it’s a bit excessive.
Verify it’s a legit samsung micro, even amazon has had counterfeit sd cards sold. It’s a good idea to have at least a 32gb sd card as a backup in case your main dies.
And consider buying the polarized lens for it as well to reduce glare. It just snaps on the camera.
Finally, the 4k file type is h264 by default, and my computer had trouble playing the vids back on the default video software. VLC ran it fine, however. You may need to tweak the settings, something about decoding the files. I had the blotchy smear of pixels happening and I reversed the changes i made back to default on VLC and it was crystal clear.
Any questions let me know
Yep. This one works great. The price keeps fluctuating, I've gotten two now for around $18 each for the 128gb model.
Worked perfectly in the V2... both of them. No worky in the V3. Either of them. They are these
I've been using the micro SD card from Samsung, and I haven't had any issues with it. I'm also using the SD2Vita adapter from Fubturbo. Both are from Amazon
I just bought a top speed class (U3), 128 GB Micro SDXC card on Amazon for $45. It can hold over 2 shifts worth of HD video or 6 hours of 4k video. It's not some crappy Chinese brand either, it's a Samsung Evo which is one of the best cards available in both speed and reliability. Could you imagine how cheap they would be at a volume discount of 1,000 units (800 officers plus a ton of extras available for immediate replacements?
Storage isn't the problem at all. Hell, I have a 64 GB Micro SD card in "security" camera we use for my son's birthday monitor and that's no where near as important as a police body camera.
Edit: As far as battery life with sound, there are body cameras that will record for 12+ hours.. That camera is $600 to buy outright or Taser will give them to the departments for free for a year to get along with the software and support to use and implement them.
Thank you for including "smile" in your Amazon link. For anyone that sees this that are unaware of Amazon's Smile program, replacing "www" with "smile" on an Amazon link before ordering anything from them will cause them to donate a portion of the order to the charity of your choice at no extra cost to you. https://smile.amazon.com/
The two linked micro SD cards linked by the parent post are a little bit more expensive than I would have liked for an SD card, so I went with a different U3 speed class card which claims to do 90MB/s write speed for about half price.
I ordered https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP?th=1 128 GB Samsung EVO micro SD card for $44.99 and even though I'm not a Prime member, was able to get it with free same day shipping. It's shipping to an Amazon locker which I think is even nicer since I don't have to worry about a thief following the Fedex/UPS truck around the neighborhood stealing the recently delivered packages off of doorsteps (a frequent problem in this neighborhood)
Yep no probs. Here are a couple Amazon links:

Sure, emmc is faster than a microSD card but the purpose of having expandable storage is to store pictures, videos, and documents; not applications. Personally, I use 161 GB on my microSD card while keeping my local phone storage free.

If your computer has a tiny slot, then you can put a microSD card in there. You can get a card like this for around $20 at Best Buy and other tech stores. You can move your files into the microSD as opposed to on your main drive, saving space.
If your computer has a larger slot about the size of your thumb, you can get an SD card. Some microSD cards have SD card adapters, which you can tell by the packaging. If you use Amazon, this $20 128 gigabyte card from Samsung and this $10 64 gigabyte card from Silicon Power would both do the trick. If none such a port exists, I recommend this $18 128 gigabyte flash drive from SanDisk.
Also, if you could tell me the model number (usually located on the back of the computer labeled under "model", or in Control Panel along with RAM), then I'd be able to help you more.
You're basic "on sale at Amazon" Samsung EVO.
I think the issue with Sandisk, especially on amazon, is there are a LOT of fake ones out there.
I just recently bought some Samsung EVO selects for me and other phones in my family - so far, so good.

Class 10 U3 is the class to get, and even there, speeds can vary. You can probably get away with slower ones, but the price isn't that much better.
It is hard to look at any one brand's cards, as they all have many different models and are rated at different speeds, so I just found a few tests reviews, and browsed Amazon reviews of a few of them I found there, and went with the above.
With the Samsung EVO 128gb SD card. do you know how to reformat it? So i can write on mac (I only have read ability)

74k reviews on amazon with 4.5 rating. It's solid.
Yes, you can get the microSD cards. Amazon regularly puts the cards on sale and you’ll usually find it cheaper on amazon vs in retail store. I’ll edit this to post some I recommend I included the cards I used and work fines for my switch after 6+ months of use.
What we mean by “overpriced” are the officially licensed ones with the Switch logo on the card as they were priced 2-3 times the normal SanDisk ones
Hatred of money would be a reason, I suppose. No, the manufacturer just prints a little mushroom on the card and presumably kicks Nintendo a licensing fee. Which is why they cost more.
Are you in the U.S.? I searched "microsd 128gb" on Amazon and found three under $20: Samsung Evo ($19.49), SanDisk Ultra ($19.49), and SanDisk Ultra ($16.36).
The last one is cheaper because its transfer speeds max out at 80MB/s, rather than 100MB/s. It should work fine in your Switch, though load times could be a second or two slower. Nintendo recommends transfer speeds of 60 to 95 MB/s for optimal performance. (That doesn't mean that it will have problems with cards "up to" 100MB/s ... just that the Switch isn't rated to use those extra 5MB/s of speed.)
In 5 seconds, I found 2 highly-reliable 128GB microSD cards on Amazon for less than $20:
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSDXC-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B073JYC4XM
You can a better price for a microSD card. On Amazon you can a 128 GB for $19.99 or the 256 GB for the about same price as the Nintendo branded 128 GB.
Also a word of advice if you’re looking for a 256 GB on Amazon and see that the San Disk one is three cents cheaper than the Samsung one, don’t buy that one. The Samsung’s microSD card are U3 while San Disk has U1. U3 has a faster write speed of 30 mb/s and U1 has write speed of 10 mb/s which can affect the loading times and download speeds.
is this a good switch sd card? https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSDXC-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP the requirements and various grades of card(a2, 10, u1, u3) are confusing
A 128 is only $19 on Amazon. I just bought one last week. Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Full-Size Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_uPZYDbXGNXKDQ

I'll drop this in here as I always do:
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC Evo Select
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've shot terabytes of footage over about 12 of these cards on a GH5 and GH5S and aside from the 400mbps all-i mode the cards have been steadfast. I'm still using a few of the cards I bought when I first got the GH5 on pre-order, never had an issue with any of these. I also like that being micro SD I can carry one type of card to use on my drones, gopros and mirrorless cams without wondering where I put the micros, or why I forgot to bring them!
I use the Sony 128GB, UHS-II SD, CL10, U3, Max R260MB/s, W100MB/s (SF-M128/T) for the 400 mbps. Great card for the money, but no need to spend a ton unless you need to shoot that higher bitrate.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D8H0D8A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Good lord, I was just talking about this today and how people blow ridiculous amounts of money buying overkill cards to shoot really basic video. Photo is a bit different because of buffer rates on burst shooting, but you could still probably do with waiting a few seconds to write if you're not a pro sports photographer.
Bitrate is a calculation: 100 mbps is the max bitrate of the A7 series video which = 12.5 MB/s. That's not that demanding, so you can easily use a 30 MB/S (V30) write speed SD card for shooting video on an A7 of any sort. I personally use128gb Samsung Evo Plus cards on the A7iii, GH5, GH5S, GoPro Hero 5 and 7 and Phantom 4 pro with no issues after years of use and probably 20-30 terabytes of shooting. Buying a more expensive card than you need isn't a guarantee of quality or of value, it's just a guarantee that you spent more than you could have.
$19.49 on amazon for a 128gb. If video is your aim you won't be disappointed.

I've been using these in my GH5s since I got them both delivered from pre-order with not a single issue to date. Terabytes and terabytes of shooting on them.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also have some of the Sony 128GB, UHS-II SD, CL10, U3, Max R260MB/s, W100MB/s (SF-M128/T) cards for if I want to shoot all-I, but I don't often choose to shoot in all-I. These Sonys are some of the cheapest cards that can manage the 400 mbps write speed and they're quite reliable as well.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D8H0D8A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

samsung or sandisk that advertises 4k writing speeds
So I just procured a new 3DS XL off Craigslist and plan on hacking it soon, hoping to have a sort of all-in-one Nintendo handheld unit. And from what I'm understanding, using a flashcart for NDS games is the way to go. My question is, for someone who plans on going about using this method of hacking: https://3ds.hacks.guide/seedminer what flashcart would work better for me? The pinned guide recommends this one: https://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=157 but a lot of google results are saying this is the way to go: https://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575
Also, about what size microSD should I shoot for as far as the DS flashcart? Is it possible to have the entire library on a cart? For the 3DS, I plan on going with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP?pf_rd_p=019ad97c-f176-43be-96b9-991a6dc65763&pf_rd_r=PY2FDNMY18YBX665K4B6
And one last thing, found out when I got home that the home button isn't working, however I can just press Power and then close/open it to get to the home menu when I need to, right? It doesn't seem like it'll fuck anything up, but wanted to check if anyone else had any bad experiences with that.
Posting a second time since my first one was supposedly an affiliate link...
I use 128GB samsung evo select cards with my hero 7 black. No issues at all. Just make sure you format the cards in your gopro before you start recording with them.
These test at real world speeds at or above the second card you linked to.
The first card you linked to will work just fine as well.

I bought this for my mp3 player last week and it works fine.
I just bought this as an SD card https://www.amazon.in/Samsung-MB-ME128GA-AM-MicroSDXC-Adapter/dp/B06XWZWYVP, was it the right choice?

I'd opt for the Samsung at a similar price right now: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8
It's slightly better rated for speeds and Samsung storage devices tend to be pretty good.

5.8k spherical is already horribly low resolution, why u do this
Get Samsung, they are the most reliable brand when it comes to flash storage.
The 128 GB version is a bit cheaper per gigabyte at $19.99, if that still suits your needs.
I'd rather go the extra mile to make it life proof with the best speeds: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_vQ06Bb7XNZTYQ
While I don’t agree with OP’s statement because I use SX OS, this is the SD Card that I just got for $24.99 and it works great.
I would purchase either Samsung EVO Select or SanDisk Ultra A1 since they are known to work reliably in dash cams. I would choose Samsung over SanDisk.
>Samsung Evo Select 128gb Micro SD- $28
FYI these are $25 new on Amazon right now.

Anyone who's buying a switch this holiday season, here's a great deal for a 128GB microSD card for $20
This card is a U1 which is 10MB/s or 80Mb/s.It depends on the device saving in 4k, some do 60Mb/s some do more, I use a drone that records 4K 30fps at 100Mb/s.
U1 = 10MB/s Minimum
U3 = 30MB/s Minimum

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=psdc_3015433011_t1_B07H31298N
This is much more suited for 4K recording and is only a few bucks more at $24.99
I use this one in my, haven't had any issues.
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_OgbVBb9YM27TN
you can get them for cheap these days.
Even 400GB cards are dropping below $100.
Sounds like a fake or faulty card - leaning towards fake.

I only buy Samsung or Sandisk. I only buy from Amazon direct (not Amazon sellers) or from Bestbuy/Fry's.

Amazon has some good deals right now on 128 cards:
Samsung - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=twister_B071R715MZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I would go with Samsung as they have never given me any issues.

last 2 i have for my S7 have been the Samsung EVO select from amazon. 100 mb read 90 write. got a 64 just changed 3 months to a 256 when it was on sale

All digital, all the time.
No regrets going all digital.
I like not having to change games, and having them all updated and ready to go.
I like my games being secure should something happen to my switch.
I like not having a shelf full of game boxes gathering dust and taking up space.
As for microsd cards, geth whichever of these two is cheaper:
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
I plan on upgrading to a 256GB or 400GB card on black friday.
i have that, this one is faster and is on sale today:
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That is what I use with my Hero 6 Black. Has worked perfectly with no problems at all.
Pay no attention to the label on the card; those are just for minimum transfer speeds. Look for real world testing/results.
In short, get whichever of these two is cheaper. The samsung is very slightly faster, but on the switch you won't notice.
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
You need a U3 rated card for that error to go away. This is the one I use with no error
128GB is a great price to size value.
Get whichever of these two is cheaper:
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
You'll also want a tempered glass screen protector. Amfilm or orzly are excellent. The switch's screen is plastic. Plastic scratches easily.
Also a microsd card if you'll be buying anything digital, or any of the "physical" games that require a huge download. Get whichever of these two is cheaper.
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
It can for some games; they specify minimum requirements. LA noire does.
The two cards I mentioned are both plenty fast for the switch.
Get whichever of the two is cheaper:
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
So something like this would be a good get?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_p.8VAbKQPQS1Y
I ordered this last week and synch'ed about 60 GB of music to it. Seemed really speedy with my Macbook, but I haven't got the phone yet to test it out.
It came formatted in exFAT, I then formatted to NTFS using a card reader on my PC, still no luck. Here's the specific card.
i got my 128 samsung one for $40

This the one you have?
Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nx-PAbN3ZQRTT
Get whichever of these is cheaper:
128GB Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
Or the 256GB versions if you'll be buying a ton of games. I have 128GB (sandisk ultra), 24 games, all digital and have 27GB left. No problems running any of them.

This is the exact one I just purchased. It just works. Which is what you want out of an SD card!
You most likely got fakes.
I have no issues downloading anything and I went all digital with my switch.
Get one of these and be straight. The sandisk card is on sale for a good price.
128GB Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
Any "High Endurance" card is the safest bet. The unfortunate thing about high endurance cards is that they only are offered in 32GB & 64GB sizes. If you want a larger card I've read Samsung 128GB Evo Select cards are working well in A119(S) cameras. Although I'm not using this card in my dash cameras I'm using one for my home security camera (recording non-stop 24/7) for a few months now and so far so good. It's quite bizarre how a certain SD card will work well in one brand of camera and not work at all in another. Just do your research on which camera you choose and you will find what everyone is using with success.
Here is a good read on safe memory cards to use in dash cams.
I would buy either:
I wouldn't trust any brand name or card that currently costs less than $40 for 128GB
I saw a 128 for $20 by some off brand company... steer clear. Too good to be true, usually is.
EDIT: My bad u/Moogleman3 already covered this :)
They are $19.50 on Amazon right now.
The amazon evo select Samsung micro sd cards are cheaper and reliable I recommend the 128 gb micro sd and formatting to 3ds format with godmode9 these also come with an adapter for the og 3ds trust me I use this brand on both 3ds and switch anything above 128 gb be glitching and slow even with new 3ds Samsung 128GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC Evo Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME128GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hJ2RDbEQT25JY
> Speaking of which, what SD card do you recommend?
If serious, get whichever of these two is cheaper:
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
The samsung is slightly faster in real world tests.
This one for $55 is one of the best ones available at best buy.
Normally, I'm against the officially branded switch microsd card, but it's actually $5 less than the samsung one with identical read and write speeds.
So between those two, I'd actually go for the switch branded card.
Also, note that these equivalent cards are around $40 on amazon (links below), but I understand using up gift card funds.
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card - $37 on amazon
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card - $35 on amazon
When you buy microsd cards from amazon, make sure the card you're buying says "ships from and sold by amazon.com". Otherwise, there's a strong likelihood you'll get a fake card.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Heres my sd card and you don't need a costco membership but its the same price.
I'm not understanding why this is such an amazing deal. Isn't this just an overpriced "switch" branded UHS Speed Class U3 Speed Class 10 Micro SD card that can be bought every day without the "Switch" branding for $19-$20 Example
Good SD cards are cheap, I'd choose the one with the more expensive mic personally.
These are solid SD cards I use on all my GH bodies, S1, A7iii, etc: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWZWYVP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#
128GB is a great size to price value.
Get whichever of these two is cheaper:
128GB Samsung Evo Select MicroSD Card
128GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD Card
Make sure it's sold and shipped by amazon.
Definitely get an amfilm tempered glass screen protector.
