Agree, have a 128GB and 256GB and no issues in the couple years I've had them. Cheaper and more portable than other name brands
exactly, this device would essentially work like a USB drive and a mouse plugged into a single hub. so if your company blocks USB drives (see top level comment) then it will continue to block the USB drive part of this device since the computer can't hide that it's a USB drive and get it to work as one at the same time.
if your company doesn't block USB drives, then just get something discreet like this, and keep it hidden or say it's a mouse receiver.
Someone posted SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive from Best Buy here the other day.
They were $25 plus $5 shipping at BB, today on Amazon they're $21.99 w/ free shipping. There's other sizes as well, seems like a great deal.
You sure be fine although if you do run low, I would recommend a usb stick.
I've got one of these:
I have the 512GB one because I download a lot of games even the odd few AAA (triple a) titles, but I've got the i7 512gb, so I like to at least have a terabyte.
I would recommend getting one of these because if you just need that storage and you gonna leave it in, it is very small and compact, it barely sticks out.
There's a similar product on Amazon where people have posted CrystalDiskMark benchmarks on the flash drive.
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-Ultra-Flash-Drive/dp/B07855LJ99/
The model they have listed is the SDCZ430-128G-G46 while the Best Buy one is listed as SDCZ430-128G-A46
I'd say grab a used SSD or a used m.2 SSD and an enclosure of your choice or even just a cheap new one, chances are it'll have better read/write performance and last longer. Obviously size would be a bit annoying compared to a tiny USB drive and it'll end up costing a bit more.
I've heard that these flash drives run rather hot so I'd be wary of leaving them plugged in for a long session, but considering how cheap they are it wouldn't hurt to buy one and see how it works out.
You mention you are using an SD card with an SD card reader, not sure if you mean the SNES Mini has been modded internally with an SD card mod but if it has and you are now trying to use an external USB Drive as well then it won't work as the two will conflict with each other, you can only use one or the other...
If you meant you are using an external SD card and external reader then those are most likely the source of your problems and it could be down to simply being the SD card is not fast enough or the SD card reader is too slow. It's very unlikely anything to do with the PSU as the original adapter at 1Amp is more than enough power to run the SNES Mini along with an OTG device and USB Drive...
I've been using 256GB USB Drive for years now on the SNES Mini and have no issues with them at all, your best bet is to ditch the SD card method and get yourself a USB Thumb/ Flash Drive (recommend 64GB at least should be more than enough for most people)
SanDisk UltraFit Drives are the best one to go for...
(these type)...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ultra-Flash-Drive-Read/dp/B07855LJ99/
I started with a SanDisk 128GB flash drive because I wanted something that couldn't get whacked. Long story short - it gets hot and causes issues.
I put an existing SATA II 64GB SSD (its old lol) in an external enclosure, and had no problems.
Last week, I put an existing 500GB mSATA drive in an external enclosure, I've had no problems yet.
The cause will most likely be one of the following...
If you are using an actual real Hard Drive that of course needs time to spin up to speed before any data can be read from it or even be able to read it's structures/ layout from it.... then...
The SNES Mini will have a specific time it waits to see if something is connected to the USB port and if nothing is found in that time it will either hang or simply think nothing is connected and boot up as normal as a stock SNES...
You might get it to work if you make sure the drive is powered on and spinning up to full speed before you turn the SNES Mini on...
Other possibility might be the partition size especially if it's 4TB. It simply might not be something the SNES Mini can handle, Only thing you can do there would be to split it into smaller partition sizes and see if that works...
Personally I'd say it's best to go with a USB Drive than a real Hard Drive, you can get one cheap enough and they are lot more convenient than have a real Hard Drive hooked up to your Mini...
I only use the SanDisk Ultra Fit USB Drives, they are some of the fastest and most reliable around and world perfectly with the SNES Mini...
Like this and of course you can get them in many different sized storage capacities...

PS2 model = SCPH-77001
this is the Sandisk (ultra) flash drive I have
I had OPL 1342-DB-TA-de2d552 which gave me white or black screen after running through the debug colors
I tried using the latest daily build (OPNPS2LD-v1.1.0-Beta-DB_all-2074-a2c52bb-2021-08-13) with the same result. The only difference was this time it said my ISO for TimeSplitters was "fragmented", but didn't say this for other games I'm trying on the same flash drive.
Could it matter which Memory Card slot I'm running FreeMCBoot or OPL from? (currently slot 2 so I have my normal mem card in slot one for games that require it)
Yeah, replacing the SSD will need to reinstall macOS and requires some knowledge of both software and hardware.
The other option is just adding an SD card to your Mac like using an external drive or a USB key, only difference is that the card or card adapter is designed to stationed in your MacBook that you don't need to worry about removing it when carrying the MacBook around. And You don't need to reinstall the macOS. I had one and it served me well until I upgraded the SSD with a 1TB one.
Sandisk also have such kind of USB drive that could also stay quietly on your MacBook: https://www.amazon.fr/SanDisk-Ultra-128Go-allant-jusquà/dp/B07855LJ99
But it's not a bad idea to upgrade the laptop if you really want to have it. Even the very base model M1 MacBook Air will serve you well (and even better), although I would suggest to upgrade the RAM to 16GB at least.
Not sure why these other comments are saying it won't work but I connect this to an OTG and it works just fine on my FireStick 4ks. Connect the OTG with out the USB and turn it on and let it load up, then connect the USB and it will ask you if you want to format it and then it works. Then install a file manager like X-Plore and add a folder you want your files to record to. Then in TiviMate settings, change the record path to that.
Not quite sure what you mean there to be honest but here's what you should be doing when it come to using the Virtual Ram Hmod...
Firstly the hmod itself HAS to be added and run from the SNES Mini itself and it will be set up that way when you use HakChi to add the hmod (ie: when the hmod is installed it is stored on the Mini's internal memory and run from there at boot up)...
The hmod when run will create a "virtual swap file" on your USB drive and it is that file it uses as the virtual extra memory. That swap file of course can't be stored on the SNES Mini's internal memory as the SNES Mini simply doesn't have enough storage space for such a file to begin with...
Choice of USB storage devices can affect its performance, personally I only use the following USB drives/ storage devices and have no issue with them whatsoever (tested quite a few other brands over the years and these ones I found perform best when it comes to the SNES Mini)...
SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive
Those are the drives I'd recommend for use with your SNES Mini... :-)
Could be a number of issues from a poor connection on the OTG/ USB device, low power on your power supply to simply being a slow USB storage device or one that's needing reformatted or cleaned up...
I only OTG/USB storage devices myself on the SNES Mini and have no issues like you describe above despite the USB storage devices being filled with several thousand games...
I use USB SanDisk Ultra Fit drives formatted as FAT32 and those very cheap right angled generic OTG devices and have no issues with them at all...
Not sure what type/ brand of USB storage device you are using but the first thing I'd try is back up the data on it, reformatting it and placing the data back and see if that helps...
If it doesn't then try another type/ brand of USB storage device & personally I'd recommend these San Disk ones for the best hassle free results...
San Disk Ultra Fit USB FLash Drives...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07855LJ99/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I like these a lot: https://www.amazon.de/SanDisk-Ultra-Flashlaufwerk-130MB-Lesen/dp/B07855LJ99/ref=asc_df_B07855LJ99/?tag=googshopde-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310773650587&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1537115321651454182&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=... ... since my friend already killed one of my drives by unintentionally bending them out of the port to the point of no return, i‘ll stick with these ones
Hacked Wii can be set up to look pretty similar to the original. Depending on what menu system you use you can probably make it so there would just be maybe a few colour differences and extra options if he does go into a menu. Launching the games also would look the same just without putting the disk in.
I'd recommend the USB option. If you're worried about having a big memory stick hanging out the back of the machine you can get some much smaller ones if you look around that would stick out less than the cables. The Wii only supports USB 2.0 so if you can save a few bucks while there's no problem getting a USB 3.0 bit it won't perform any faster than a 2.0
As for locking him out of menus. I've never tried myself but the suggestion someone else made about the parental lock is probably your best option.
Example memory stick on Amazon.
Is it by any chance an Ultra Fit drive (like this)? If so that's why. Those drives don't seem to hold up to any kind of real use. They fail into a read-only mode where you can't change any of the content. I've tried several with the same end-result, so I switched to using an external SSD.
All you need to do is buy a tiny usb flash drive, load up your music and that's it! Everything works. I the SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-128G-G46 for $18.99 from BestBuy today. Just ask them to price match with Amazon.
So what doesn't this do? If you love Android Auto (which I hate) then you may not like this route, but honestly, I can't see how this isn't superior to both bluetooth and AA. You can still use AA for everything else.
It works fantastic and I'm really happy with it.
> I don't understand why they are not the same form factor that wireless mice mostly use now (which is basically just a little nub).
Those are definitely a thing, my FreeNAS installation is on one. Something like this (just the first link I saw on Amazon, though I think the one I have is an older/lower capacity version of the same thing).
I've seen people using USB-C hubs with it, but I'm not sure how much power a 2.5" drive will draw or what output the device can provide.
I'd recommend using something like this via a USB-C hub.
In general, you are better off with a hard drive. It will be more reliable and you will generally get more bang for your buck. It looks like others here have given you good recommendations.
If a USB stick is an absolute must for you, I would recommend something something like this. I had problems with my kids moving around the Wii when trying to plug in other things, inevitably bonking the stick, bending it and making it inoperable. The compact size of this stick resolved that problem for me.
The one I use: SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-128G-G46 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07855LJ99/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lzWfFb8ZAH9MK
I did learn the hard way trying to be cheap and use a standard thumb drive i found in a drawer lol.
Been using this USB thumb drive since March. Only seen a gray or 1/2 gray video a couple times. I’d get corrupt videos (500kb with no recordings) maybe 6 files out of hundreds that were saved. I’ve never long pressed to disable prior to removing the drive. Once I’ve reviewed the relevant footage I just delete the irrelevant videos and save the others to my computer and return the drive to car and go on recording with an empty “Saved files” folder. I’ve never deleted any files from the recently saved folder.
Edit: TM3 AWD w/EAP since September & currently on 2019.24.4.
Edit 2: so is EAP Enhanced Auto Pilot or Early Access Program? Just reading through and it dawned on me. I’m not part of Early Access Program but I do have Enhanced Auto Pilot.
The only problem with being on a network drive is he would have to be on network to get to it and I'm sure would be much more prone to corruption.
What about keeping a backup on the network, but then giving them something like this that would just stay in their laptop\desktop all them time. It is small and pretty transparent and inexpensive. That way they'd have a copy on their machine and you have a backup just in case.

The backup schedule would be tricky and probably a manual process from the sounds of it since you'd want to have it on the local drive and then a backup copy to somewhere on the network. How much data are we talking? We actually don't require our owners to archive, but their mailboxes aren't too crazy, two under 30 GB and the 3rd is around 67 GB.
...interesting. It could be a region thing as to why it worked for you and not me.
Is yours exactly this one - SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-128G-G46 ? Specifically the model number?
Hmm
Is this the one you have? No issues at all with it?
Looking at the specs yours has a read speed of 10 MBS
That is criminally slow. Return it and get one that is faster.
The spec is usually on the amazon page.

I for a 128gb flash drive from amazon for $28.00 SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-128G-G46 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07855LJ99/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wJaSBbBHZP70X
I printed the 12-pi version and running the same hardware. k3s has been great, but I got woefully small SD cards when I put everything together and need to get some better storage. SanDisk makes some compact USB drives that I'm waiting on to come in. Currently using RPi-OS, but I'll probably go back to Ubuntu once I have more storage.
The PoE fan not working in ESXi was a huge bummer for me. It's a shame it still hasn't been fixed.
Here's what I bought from Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-Ultra-Flash-Drive/dp/B07855LJ99
I want one this size - that I can leave plugged in to my laptop while it's in the bag, maybe even sitting on it. Haven't seen any yet that I would trust.
I bought a new one a week ago. I wanted something cheap but not slow as fuck.
This one seemed the best for me https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07855LJ99/
Saw your update, glad it works now.
It's supposed to support drives between 1 GB and 256 GB in size.
Anyway I've been using this Sandisk Ultra Fit 128GB which works well - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07855LJ99/
Most people don't call them an "OTG Cable", generally they are called and sold as "OTG Devices", "OTG Connecters" or "OTG Adapters"...
"OTG Devices/ Connectors/ Adapters" are small hardware devices which allow you to connect other devices (mainly USB Storage Devices) to things such as mobile phones or in this case Mini consoles...
These OTG Devices are powered by a USB Cable coming from either a USB mains power supply adapter or powered direct from a USB port on your TV...
The OTG Device is then connected to your Mini either directly or via a short USB Cable...
So what you need is an "OTG Device" such as this example...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255029918782?hash=item3b60f7bc3e:g:LeUAAOSwOolg1oK~
Then you need a USB Storage Device such as this...
You plug the USB Storage Device into the OTG Device with your games etc... stored on it and you then plug the OTG Device into the back of the Mini so the Mini can read the data on it (in this case games etc...)
The only cable you really need is a USB cable that leads from the power supply into the OTG Device to power it and of course power your Mini when you plug the OTG device into your Mini...
If you want to add a short extension cable between the back of your Mini and your OTG Device (which is advisable) then you would do so using a fully wired USB cable...
There are two type of USB Cable, one type only has two wires which simply power up or recharge a device and this is fine for going from the USB power supply into the OTG Device...
The other type is a fully wired USB cable which you must use if you are adding an extension cable between the OTG Device and your Mini, if you tried to use a two wire USB cable between the OTG Device and the Mini then although it will power up you Mini it wont be able to read/ use the USB storage device as there are no data lines/ wires in the cable for your Mini to communicate with the OTG/ Storage device...
So basically what you need if you want to go the USB storage route with your Mini are the things mentioned above... :-)
The NES/ SNES mini ports are USB 2.0 but you can use USB storage devices that are 3.0, you just wont ever get USB 3.0 transfer speeds on your mini's but that doesn't actually matter when it comes using them on the actual mini's
When it comes an actual storage device then I'd heartily recommend the SanDisk Ultra Fit ones, I and everyone I know use them and we've had no issues with them at all... (just make sure you buy one that is at least 64GB as for some reason the 32GB ones do seem to be slower)...
As mentioned before to play N64 games you need to install the "Virtual Memory" hmod (think that applies to PS1 games too but I can't say for certain as I've not yet added any PS1 games). The Virtual Memory hmod creates what called a "swapfile" on your USB storage device which it uses as virtual ram. I have mine custom set to be 768MB in size which allows me to run the N64 in my collection without issue (no slowdowns etc...). The SanDisk Drives are the best storage devices out of all the different brands I've tested. Other makes such as Samsung ones seem to suffer for random glitches/ freezes every now and then (nothing major) but can be noticeable in games like Mario Kart N64 where it's freeze for about half a second as they access swapfile on them...
In game saves are more tricky to explain how to transfer/ save and use from your old one on a new set up but basically it will boil down to the following...
I personally don't use the internal memory on my SNES mini's for games or saves, everything on my set ups are stored on a USB storage device. The only things stored internally on my mini's are the cores, hmods, config files etc... as that is where HakChi places them...
To export any saved games you have stored currently on your SNES Mini, then simply use the "Tools" menu and "Open FTP client" and that will allow you to gain access to any saved games currently stored on your SNES Mini...
You should find these save files in the following folder "var/ lib/ clover/ profiles/ 0/"... (if that's not the correct folder then simply look around the folders till you find the "Saves" folder, as said I don't use the internal memory on my Mini's for saves so I can't be sure of the exact path to the saves folder but it should be simple enough to find...
Once you found the saves then simply export them to your computer so that you can then put them in the correct save folders on your USB storage device one you have it set up...
The only real difficulty you might have is figuring out which save is for which game as the saves are not saved by the actual games name but by the random name HakChi assign to them when you add a game via Hakchi...
For example, for the SNES game "Chrono Trigger Crimson Echos" HakChi on my set up calls the games folder "CLV-U-BNQWJ" and the save folder for it is also called "CLV-U-BNQWJ"...
So if you had this game already added to your SNES mini then you would copy the file called "cartridge.sram" into the appropriate "Saves" folder on your USB storage device...
The "saves" folders on the USB storage device will be at the following pathname "hakchi/ saves/(then the actaul name of the save folder)
Eg: In this case I would copy the file "cartridge.sram" into the folder called on the USB storage device called "hakchi/ saves/ CLV-U-BNQWJ" and then when you run the game it will find the save file in that folder...
It's trickier to explain than it is to do but basically, if you FTP into your SNES Mini you will find all the save gamed folders/files currently stored on your mini, copy them to your computer, add the games to your new USB set up and then copy the appropriate "cartridge.sram" file into the appropriate save folder on your USB storage device...
Only difficulty you might find is telling which games "cartridge.sram" belongs to which game due to the fact the game and save folders aren't actually named after the actual game and are called things like "CLV-U-BNQWJ". As you don't have the list of games already added to your Mini in HakChi (due to no longer having the original HakChi set up on your computer), you will have to look through each folder individually to find which is the correct named save folder where you need to copy the "cartridge.sram" file too... :-/

google search "undercoating near me" and see what pops up. Just make sure they use a wax/parafin or oil based undercoating. You dont want anythign that dries hard. Gummy and runny is key. DO not let the dealer do it either. Ideally it will be about $400-500 for the initial coat then a yearly inspection/touchup coat. Make sure they spray the entire underside, inside and out of frame rails, inside all wheel wells/fenders, rocker panels, cab corners, tailgate bottom lip, hood front lip, and bumpers if they can.
flashdrive will work for sure. Im not sure what media programs on your PC can amke playlists it can read but i made a USB stick with playlists for my moms escape using the built into the PC windows media player. My silverado is a bit different in how you have to create the lists but functions all the same.
those tiny things just plug it into the hidden USB in your center console or something and forget about it.
It’s stupid simple to be honest. Any 3.1 usb thumb drive will work, preferably one that is 64gb or more. I use this one.. Follow this tutorial. And get your rom packs (sauces) from r/fansofsauce.
Went with the single USB method and used this:

Buy a USB thumb drive, any USB thumb drive that is large enough to hold your digital music collection. I just bought a low profile 128GB SanDisk from Amazon for about $15. I was knocking the regular style ones every time I would pull my mask out of my center console and it would re-scan like it was the first time I plugged it in. So I got a low profile for less frustration.
You may have to rip (copy) your cds to your computer first (windows media player is a free and easy way to do this).Just a link I found googling, I do not in anyway support or represent the page in the link.
Once you have your music on your computer put it on a USB drive, place your USB drive in one of the two USB ports in your Gladiator (one in the covered media slot under climate control settings or one in your center console) and then WHAMMO you have your music in your Gladiator.
A lot of vehicles do this now, insert thumb drive and play music.
Another note, you play music from the drive by going to the media menu option next to the radio option on your display panel. The first time you use it you will need to select the source, but if after that any time you go to media it will be your thumb drive, unless you change ports or switch to a different media option.
Buy one of these to deal with storage. They're dirt cheap compared to what they were a few years ago.
Other people have already dealt with wifi so I'll ignore it.
Offline work - install this extension for almost all Google Drive products (except actual Google Drive) to work offline. If your device is from any point within the last few years it should have access to Crostini (aka "Linux Beta" in settings) and Android apps. Both of these can be used to install apps and programs that easily run offline.
I'm not 100% sure on what you're referring to with sound and even with my hap-hazard guess I wouldn't be able to help much.
Also, Chromebooks are laptops nowadays. They're just not Windows devices. If you need a Windows device for your workflow, then maybe a Chromebook isn't for you. But over time Chrome OS has become much much much more diverse in terms of features and how well it can be used on a daily basis.
If you let me know your device model I can give you a few tips about what you can and won't be able to install etc.
Btw, I had a shielded extension cable from Amazon and it didn't fix my problem with the external HD, it's all a hit and miss attempt. Too much pain for the benefit.
Just a suggestion, best to check out on your PC to compare speed in theory.
USB 2 can handle 480Mbps (60MBps) and USB 3 can handle 4.8Gbps (600MBps).
Your SATA III can go up to 6Gbps (750MBps).
Due to the controller and USB overheads theoretically, max transfer of 250 - 300 MBps for your SSD. So in short USB 2 will not be suitable to saturate your HD transfer rate. USB 3.0 would be better for you but the flaky Bluetooth is not worth it. Move over to a USB 3.0 USB stick is better. I have one and the speed is pretty good at approximately 140MBps. Keep the SSD for your PC instead.

Save yourself the hassle, its a problem with USB 3.0 and this won't be fixed intel admitted this fault. We need to move away from 2.4GHz
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/io/universal-serial-bus/usb3-frequency-interference-paper.html https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/white-papers/usb3-frequency-interference-paper.pdf
What a pain in the ass, but it is not Nvidia's fault here. The problem is known since 2012 we are in 2018 already and there is no solution. Everyone is moving to 5GHz for wifi now, and the only thing that's left is Bluetooth but this won't change anytime soon, even the Bluetooth 5.0 is still on the 2.4 GHz band.
SANDISK Cruzer Glide Flash Drive 64GB USB 2.0 (via Target) worked for me without power mod or hub. I had it filled to about 32GB. I can't confirm if it works when filled past 32GB.
SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-128G-G46 (via Amazon) worked for me (without power mod or hub) when filled to about 32GB but stopped working when I added a ton of new games to it. Sorry, I'm not sure at what capacity it stopped working. I did the power mod on port #2 and now everything works flawlessly with this drive. I did not try it with a powered hub before doing the power mod.
In both of these cases, I'm running PSC Retroboot (standalone). I've never run Autobleem or Bleemsync.
I've been using this (found it suggested in a similar thread)

so far no issues
What about this? I was planning on getting this. SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive - SDCZ430-128G-G46 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07855LJ99/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_XIg5DbQ4CKADZ
I use this little guy, formatted in MS-FAT on a Mac without issues (so far)

I’ve been using this 128GB flash drive without issue. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07855LJ99/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BN1fDbK3QXQ7J
Recently I did have the famous gray X which I believe is caused by removing it without first stopping the data transfer. This will cause the gray X regardless of which drive you use. https://youtu.be/BV17bCluKoo
If you only plan to use this for the 60-minute loop and an occasional press-to-save recording, you could get by with 16 or 32GB drives. But if you plan to just sentry mode, you’ll want to go 128 or 256GB. With 128GB I still have to pull it about every week or so to clear the memory.
Edit: forgot to mention why I like this form factor. The part of this drive that extends into the storage compartment (the handle) is tiny. This reduces chances of damaging it while putting or retrieving objects from that compartment.
I’m using a San Disk Ultra Fit 128 with no issues after the update. Probably should have got the 256.
I could get something like this for storage though right?
I want one like this (usb A one) that fits almost flush with my computer that I can leave plugged in all the time.

This is probably #2 biggest gripe over my newish usb-c only laptop.
