This is what I went for. It’s pretty steep, but that’s the lowest price ($250 USD at time of writing) it has ever been historically up to this point.
Some other options have showed up over at /r/BuildAPCSales as well. 👍🏼
As long as you have all your crucial files backed up, your good to go with full SSD. I run just one Samsung 980 Pro 2TB M.2, very fast SSD. You might want to look at Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB NVMe M.2. they have these for deep discount on cyber-Monday. Here is the link; https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=NPNSSONUP6MW&keywords=980%2Bevo%2B3tb&qid=1669683788&s=electronics&sprefix=980%2Bevo%2B3tb%2Celectronics%2C106&sr=1-1&ufe=app\_do%3Aamzn...
Checked it on camelcamelcamel, and it's an all time low price for this drive from what I can see.
I may have found my own answer but please let me know if there are other opinions
This product appears to match the compatibility list, so I ordered two of them.
970 EVO Plus MZ-V7S2T0
Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB MZ-V7S2T0B/AM
Luckily, my price range is vast at this point in life. I was looking at this: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B Would this be compatible? Sorry for the questions, I've recently learned I'm not as good with computers as I thought.
I mean, its a little higher then $155, but its possible dude.

I'm not sure about the higher temps. I was reading something about dust blocking a vent on some NUCs, but I'm not sure if that's the case yet. Haven't had a chance to tear it down and take a look. In any case the temps are staying under 100C so it's not really a problem.
As for the SSD, you want NVMe M.2 form factor due to the higher read/write speeds than SATA.
I am planning on getting the SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B
Or the 1 TB version.
The question is do I need a heatsink for either the 1TB/2TB Versions?
It's later in the morning and I still haven't had coffee yet, so maybe my brain is running under less than optimal conditions:
Why don't / can't you just get something LIKE THIS and have your memory increase?
I ordered my Legion 7 with 2 NVMe M.2 SSD (2280) drives of 1TB each and they work great. I removed the RAID 0 array so that they could be used independently.
Yes, this is the same drive. In my experience shopping Amazon Warehouse the items from them are always in a like new condition even when buying "very good" condition. YMMV however. The Best Buy link is now showing $124.99 however, and people who have chatted in to Best Buy, including myself, have been able to get them to adjust the sale to that price. Hopefully when they restock it will remain at $124.99.
Is this the same NVMe? I dont know how reliable amazon warehouse is compared to Geek Squad
I reckon getting a Samsung 970 Plus is a way better value SSD with better write and read speeds for only $20 extra. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=sr\_1\_3?keywords=samsung%2B970%2Bevo%2Bplus%2B2tb&qid=1652258036&sprefix=samsung%2B970%2Bevo%2Bplus%2Caps%2C266&sr=8-3&th=1
SSDs are worth it though. I have one I use purely for moving data around via sneakernet. much more reliable than a hard drive. cost a pretty penny though. teamgroup 4tb sata ssd.
1tb ssds can be had for around 90 usd, 2tb are around 200 usd. here is a 2tb samsung nvme.
hard drives just aren't good for random i/o. they tend to choke. that's why it's always recommended to use SSDs for the OS these days. I use them for regular data now. I've got big hdds for static media, write once; read many, type content. even run my VMs only on ssds.
it's well worth it.
Try this link if you see a random seller and not Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MFZXR1B/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
You should also be able to see it when you click on the "New & Used" price listings, it should be $159.06 from Amazon. Not sure why it's going to the correct one for some and not others, but hopefully this helps.
Sorry, I'm not sure what the issue is but it shows up as Amazon to some people and a weird serial number seller to others. The correct link is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MFZXR1B/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1, someone else posted it in the comments

Great price: 20$ extra (110$ a gb) and it’s the best she gets, 1 gb cache too.
I ended up getting this so I could play Ark and Conan at the same time. But I appreciate the tip!
Out of curiosity, did you download a fresh new copy of windows or did you clone your old ssd stuff to your new ssd??
Because I had the same problem and want to replace the SSD as well to fix 100% disk usage.
The storage capacity is:
1x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3) 1x M.2 SSD Combo slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA)
So I want to get this SSD: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PK6TQ53EX2B4QSDTDK4F
I think it would work but what i was thinking is how to reinstall windows since mine came with windows 10 and i did a free upgrade into windows 11.
Any tips on this??
If ur in the States be in the look out for ssd deals as 970 Evo plus 2tb is 300 bucks off rn. Idk what the ssd market in the US looks like though since I'm Canadian i can't realistically tell you how good this is
me gusta traer algo por amazon (rubro computación) aunque en los ultimos años me parece que hay muchos menos descuentos... pero este SSD me está llamando mucho la atención:

Can I use a Samsung 970 evo plus nvme, specifically this one?
I want to add another ssd to mine as well, what type of ssd should I buy? Does any nvme work? Can I use this one?
Samsung Evo Plus 300 bucks for 2TB, and it's an excellent drive :Amazon link here.
Ram has nothing to do with Gen 4 and 3. Mobo and CPU yes. Right now, there aren't a lot of differences between the two, maybe in the future once microsoft and developers use that. Buying a PCIe Gen 4.0 NVME SSD is only going to affect 1-3 seconds boot time and around 5-10 seconds while loading a heavy game.
First of all, use a password manager like Bitwarden or 1Password. Even their servers get hacked, no one can read your data because everything is encrypted. Never use browser's password manager.
For m2, prices are a bit normal here. 2 TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus cost 220 Euro. For cheaper SSD you can check Samsung 870 QVO. In Brazil same m2 drive costs 426 Euro
Cloud is not just using someone else's computer. If you have money, you can build your own VM in cloud, or just use typical cloud backups like Backblaze. It has versioning and unlimited space. Put a private key and then no one can access your backups. If you want something better, you can get Wasabi.
For better security you can use M365 services. You can define your server location, like EU, US, China, etc, define your own protection policies, control your own devices, add DLP policies, control your email and files. Also you will have Onedrive for Business which you can use for data storage. Unlike personal version, no one can see it except you.
Bitlocker doesn't have any notable effect on performance, so I suggest you turn it for all drives.
Backups are important. You can say it will never happen to me, or once or twice in a lifetime, but after losing your important data, it will cost you a lot more (considering you have an option from a recovery center) or you can lose them forever (which happened to me)
It's this one
At the bottom it says PCIE Express x4
Heh man, just an fyi, the 2TB 970 plus evo is on Amazon right now at $325...
SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology (MZ-V7S2T0B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_4SXXFbQK4J9FG
I agree. The Fuma 2 would be a better choice if you are trying to use the TG panel. Otherwise, the U12A would probably cool better than the U12S.
I am confused about all the fans as well.
Also, why get 2 1TB Samsung pro M.2's? For consumer use, the EVO Plus 970 2GB is close to the same performance for 1/2 the cost.
>I’d consider a $200 2TB expansion card to be affordable for me
You'll unfortunately be waiting quite a few years for this. Fast Gen 3 2TB SSDs aren't even close to this price point yet, never-mind the brand new Gen 4 which next-gen consoles use.
a 2tb NVME SSD costs as much as the console itself
you could of course sacrifice some load time and go with SATA, but that would still be ~$250 for 2tb, like the only commenter pointed out.
you guys are all confusing these prices with HDD prices, the storage type that previous gens used. 2tb of HDD is only like $40 which is probably what you're all thinking of.
but all this talk of "no loadscreen" stuff does not happen on HDD, it has to be on an SSD, and at the speeds they're talking it has to be NVME SSD which is even more expensive.
For anyone looking, I also found the deal below. $50 more for faster speeds.
Just found a 970 evo plus 2tb on Amazon for $250
I just bought one of each for my laptop and was surprised to discover there isn't much price difference. In some cases the NVMe can be cheaper:
You think a new faster, faster drive is going to be cheaper than current tech? A 2TB evo 970 is $310. Https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B
I can easily see a ps5 compatible drive being $400 for 2TB.
Is the Evo Plus better/worse? It's in stock for the same price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_dlC_bMNUFbMJCZQPD?psc=1
Fyi, the 2tb version of that nvme is in a good sale
If you're looking for new thinkpads check out https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/epp_cocacola/
If you get prompted for a code (I didn't) try COKE*EPP
If that doesn't work do a little google searching.
I got a maxed(minus SSD) t14s with 5 years of every warranty + ultra dock + charger + USB ethernet adapter for under $2k. If only it'd f'ing ship...
Edit:. The SSD I bought: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=2tb+nvme&qid=1605575048&sprefix=2tb+&sr=8-3
Fair enough!
I have pretty much decided what I am going to get. I found the Thinkpad E15 (i5 Processor) model with the backlit keyboard can be purchased from the Lenovo website directly for $729 (after coupon code is applied). By default, this build has 8 GB Ram (upgradeable) and 256GB PCIe SSD.
I will then open the laptop and put in a Samsung EVO 970 2 TB SSD, and a Crucial DDR4 2666 SODIMM Ram. I will use Acronis True Image to Clone the original Windows installation from the laptop when I receive it, cloning the OS to the new EVO 970 SSD, before opening the computer and putting the new SSD inside.
I am hoping I have accounted for every aspect of this project, but please tell me if you see any glaring problems with my strategy. Based off of the Spec Sheet for the Thinkpad E15, the Samsung EVO 970 AND the Crucial RAM I will order ought to be compatible. Having said that, would you mind just glancing over the items I am ordering and confirm these are compatible? I can recall one example in the past when I ordered an incorrect chip for a computer and it was quite a headache to solve that problem afterwards.

could you tell me what SSD can fit into my MoBo? i saw this https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=pd_day0fbt_sccl_2/138-0494766-3921632?pd_rd_w=u2nB4&content-id=amzn1.sym.225af909-a644-4665-9f15-c780ebd0c7cb&pf_rd_p=225af909-a644-4665-9f15-c780ebd0c7cb&pf_rd_r... 500$ SSD on an almost nice -68% off for 160$ and im wondering if this kind of SSD can fit compared to this kind https://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Blue-Hard-Drive/dp/B08VH8R94B/ref=sr_1_21?crid=183EBWHXUFXG3&keywords=2TB+SATA+6+SSD+desktop+computer&qid=1670277332&sprefix=2tb+sata+6+ssd+desktop+computer%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-21
Also since i dont know anything about SSD's could you tell me what to look for in a SSD all i know is SATA III and preferably 2TB, but i dont know anything else to see oh this 500$ one is on a huge sell for 160$ but this other one is 50$ what benefit is the 500$ one compared to the 50$ one if the 500$ wasnt on sale
Upgraded my graphics card for CP2077. Will be upgrading storage for this...

Available on Amazon as well:
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB is still $160 on Amazon, plus 10% back if you have the credit card. Same price at several other retailers, too.
Thanks, I've heard Crucial drives are pretty good. Do you think it'd make sense to just get an NVMe though, if something like this is under $200? The difference in price is pretty small, unless the MX500 goes on a great Black Friday sale.
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/
Your laptop supports one m.2 PCIe NVMe SSD gen 3 and a 2.5" SSD or HDD. It also supports a m.2 PCIe NVMe SSD gen 4, but limited to the max read / write speed of a gen 3.
I suppose it boils down to the capacity and budget and what is more important; lower price, but lower performance or higher price and higher performance.
You can't go wrong with a Samsung 970 EVO Plus since Samsung SSDs EVO series has among the best read write speeds and prices are not bad in my opinion.
I use Sabrent Rocket SSDs; before gen 4 existed, these high performance NVMe SSDs were less expensive than the Samsung 970 EVO Plus by around $20 for the 1TB version and $40 for the 2TB version. Nowadays, the price difference is typically only $5 to $10 since NVMe SSD gen 3 is no longer the latest and greatest so Samsung priced the 970 EVO more aggressively.
For a balance between price and performance, the WD Blue SN570 is a good deal. Without getting into the technically it basically lacks certain things that would allow it compete against the more expensive Samsung and Sabrent SSDs.
If budget is your greatest concern, then the TeamGroup M33 SSD is a good deal. It is likely similar in performance to whatever m.2 SSD is in your Dell laptop... only it has higher capacity. If you consider yourself an "average" user, then you should generally not be able to tell the difference between a laptop that uses the TeamGroup SSD and the more expensive Samsung SSD.

60 percent off RN. Pretty good deal.
Your laptop has two m.2 nvme capable slots:
https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GP66-Leopard-10UX/Specification
So any m.2 nvme SSD will work fine, since you want 2T try to get this 970 Evo that is on sale:

Consider repasting your laptop as well since it is 1 year old.
Buy some mastergel maker when you get the SSD, watch a tutorial on how to repaste a gs66, and it will be easy to do.
For the SSD, just install it in place, turn the laptop on, open disk management and the new unallocated SSD will be visible, right click and select format and assign drive letter.
HI, thank you for posting this!
I got the VECTOR GP66 and I am about to buy this sdd

And also I am looking for some ram, I was thinking in taking in to memory express but I am not sure if it would be cheaper to buy it from Amazon? I am also planning to apply a better thermal paste.
I don't know much about computers, but that's what I read her on reddit.
Thanks!

I'd prefer paying ~$5 more for the Samsung 970 Evo Plus at Amazon.
You can get a 2TB Samsung 970 Evo for way cheaper
Alright, that makes sense. Sorry for bugging you, I am not familiar with storage components compared to the other PC components. Which nvme would be better, this crucial one or samsung?

NP.
I wouldn't overthink it too much, but on Amazon you can actually get a 1tb 970 Evo (NVMe) for less than the 1tb 870 (SATA). I would just get the 970 anyway. I've had one for a couple years and while it didn't change my life or anything, it has made working with very large files/folders a lot easier.

Also posted to /r/ibuypower but I think this is probably the better place:
I bought my first gaming PC last August. It came with a B560M AC motherboard and a 500GB SSD, and I am looking into adding an additional SSD for storage. I believe this is the page with the motherboard specs.
My question is whether I'll be able to add [this SSD](https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1CZTF4NRWXM7R&keywords=SAMSUNG%2B970%2BEVO%2BPlus%2BSSD%2B2TB%2B-%2BM.2%2BNVMe%2BInterface%2BInternal%2BSolid%2BState%2BDrive%2Bwith%2BV-NAND%2BTechnology%2B(..., which I just ordered from Amazon (I know, I should have waited...). The motherboard specs in the first link above say:
> 6 SATA3, 1 x Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4)
> 1 x Ultra M.2 (PCIe Gen3 x4 & SATA3)
Looking at the motherboard itself, I think I see the NVME slot where the second SSD should go, right next to the graphics card. I'm not sure about the physical length of the SSD though. Looks like it's 80mm, and I think that will work, but I was hoping someone could help me confirm that so I won't have to eat the cost of the SSD I just ordered. Is there a way to tell from the motherboard specs and the SSD specs whether this will work?

Okay, I just looked at the price and realize the SATA SSD idea I had is not the best.
You can spend a bit less than that and get a new M.2 NVME SSD, and replace both your SSD and HDD with a single SUPER FAST SSD.
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/

Great, that means you should have a second ssd slot so you can get a single sided NVME (most 2tb ones) and not have to deal with reinstalling windows. A decent one is https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B?th=1 it should fit without issues.

Also $199 on newegg and a coupon code "BCMAY22453" for an extra $10 bucks off, might be shipping charges though. https://www.newegg.com/samsung-970-evo-plus-2tb/p/N82E16820147744?Description=samsung%20970%20evo%20plus%202tb&cm\_re=samsung\_970%20evo%20plus%202tb-\_-20-147-744-\_-Product&quicklink=true
When you see the size of the 2TB M.2 Nvme SSD drive (more like a tiny chip!), you're gonna think someone is ripping you off! You can do this yourself: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ And a little googling...
The laptop doesn't care in the slightest what the SSD capacity is. If it fits, it will work. The 2TB SSD I recommend is the Samsung 970 EVO Plus. I have two of these in my ThinkPad P1 Gen 3 and I am confident it will work in your X1C Gen 9 too.
You could spend more for the 970 EVO Pro or the 980 EVO Pro, but the reviews I've seen say that the 970 EVO Plus is as good or even better than these for most use. I don't run benchmarks, but I am very happy with mine.
If you want to put your old SSD to good use, this external Sabrent enclosure is really nice. It's tool-free, easy to use, and very fast.
Will you be cloning your existing OS onto the new SSD or installing from scratch?
If you want to clone your old system, create a bootable USB thumb drive with your choice of cloning software, such as Macrium Reflect. Do this before swapping SSDs and make sure the thumb drive boots OK. Then put your old SSD in the Sabrent enclosure, the new one in the ThinkPad, and boot from the thumb drive and take it from there.
For a clean install of Windows, download the Lenovo recovery image for your machine, and again make sure you can boot the thumb drive before opening up your machine.
Make sure you disable the internal battery before opening up the machine. Boot into the BIOS (hit Enter when you get the red Lenovo message on boot, hit F1 and go from there). I think there is a Power configuration section where you will find the option to disable the internal battery. Remove the AC adapter after that and have at it.
The only tool you need is a good quality #1 Phillips screwdriver.

Thanks for the input - I had both ordered and both. I ordered the custom, but a week later the prebuilt with the same specs restocked (and it was shipping two weeks earlier). I canceled the custom and went with the prebuilt. Everything seems to be working well, killer laptop, a noticeable upgrade from my Razer Blade Pro. I am really impressed with Lenovo so far.

It's more of a question of trusting the store. The drives look like something from AliExpress. So they can easily have very low endurance AND very low practical speeds (in real usage, not test copying).
I'd say there are brands and models in the market that have really good reputation, maybe it's better to seek good deals on them. Maybe it'll be cheaper to buy two 1TB drives if you have the spare slots (which support proper NVMe) or extension cards. Depends on what you're building.
You could keep the 120GB drive for the operating system and replace the second mechanical hardrive that MSI installed its actually a bottleneck to your gaming with a restricted speed.
If you decide to replace the mechanical drive, make sure you clone the drive before you swap it out as it holds a hidden partition (22GB) used for the recovery and F3 at boot factory reset option.
If you are going to change out the existing 120GB Nvme ssd then you might look at this series that seems to be compatible with MSI notebooks.
Samsung 970 EVO Plus NvME M.2 gen 3 ssd.
https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/970evoplus/
You could pay in your country up to 200GBP for a 2TB samsung EVO plus.

What are they priced at? You can get a 2tb 970 evo on amazon for 310 right now. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B

appreciate the input!!
An SSD that is NVMe and M.2 format, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=nvme+ssd+2TB&qid=1617217992&sr=8-3
Would this newer model be better? yes
So basically I get my razer, swap this out and then boot up? It won’t affect my windows install or drivers etc? ok so uh sorry i mess up i didn't see that it was a nvme slot so you'll actually want this 2tb drive and because its smaller it cost more. now the drivers im not so sure about. maybe go to r/techsupport and ask them.
sorry but thats all i can help you with. have a great day
Alright so what the best TOP fastest ssds out there for sure are M.2 MVMe drives like this one:
SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology (MZ-V7S2T0B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZXR1B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_4MU.FbSBA8F2J
Now that drive accordingly reaches 3500MB/S and dang that is pretty good, but I saw your mobo, and sadly your mobo does not have a M.2 slot for this ssd so rip.
My second option would be then an internal ssd like this one:
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E2T0B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0786QNSBD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_LPU.FbWF1Y6M6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I mean it is not AS fast as the NVMe drive, but it’s an improvment from an hdd that’s for sure. This drive reaches about 550MB/S. Maybe there are better internal SSDs eith better read/write speeds :)

Hey NewMaxx,
I purchased a couple of drives recently for my new build (X570 TOMAHAWK Motherboard) when they were on sale at Amazon. Trying to make sure I pick the right one for my use case, which will be to store games and instrument samples for music projects.
I haven't unboxed either of these yet- which would you recommend?
From the brief research I've done, my assumption is that the EVO Plus would be better for long term use since it's TLC, vs the QLC Sabrent? Drive will likely get fairly full- I have a little under 1TB of music samples/projects alone.
Or would you recommend waiting for a newer 2TB drive- perhaps there something coming in the near future with substantially better specs than these options for the price? Thanks for your time and help!
I just bought a 2TB Samsung m.2, tossed it in an external enclosure and plugged into the USB-A port in back.

But I already have the SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB. Why should I buy this? Is this good enough to return the one I have?
I got one, thanks to OP!!! Now to find 2x16GB of 3200 Mhz RAM and an SSD.
I was thinking of getting this $99 kit from Neweeg with good reviews for the RAM: https://www.newegg.com/team-32gb-260-pin-ddr4-so-dimm/p/N82E16820331504?Description=team%20elite%203200%20sodimm&cm_re=team_elite%203200%20sodimm-_-20-331-504-_-Product
and a Samsung EVO Plus 2 TB for $250 from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MFZXR1B/

If you are handy, cheap, and want a "good enough" Mac until the ARM ones come out, I suggest you get a used or refurb MacBook Pro Retina 13" early 2015 (MacBookPro12,1) or MacBook Pro Retina 15" mid 2015 (MacBookPro11,4-11,5), then follow the instructions on this page to upgrade to a four-lane 1 or 2TB NVMe SSD drive. You could get a very nice Mac with a huge SSD for under $1k.
I approve, here's my most recent build. I did change out the storage for a 2 TB M.2 NVMe drive back in May though. I prefer everything to be fast, not just the Windows install.
Thank you for the help so far.

Is there any significant/tangible difference between different manufacturers making the same class of SSD (in this specific case, a 2 TB NVME pcie gen 3 ssd)?
I'm trying to choose between the Samsung 970 Evo Plus vs the Sabrent Rocket and the price difference is significant enough to make me wonder whether there's a significant difference or not. If I can save $80 with no downside then I see no reason not to, but if the sabrent one is shittier in some way than the samsung one I'd like to avoid that.
Any suggestions?
I know that these Samsung drives are often considered overpriced and maybe it still is compared to other drives, but looking at just this drive itself this is the cheapest I've seen it.

Hey u/iBUYPOWER-Brad Thank you for the response, and the clarification! It is much appreciated. After writing I realized the OS install was a partition on the SSD, with a secondary Western Digital 1TB mechanical drive (I honestly have no idea where that thing is even nestled in the case, props to you guys for that one.)
For the NVME I was looking at https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B/
And SATA https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B078C515QL/
which are both fairly solid (if a bit on the pricey side, but I've had enough HDD failures in the past to be comfortable with shelling out a bit more cash for more longevity and security)
But, it sounds like either choice will be A-OK, keeping the stock SSD as secondary storage/scratch disk for certain programs.
edit: clarified a lil bit.

Do you guys think this $370 price tag on this 2TB samsung nvme ssd will hold or should I get it now before it goes back up? I tried to check the price history on camelcamelcamel but it wasn't super indicative of whether I should just get it now or possible wait until black friday/zen 3 release (whichever comes first).
What do you guys think?
Could someone explain to me the whole lane sharing thing on PCIe when it comes to NVMe SSDs? I have a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master-CF and I am planning on getting this NVMe SSD: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S250B/dp/B07MFZXR1B.
In my mobo's manual, it says the M2P connector (bottom most connector) shares bandwidth with the PCIeX4 slot. Here are my questions:
If i use this connector, can i configure the SSD to take up all 4x, thereby making the PCIeX4 slot unusable?Does doing that take away from the GPU bandwidth at all, or does the 16X slot have bandwidth all to itself (assuming no dual-GPUs) separate from all that?

Upgrade your SSD
Quick Summary:
Backup your old ssd using Time Machine (external drive)
Swap the SSD.
Boot it up holding Option key.
Reformat the new SSD as APFS.
Next select time machine restore (this takes ages depending on the size of your old files).
After it's done, reboot as normal. That's it.
Side notes*
I recommend to update your system to Mojave, or a bootable Mojave OS (that's what I am on).
You might need to update firmware on your Samsung 970 Evo Plus, although my one already been updated.
Recommend you to watch multiple YouTube bids for reference before starting, as most people, including myself, did it slightly different way.
After when everything is done and normal. You might notice time machine might be slow. But that's because you need to exclude time machine on your antivirus software, and that should speed things up.
Applying Thermal Grizzly (only if you want to renew the thermal paste, I don't really recommend unless your machine is over heating) https://youtu.be/bUnm-korNUE
I put a Samsung 970 Pro 1TB in an XPS 9700 and it worked perfectly.
