Like the user in r/hardware mentioned, an SSD is a relatively cheap upgrade that will make your system VERY noticeably faster and 'bearable' for boot time and application loading. You can lurk r/buildapcsales to catch a good sale on an SSD. Make sure it's a Sata SSD like this one: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-NAND-500GB-Internal/dp/B072R78B6Q/ref=sr_1_11?crid=2FTMFM55KVJOW&keywords=sata+ssd&qid=1655244176&sprefix=sata+ssd%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-11 (they all more or less look exactly like this)
SSD storage is one of the largest jumps in performance for basic/consumer computing in recent history... they make a huge difference in usability of your PC, no grinding/waiting for anything. SSDs are so relatively cheap it is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Doesn’t matter how fast your CPU/GPU/RAM is if your storage is 1/5th to 1/10th (sata ssd to nvme SSD) the speed of standard, regularly available storage devices.
A cheap SSD will wake up even the most garbage of old workstations
Blah blah blah
Do whatever you can to include an SSD in your budget. But come on 500gb ssd for 50 bucks https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072R78B6Q/
SanDisk Ultra 3D NAND 500GB... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072R78B6Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share This is the SSD I went with. For me it was an optimal balance between speed and storage. You can get faster and bigger SSD depending on what you need but I think less is more when upgrading old machines. The extra $40 for a faster SSD probably won’t really come to fruition on an older machine.
The main page may be running through stocks from different merchants, but if you go here you can see the smallest available price and still grab it for 67.
This 500GB SSD for £127.19 seems like a good deal, what do people think? it is an over kill since I'm getting a normal 2T+ hard drive? Is the deal so good, that I should buy now (this product never been that low, but also, never got discounted before on Amazon).
I have this drive in my current pc. Building a whole new pc. Should/can i use this old drive as a boot drive? Or is just using the new one for os and games a better option?
Also würde ich dir folgende SSD empfehlen: https://www.amazon.de/SanDisk-Ultra-lesen-Sek-schreiben/dp/B072R78B6Q/

First of all, how big is your budget? if it ranges from $30-$50, get RAM, 8Gb are enough for that.
If you have a little more money, get a good SSD, maybe half a Terabyte (512GB).

I have a relatively cheap ssd for my boot drive, and moving Bannerlord there fixed the issue for me. There are even cheaper options available.
Would this be a good choice? I have 2 hard drive for a total of 3 tera on those so i don't need much I think. https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/dp/B072R78B6Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_HYXQQ2PCCKTZ92DDB11Y

This is the one if that helps
Ah, my bad. Here's a link to the same product on Amazon Canada
Found it. Amazon has it for cheapest, if you dislike Amazon BestBuy might have them. Oddly, Newegg lists it at over $100
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-NAND-500GB-Internal/dp/B072R78B6Q
Ok will do, but I have two questions, one is I've found one I might get, is this good for putting my OS and a few games onto? https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ultra-500GB-560MB-530MB/dp/B072R78B6Q/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=500gb%2Binternal%2Bssd&qid=1611956964&sr=8-5&th=1
And second, would my prebuilt already have SATA cables inside or whatever cable it is needed to plug the SSD in?
Also I do reccomend this san disk ssd over the 480gb one;

NP. If you only need a 500gb drive https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-NAND-500GB-Internal/dp/B072R78B6Q/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=sandisk+ultra+3d&qid=1604161505&sr=8-1 this is the same drive at an all time low.
You guys think this is good? to start off..? https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-500GB-Ultra-NAND-SATA/dp/B072R78B6Q/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=2.5+ssd&qid=1549930015&s=gateway&sr=8-14
Which one would you buy for the X201. Both cost about the same.

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM)
I had the same issue. I got an external SDD (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072R78B6Q/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and an external usb 3.0 enclosure (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0753DXKLB/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
My games load insanely fast. So fast I am usually the first one into the games now.
I have a 250gb version of this https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-500GB-Ultra-NAND-SATA/dp/B072R78B6Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1528010642&sr=8-3&keywords=sandisk+500gb+ssd.
Its really good and quite cheap
