> 512GB is currently the largest capacity available.
There's 1TB cards available. Crazy expensive though.
Great deals on these cards. That 512GB will probably be $50 or less by black friday.
I just googled a general picture of a micro sd card. The point was how small it is. You can see 1TB micro sd cards on sale e.g. here: https://www.amazon.de/Extreme-microSDXC-Adapter-Rescue-Deluxe/dp/B07P9W5HJV/ref=sr_1_3?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=1tb+micro+sd&qid=1576091670&sr=8-3
Looking at Amazon, the cards he used in that video cost 480 dollarydoos… each, so to buy SEVEN of them… well, let's just say Tobias would be in heaps more trouble than accepting a 9-hour collect call from the States.
Not sure if you are looking cost wise or not but here is a pretty common 1TB card I see used with steam deck: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B07P9W5HJV/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?adgrpid=100889064397&gclid=CjwKCAiA9qKbBhAzEiwAS4yeDR1iSVqeGj1YHcgVqA18rV_6c9fsS64awyKAFO_hg2t223FRppeCjBoCJnIQAvD_BwE&hvadid=609115650946&hvd...
I personally feel like the worry of buying fake cards on amazon is way overblown. I have bought half a dozen from amazon and all of them have been the real cards that I ordered. This is the one I use, it's the speed that you want
I would have expected so, because I thought the bottleneck would be streaming textures. With v30 speed being 30MB/sec, that should be the fastest the deck can currently handle through the sd card slot. That said, as /u/goku25jason indicated, switching to an A2 card cleared the problems for him, so the bottleneck must be the I/O speed.
When possible, you should max out both. A2 V30. So something like this would probably be the ideal solution.
Yeah i checked there but no 1tb as far as i can see.
Thoughts on this card?

Ok crazy we are paying almost double for the same card here.
I got mine from Amazon US. It's gone up just recently but it's still not that bad for the extreme version.
> SD cards aren't all that large either.
Not that this invalidates your later point about laptops but... 1TB MicroSD Card. 1TB is a lot of space, even today. Especially since you can package up a few of them in your SteamDeck carrying case. Its also the same price as the upgrade to an internal 512GB drive for the Deck if you go with the small model, meaning more space for less cost if you go this route (also, lower speeds and durability too ofc... but still, its an option depending on how you plan to use it).
Just in case you didn't realize how large they got these days.
>I've also successfully used this 1TB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC card (make sure it is "Sold by Amazon.com if you buy one to avoid fakes): https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P9W5HJV/
That card is way overpriced omg $161 + tax?!
Amazon has their own brand of Samsung that are just as good and are impossible to fake without it being incredibly obvious
For the price of that one extreme card you could get 3 x 512gb Samsung ones
But yes we know it's big and works (valve sent those or some testers iirc) but $$$$$$$$$$$

THis is not true, you can still get fakes since Amazon just throws ALL the cards from their inventory and sellers in one bin if they have the same UPC.

This is the one I'm looking at getting
For $16 more I got the Sandusky Extreme. Idk if it’s a real thing but maybe this card will be marginally better than the Standish Ultra or the Lexar.

I used this with my Switch. Got it on sale for $60-$80 off a couple years ago. It's still too expensive in my opinion, but I got tired of juggling digital downloads on my Switch since it has horrible WiFi download speeds.

Assuming they used a consumer-level dash cam, a 64gb MicroSD card is more than enough for 8 hours of 1080p@30fps.
Even if they only had a weekly policy of retrieving footage, a 1TB MicroSD card would be more than enough, and just looking at this data, I might pick one up on a whim, haha!
That being said, its more than likely that they have a storage device, like an external harddrive, that is periodically uploaded to the police servers, in which case a 4TB external harddrive is enough.
I would be fairly surprised if, in a world of exponentially cheaper storage, that police cars couldn't have a better quality dash cam equipped in matters that are literally life and death.
If you have cloud support (Google Drive, DropBox) and can get a microSD with large capacity (SanDisk has a 1TB size) you should be good.
I paid $180 for the a2 version back around Black Friday. No issues whatsoever.
It's currently at $180 again: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B07P9W5HJV/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=1tb+a2&qid=1617037949&s=electronics&sr=1-5
1terrabyte fits on a microsd card. Microsd card is 15mm x 11 mm x 1 mm = c.100TB/in^3 therefore 2.2 billion songs, assuming the rest of your maths is correct...
I saw a 1TB micro SD card on Amazon the other day. Link
I agree though. Next thing you know we’ll have petabyte hard drives, flash drives, and SD cards.
I got mine from Amazon and it works. You just have to be sure about the labelling and details from the Sandisk line as some are fakes. Here’s the link of the card for reference.
https://www.amazon.ae/dp/B07P9W5HJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_oh2OXuezh9ogV
Yes D2 works. No you can not save game saves to the SD card, there is no write function with the device. I have a clone with 128gb SD card and love it. When 1TB SD cards come way down in price I will get one of those. And yes they are totally compatible with the device.
Even crazier 1tb smaller than a postage stamp, albeit much slower than an NVMe drive.
Now I kinda want to see a 4TB one... Just need four of these (:
I speed tested it at 167MB/s. I must admit to not being able to completely figure out how SD card speed specs work, but it was this SD card: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P9W5HJV/
For something with a size of 1TB, I’m not sure you’re going to get anything smaller than a micro SD card.
Though that will be a lot slower than a Flash Drive, which already will see major slowdowns when you copy a lot of data in one sitting. A flash will take many hours to copy a terabyte of data; an SD card could take a day at minimum (times are guess-timations).
Larger but much faster, with more consistent performance, is a portable M.2 SSD.
My recommendation: the portable SSD. It is the fastest, longest lasting, and surprisingly the cheapest- and it can fit in a purse or coat pocket.
1TB is $183 today https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B07P9W5HJV . The real gem is the 512 for $80 but Amazon is quoting a delivery date in September now (guess that's an indication of how good of a deal it is)
Allow this to absolutely blow your mind.
I mean seriously, look how small it is.
the 1tb extreme is on sale (not extreme plus) 160MB/s
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P9W5HJV/
I paid 250 for this a year ago, 173 is insane.
It probably is not 1tb, but there are things as small as that that can hold 1 tb For Example https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B07P9W5HJV
1) Save data is saved on the Switch’s internal storage even if the game itself is downloaded to the SD card, so you won’t lose that no matter what.
It doesn’t matter if your PC is a bit dated. All you need is a microSD card reader to copy the files. It also is easiest on a Windows PC. Mac and Linux will require additional steps
If it is Windows then you can just copy the Nintendo folder to your PC then copy it to the new SD card.
You could also just redownlaod all your games to the new SD card
The only other things saved to the SD card are screenshots/videos. They can be copied to the internal storage by going to System Settings -> Data Management -> Manage Screenshots and Videos -> microSD Card -> Copy All Screenshots and videos to System Memory
2) I’m pretty sure that there are only two companies with 1TB microSD cards (Sandisk and apparently Micron).
Personally I would go with Sandisk, but it’s also quite expensive. Are you sure that you need that much? I think most people would be just fine with a maximum of 512GB
If you want to get a smaller capacity card then I recommend either the Sandisk Ultra or Samsung Evo Select.
Also, don’t purchase microSD card from third-party seller (especially the 1TB one). SD cards are infamous for people selling fake SD cards that are smaller than what they appear to be.
On Amazon just make sure it says “Ships from and Sold by Amazon”
SanDisk, Samsung, and Kingston make good MicroSD cards. I got a SanDisk Extreme card for my Deck, but it wasn't the cheapest.
I got this one and I have had no problems whatsoever with it. (Though I'd wait for it to go on sale, it looks like the price spiked recently.) This thread and the top comment also have some good info.
320€ (332$ aprox.) here in Spain, i think we are more screwed than they are
I strongly recommend all Steam Deck owners invest in one of these monsters...
As to know and repaired your card if it is bricked or not, I can't help sorry. But I have a way to format correctly when I did my format a month ago~.
I bought the SanDisk 1TB Extreme microSD and since I didn't want to risk a bad format, I used the SanDisk 32GB Ultra microSD that I have as a test.
Each time I wanna format in gaming mode, I was having this error like here and fortunaly I didn't bricked my micro SD card even if I formated two times in a row.
I did some test to get my micro SD card to work and this is the only thing that got it working:
The file used to format is "/usr/lib/hwsupport/format-sdcard.sh" and inside there is 2 line that I used with the variable used in the script. Before using this script you need to set a password with passwd
in Konsole for using the "sudo" command.
In Konsole in desktop mode:
sudo parted --script /dev/mmcblk0 mklabel gpt mkpart primary 0% 100%
and
sudo mkfs.ext4 -m 0 -O casefold -E nodiscard -F /dev/mmcblk0p1
Before using this I removed my partition from my card with "KDE Partition Manager" and apply.
You can see what this command do on this post from lostgoat at Valve. >When formatting via gamemode you get: mkfs.ext4 -m 0 -O casefold -E nodiscard
Then I mounted the card and I went back to gaming mode and removed/reconnect the card 2 times and it appeared as storage!
I hoped it helped.
PS: I tested my 2 cards with H2testw before testing.
I am going fo copy my previous comment from my previous formating problem.

Well I purchased the following:

You have to make sure the SD is fast enough. The SD Card should have that U3/A2 status as well as V30. These SD Cards are a lil more expensive but these SD Cards match the speed of the Internal SD.
If you end up getting a Power Bank it has to have at least 65W output. I bought the following. It's really good.
A micro SD card is not really going to have massive power differences between brands. It really depends on how much you are willing to spend.
1 TB Extreme MicroSD seems to be pretty much the largest and fastest you can get, for about $170.
1 TB Ultra MicroSD is the same size, but slower speed storage option, for about $125
Besides that, you have all the regular options for each type, 512 GB, 256 GB, 128 GB, and so on if you are on a tighter budget. Though, reading a little about the limitations on the Deck, it may have a limit on MicroSD transfer rate, like possibly 104MB/s, so they Ultra might be a more practical choice, just because its transfer rate is closer to the UHS-1 (Ultra 120 MB/s vs Extreme 160 MB/s), so less wasted money, but I am uncertain, and hope that someone more knowledgeable can confirm or deny that.
If you're really pressed for space, you can get 1TB micro SD cards these days.

Nope.
The number inside the U is the Bus Speed.
That means that valve gave us the UHS-I Bus Speed spec (104MB/s max READ speed), but not the UHS Speed Class, where the WRITE speed matters. Maybe it's Speed Class 3 compatible or maybe it's Speed Class 1 compatible, we don't know.

>UHS Speed Class
The next rating is the UHS Speed Class. This stands for Ultra High Speed and refers to minimum sustained writing performance for recording video. UHS came about due to 4K-capable video devices needing faster write speeds.
The SD Association has two UHS Speed Classes, UHS Speed Class 1 and UHS Speed Class 3. UHS Speed Class 1 supports a minimum 10MB/s write speed, whereas UHS Speed Class 3 supports at least 30MB/s write speed. The UHS Speed Class is denoted by either a 1 or 3 inside of a bucket U symbol. As a rule of thumb, 4K-capable camcorders will usually require at least a U3 rated SD card.
UHS Bus Speed
Things get a little more confusing as UHS Speed Class-rated devices will also use one of two UHS Bus Interfaces that indicate the theoretical maximum read and write speeds. They’ll be listed as either UHS-I or UHS-II to show which interface is used. UHS-I devices have a maximum read speed of 104MB/s, whereas a UHS-II card has a maximum read speed of 312MB/s. Note that unlike the UHS Speed Class, these are not sustained speeds.

And 1TB microSD card.
I bought a note 20 ultra so I could still have an SD card slot since most don't anymore.
Wait for this to go on sale I suppose.
so because a m.2 SSD is more expensive the a SD card we should never ever Imagene a world where users can upgrade there m.2 SSD?
not that you are right on that part thou. a 1TB SD card (class 10) is more then a 1TB m.2. but the m.2 is still faster

SanDisk and Samsung cards are the best. I personally have had better experiences with the SanDisk cards though. I'd go with one of the SanDisk Extreme A2 cards. The biggest, and arguably best, card on the market right now is this one:

If that's too pricey for you, you may find this one more affordable:

If that one's still too pricey, I recommend this one:

While these micro-SD cards aren't especially large, micro-SD cards could hold 1TB of data. I'd love to see you try to memorize 1TB of data.
DAMN!
I thought my $400 was a lot.
Funny how now a 1 tb MICRO sd card is less than my 20mb brick sized hd

I've owned like four Sansa SanDisk E200 series MP3 players. Their default capacity ranges from 2 GB to 8 GB, but they have a microSD slot and excellent Rockbox support. I love it. It struggles with lossless files sometimes, and I do miss Bluetooth, but I like the tactile buttons (most modern DAPs are touch-only), and the Rockbox interface.
You could buy an E250 refurbished on eBay for $20-50, plus a 1 TB microSDXC card for about $250 on sale, flash the player with Rockbox, and you should be good to go. I think. I don't actually have a 1 TB SD card laying around to try it, those suckers are expensive.
Not to shill, but I heard that the SanDisk 1TB Extreme microSDXC is a pretty great card. I use the 32 GB variant for most of my devices. The 1 TB variant is currently on sale for $250, down from $450. Too pricey for my needs!

You can buy the nail-sized storage monster directly at the SanDisk online store for $450. The card is also available for Amazon Prime delivery in European countries like Spain, United Kingdom, or Germany. At the time of publication, the card is listed on Amazon’s U.S. site but it says currently unavailable. The price for the Extreme version of the card is about $585 (523 euro) in Europe.
Amazon UK have them. SanDisk Extreme 1 TB microSDXC Memory Card + SD Adapter with A2 App Performance + Rescue Pro Deluxe, Up to 160 MB/s, Class 10, UHS-I, U3, V30 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07P9W5HJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_XBueDbVW9MZWY

£300.
Thanks for the reply, and the link sir, or mam.
I've had plenty of luck with SanDisk. $233.99 is mad expensive.
Looks like the Samsung EVO only comes in 512GB and nothing higher.
There's the PNY 1GB -

Total$229.99
Would like to know which SD card is better? I feel like it's all preference, and they ALL work just the same.
I don't think I've ever heard of wish.com before. Hope it's a reliable place?
SanDisk 1TB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - $182 ($267 off)
SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Card - $119 ($50 off)
24hr offer on the 1TB sandisk - price reduced to $183
What's with that?
Well, I have a Sandisk 400GB MicroSD card right now that I use in my Surface (would test it for you in my 950XL, however its formatted to my Surface right now) and Sandisk actually has a 1TB MicroSD (SanDisk 1TB Extreme microSDXC). Not sure where you are located, however here is the link on Amazon in Canada:
EDIT: and according to this article - https://www.techradar.com/reviews/sandisk-extreme-1tb-microsdxc-card
Micron has one too called Micron C200
Ooooo, and $220 on Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P9W5HJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1XG6DbZR82J5H

It’s not that hard to find. It’s 5 stars with over 200k+ reviews. If you have a problem with the card you can get them to send you a new one. You’re acting like the only way to get a good SD card is to buy one from Nintendo or Best Buy which is laughable.
Here is a 1TB microsd card on amazon
so are you responsible for the huge-ass SSR on JWST that can't even hold a terabyte?
what the heck!?! they have 1TB micro SDs now...
