I use a sandisk 400 GB card
Although i havent touched smash since the issue was reported because little sketched to do so after the reports.
-
^Edit: ^Keep ^in ^mind
When i first bought it, it was 200 dollars and the reviews are alot of recommended, now i look at it and price has dropped, be wary of it though now that the reviews went from being solid 4-5 star reviews to a mixed of negative and positive reviews claiming either the cards they recieve are fake/DOA and they had to contact amazon and the seller to be reimbursed/ given a replacement card that was authetic, and others claim that they got a good card right off the bat.
If you do buy this card, make sure to look online to see how to find out if you have a fake card or not.
Just trying to look out for you guys
Give up 100gb and spend 1/3 the money. This is the one I have in my lite and it’s been great so far:
SanDisk 400GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 100MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-400G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_whOxFbGQAMWQV
I got a 400GB card at launch four years ago. Most of my collection is digital, but not all, and I have around 150GB free after owning the Switch for four years. I have had to delete any digital AAA games I own like Doom, but for the most part I can keep most of my collection on the SD card. Although it's not a hassle to delete games you've beaten and redownload them when you want... It is a hassle if you find you constantly have to manage that and figure out which games you're willing to delete when you want to download new ones or re-download old ones. And if you're on a plane, you'll be glad everything's just right there to be played instantly.
Compared to the cost of the system and games, the cost of upgrading to the 256GB or 400GB card is minimal. Given how much I'm already investing in the system, it's absolutely worth $27 for me to know that I don't have to worry about running out of space for a long time. To me, that's the same as investing in a screen protector or carrying case.
I found a 400gb microSD card for $100 on Amazon. Looks like it dropped in price around Thanksgiving (probably for Black Friday).
Having 2TB of storage would be insane in a phone.
Sure just a warning it may pop up as $50 but just make sure you have a prime Account for Amazon if not you can just make one and use the 1 month free trial.
SanDisk 400GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 100MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-400G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_onnlDbXKCTTH4
There's no harm leaving it in and using it as an infrequent file storage device. I wouldn't use it as my only source as SD cards will go bad and they have a limited lifetime of read and writes.
But it makes a good storage area for music libraries for example. Amazon has a great deal right now on Sandisk Ultra 400GB microSDXC card UHS-1 with SD card adapter for $84
I'd suggest taking a shot at putting a small root (/
) partition and your swap
on your ssd and then your /home
onto the as card if you need more space. Root is where your OS/program flies live and run from (15 GB should be pretty generous, depending on your needs), swap is kind of like overflow memory and should be a tiny bit bigger than your RAM if you want any home at suspend or hibernate working --- both of these things really benefit from an SSD and would really hate being on a SD card. Then all your documents, photos, etc, all the stuff that really takes up big space will be under your home dir, on a partition on the SD cards, where you have way more room to spare.
I've been using Linux as my primary OS with this setup on a base SP6 (128 GB) with a 400 GB SD card for about 6 months and have no complaints with/noticing bad performance with having things on the SD card. FYI my ad card is this one, which I don't think is meant to be particularly ”nice" or "fast”
If your trying this and confused feel free to PM me or w/e!
Edit: I should add that I made a bootable linux usb, booted onto that, and installed onto the ssd/SD card from there (you'd use the option to the effect of "let me choose my own partition scheme" to do it"). My UEFI / boot partition is also on the ssd. For the BIOS options I think I turned secure boot off, and I believe I eventually turned off encryption in Windows, but that was after I installed Linux --- as others have hinted at, this might've been a bad idea and you should keep your bitlocker key handy.
To the question if played on CEMU, only if it were a hacked Switch = a nono for OLED since there is zero knowledge and if it were possible there is also risk to getting the console banned. If you do want that PC from CEMU save then just buy a v1 unpatched Switch tablet(as in use the joycons from the OLED to play on both consoles) then google is your friend.
I personally prefer digital, no need to carry cartridges with me, they so easy to lose because they are very small. But being digital you will have to depend on microsd's... make sure to buy as a minimum 128gb microsd either SanDisk Ultra or Samsung Evo+ will help you greatly on both digital or physical owner. The internal 64gb while better storage than the original I consider it insufficient(they could have done 400gb for internal storage heck right now in microsd 400gb is only $50).
that's not a problem, unlike Apple, the Switch can just take an SD card (btw that's why they removed SD cards from the Mac, people were using them to give additional storage because Apple charges 8x the normal price for storage upgrades)
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-400GB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B074RNRM2B
$50.
This is the one I bought, 400gb. I have all my games as digital so this is what was efficient for me. 49 dollars on Amazon. They have smaller sizes as well so hopefully this suits whatever you need
SanDisk 400GB Ultra microSDXC... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Personally i have a lot of digitals. Eventually i would one ps1, psp and psv games on my psv. So that would probably be 256gb. Altho if it is just psv, maybe 128gb would be fine.
Found a link to buy from Amazon:
SanDisk SDSQUAR-400G-GN6MA Ultra A1 400GB microSDXC UHS-I U1 (Up to 100MB/s Read) Memory Card w/ SD Adapter, Black https://www.amazon.sg/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_8O7ZFb1NKFHXZ
Hope im not breaking any rules!
I'm pretty sure they do malfunction just like anything else, but I've never personally had one fail on me and I must have used at least 20 of them in my lifetime.
You can get a 400GB on Amazon US for $99 (or 200GB for $35) over the next 20 hours.

Thanks for pointing that out! I ended up going with a 400GB, but it looks like the seller is "Unikoss". Hopefully its legit, they seem to have positive reviews on Amazon at least
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=twister_B07B3MFBHY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is the one I have (400GB). it's only ~$6 more than the lowest price it has ever had on Amazon.
There's a 400gb microsd for 88 USD on Amazon right now and the 256gb one isn't on sale but is 49.99.
To avoid fakes when buying cards you either want to buy in a physical store or buy from a first party source. By first party I mean if you're buying an SD card from Amazon, Amazon should be listed as the seller.
Buying from Amazon is usually going to be much cheaper than buying from a physical store. I usually suggest buying the biggest Sandisk Ultra you can afford. Except not the 512GB one, the 512GB does not have a very good GB to dollar ratio.
You can also check the card with a fake spotter like H2testw when you get it to be extra sure.
I think there is a 1TB microSD card available, but it's absurdly expensive and not worth it for its price point. Most people go with 256GB, 400GB, or 512GB.
You don't need to use a Nintendo branded microSD card. In fact, you're literally just paying for the branding and cool looking card (that you don't even look at anyways because it's in your Switch 100% of the time). A better thing to do is get a 400GB one for $50 USD on Amazon..
There's 400GB sandisk micro sd cards for $45 and change. Non nintendo brand also. Currently what I'm using. Link below.
I would personally cancel and go with Clove because not only is it cheaper but you also get a free pair of headphones which you can just flip on ebay for an easy $150. That's a big difference in price vs wonda. When you consider the amount you can get for the headphones you're going to end up saving $230 USD assuming you're in the USA. And all you are getting is an extra 128GB on a phone that has expandable storage... lol
256GB is only useful if you are installing tons of games or other heavy apps that need to run off your phone. Otherwise just take advantage of the phone's microSD support and get a nice big card. $60 for a 400GB card on amazon right now...
This is the one I have. Works flawlessly. Hope it helps!!

This 400gb one from amazon works great and its only 53$. I use this exact card in my gpd xd+, samsung s8+, pi3b, pi3b+, pi4b, firehd10 and tab s6400gb sdcard
Delete some shit you don’t play and buy that shit online. Or get an SD card off amazon. This one is particularly inexpensive.
You’re an adult. “Muh storage” is no longer a valid excuse for exposing yourself and others to this shit.
I’m guessing you’re getting it from jb or office works. Check out amazon you can get them cheaper Sandisk SDSQUAR-400G-GN6MA Ultra 400GB Micro SDXC UHS-I Card with Adapter, Black https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-DDtEbRZ8H64N
From looking around the internet for a few minutes, the best I could find is that the DLC size is really small. Like less than 5MB per fighter pack. You could get Smash digitally (a little more than 14GB) and all the DLC and still have plenty of room on the internal memory on the Switch. Of course, if you plan to buy more games digitally, I recommend getting a micro SD card. I have this one myself (though I admit it might be a little overboard).
You really only need one unless you're going to go all fancy and record your own POV and then have one pointing at you to cut in from, or swap between PIP views. Also for MicroSD cards, go big or go home. A 400GB Class 10 MicroSDXC card is only, what, $50 nowadays. Get that. It'll hold all your stuff forever and ever, so if you go for a long weekend ride and record every second, you won't need to dump your footage along the way.
I found that I never have the time for so much post-processing of the videos. Editing videos is time consuming. My time is a premium, and ask me if I'd rather sit and edit, or go ride? =) So, one chin-mounted camera does what I need.
I can highly recommend the Motoradd's mounts for helmet chin mounting, by the way. They stand strongly behind their products, too, I managed to break one and they had another to my doorstep for free within a week.
>Cheapest per GB right now
400GB for $52 beats that one
This is the SD card I use. Absolutely no problems with it. Didn't get my Smash data bricked with Piranha Plant in All-Star(which only happened to fake SDs).
There is also a 400GB right on the nose at $100 I believe, just over $100 maybe.
*Edit: Just searched it, there seems to be a general consensus that you need to be mindful and watch out for fakes. However here is a link to buy it online. Again, fakes are a thing... but it looks like you can also get working ones.
If the 400GB is appealing to you it might be best to pay the little extra and get it in stores.
Took me 4 hours to test with H2testw. It basically just write data until the card is full then read it back and see if there's any file corruption. If there is, then it has less capacity than advertised and it's a fake.
I just bought one from Amazon. It was $79 on Black Friday, so kinda hard to pass up. I have no idea what I'll fill it with, though, but my 64GB was getting full of music. There's also a 200GB card, also made by Sandisk. They're the only manufacturer I've seen make these odd sizes, though. There are 512GB cards out there, but they're not on Amazon and they're really expensive, like close to $400.
Sorry, thats not actually the right one, thats a full size SD card.
THIS was the one i meant to link. I was wondering why it was so low...
400GB MicroSD cards aren't super expensive, especially when you consider that after you buy one you can enjoy it on this Chromebook and your next.
At it's current sale price @ $0.34/GB ($139.99) it's a good deal, but depending on how many big multi-platform games you play it you might not be able to fill that storage, unless you frequently use screen capture and video clip recording.
A majority of games are just small in size (less than 5GB). And many of Nintendo's big hitters are still under 20GB. If you plan to own a lot of games than you can probably go ahead and futureproof your purchase by going with 400 GB, but if you don't own that much than you could consider just getting 200 GB and upgrade in the future.
For memory i just use the best microSD u can find at amazon
NEVER BUY FROM EBAY (only fake ones)
I tried looking for a good battery myself but the best i could settle was 700 mhz what is even worse then my last standard 1200 mhz battery xP

You can go higher than 128gb. I use this 400gb micro sd card for my GPD XD Plus.
That's one of the best replies I have gotten on Reddit! Thank you for the detail! That car analogy is extremely accurate. Can confirm : dad's face when I told him, ha ha!
I agree with you on the filmmaker's kit, I don't know if I would be buying those exact things anyway.
That's sad about the bundles, but I guess that makes sense and I'm glad I know. So it would be better to buy the accessories separately, and just a get a camera/lens combo from amazon?
Should I get accessories all through Nikon or are there some reputable third parties?
I know I will need a couple batteries, a flash, carrying case, a couple filters, mic, and an XQD card. XQD cards are mandatory I would imagine, especially for 4k and high FPS photo shooting, but do I need 2? Can I use something like this for the second card slot? I'm gonna say that this card is a definitely no go, ha ha!
Based on what I want to do with this camera from above, what three lenses would you recommend starting out? Seems like a $1000 lens on a D7500 would take better photos than a $250 lens on a D850, so I won't cry in USD when I see your response and each lens is between $600 and $2000. I'd say a landscape lens, a macro lens, and a zoom lens are the type I would start with.
Thanks again for your reply and your time!
I bought a SanDisk off of Amazon. I've been very happy with the cost and the performance.
Sorry, I should make clear, this is a MicroSD, not an SSD.
These savings aren't just Black and White.

This is what I have, but I got mine from best buy I believe.
Believe it or not, microSD cards can come in any capacity. That they follow the powers of two (doubling every time) that you've pointed out is due to convention. Here's an example of a 400GB microSD card. So there's no absolute reason that it has to be double the last. However, if you look carefully on that page you'll notice a 200GB microSD card and that should give you an indication of what might be going on.
When it comes to hard drives, microSD cards, and what not, there's an internal geometry to how the circuits are arranged. This underlying geometry is what dictates the "platform" the actual SD card or whatever is built upon. So let's look at something.
C . | R- #
So let's say we have the above memory cell represented by the hashtag. There's a C for column line and a R for row line that selects it. Now how the actual selection goes that's a bit detailed, but in this case, if we wanted to address that memory cell we would send (C, R) coordinates.
12345678 1######## 2######## 3######## 4########
So let's say we have the following memory layout. We have here (8 x 4) memory cells which is 32 memory cells. If I shrink that memory by a factor of two (which is usually what the target for shrinking cells is) then in the same physical size I can now fit two of these. And I'll add a "page" selector.
p1 12345678 p2 12345678 1######## 1######## 2######## 2######## 3######## 3######## 4######## 4########
So I've now double the size. But let's say I shrink that by a factor of two again. Now I can fit double the previous. So twice the previous is equal to four times the first.
p1 12345678 p2 12345678 1######## 1######## 2######## 2######## 3######## 3######## 4######## 4######## p3 12345678 p4 12345678 1######## 1######## 2######## 2######## 3######## 3######## 4######## 4########
So if I shrink that by two I'll gain double that, which is eight times the first. I'll just squares at this point to represent pages.
..... |1|2|5|6| ..... |3|4|7|8| .....
Okay. But now let's head back to the first one. And this time the underlying platform, instead of being 8, we're going to make it 10.
123456789A 1########## 2########## 3########## 4##########
So here I start with 40 as opposed to 32. So if I shrink that by two, I can fit twice as much, and thus you would then get 80, 160, 320, and so on...
Companies design the geometry they'll build a platform on from a pretty early point and they tend not to really want to mess with that design unless there's a really good reason. Additionally, a shrink of a factor of two is just a typical goal. If they can shrink more and the platform will fit nicely in that value, then they'll select that. Power of two sizes are usually selected because they fit nicely with a shrink of two. But a platform that is built with say a geometry of 10 would also fit nicely within a shrink of five, since that's a factor of 10. But a shrink of five might be harder to get to so might only do that with some limited platforms.
Hard drives, SD cards, and what not do not HAVE TO be a factor of two, it's just that it's a nice one to work with because shrinking by two is typically the minimum bar. And so a platform with a geometry based on two, gets selected early on in the design phase. But it's not an absolute requirement.
Now people might use powers of two as THE REASON it is the way it is. And there's a good reason for that too. RAM is always a power of two. That is because RAM is tied directly to the CPU and without having to get into how memory is addressed and used by the CPU, a factor of anything other than two would massively slow down everything. However, hard drives and other things like that, like SD cards, aren't tied directly to the CPU, so delays between the two in addressing aren't as apparent as with say RAM. Some people will confuse that requirement with RAM with the same in other types of memory not tied to the CPU, but if it's not tied directly to the CPU, then you can select any size for the underlying geometry of your disk platform.
So why even have the 200GB and 400GB platforms? It boils down to the "cross the line first". Hard disk makers have quite a few platform designs to work with. If they find they can take their factor ten based platform to a shrink of two and everyone else is having a problem with shrinking by two 256GB to 512GB, then they might go ahead and shrink their 200GB to get 400GB and be first person to cross the 256GB line. When everyone catches up and we're solid in the 512GB and everyone is pulling their hair out trying to get to 1TB, they might figure out how to shrink their factor ten to 800GB and be first to market with something post 512GB. It's all a bit of marketing gamble on if they'll do that or not though. If it's been quite a hot minute since the 512GB started, it might be worthwhile to see if shrinking by two the 400GB will work.
Again, the shrinking by two is also just a picked number. It's the factor to shrink by that most makers feel is "worthwhile". But it could be a shrink of 1.75, 0.8888, or whatever. Heck you might even have someone that might not release till they get a shrink of 5. It's all up to the makers. But a factor of two seems to be the factor that a lot of makers like to hit. And since you shrink by a factor of two, you always double the size. And that is why you see that doubling.

EDIT: I also noticed that you would like to know a bit more about how computers work. Might I suggest Ben Eater's 8-bit CPU build. This video series covers logic circuits and some very fundamental building blocks of digital circuits in a very easy to approach manner. His video series uses all of that knowledge to eventually build up to a working 8-bit CPU with very, very basic I/O on a seven segment display. He also has a series on the 65c02 platform, which dives into the realm of looking at hardware and how assembly instructions interact with the actual hardware and begins getting into arithmetic algorithms on that hardware. And yes, you can actually buy all the breadboards and ICs to build along with the video series as each video gives you a parts list should you want to do so for yourself.
As long as you're not going to be taxing it too hard IO-wise (primarily using it for warm/cold storage, not running VMs or games off of it), you can get away with a UHS-I Class 10 SD card. I've gotten this one twice in the past as it goes on sale frequently.

512gb to costly. Look for the Sandisk 400Gb I got on Amazon for $53 as the 512Gb is $100.
Surface Pro can go 1 or 2? TB.
Actually, Sandisk made 400GB microSD, so... 90PB of data !

You mean Sandisk Ultra vs Extreme? The main difference between the two are their read and write speeds - upper and lower limit. For the Switch, the Sandisk Ultra is more than enough with write speed of UHS-1 U3. Even the official Nintendo Sandisk Micro SD cards have the same speeds.
Using a "slower" card on the Switch not noticeable in real world scenario. And the Switch also caps the speeds at 100MB/s. So getting a Micro SD card with maximum write speed above that is a waste of money.

This is what I got. Tested it when I got it and it was legit 🤷♂️
32GB should be fine at the start unless the physical games in particular require a large download. Most physical games do not, though.
But yeah, eventually you will probably want to get an SD card. I recommend seeing how fast you fill up the internal storage to decide how big of an SD card you need.
I recommend either the Sandisk Ultra or Samsung Evo Select SD cards. Just make sure that they’re being sold by Amazon.
> Do I need to buy another joystick or if not a serious gamer the two mini ones that come with it are more than enough?
The included controllers are fine! You just may find that larger controller would be more comfortable, but it’s not at all necessary. Definitely wait and see how you like the comfort of the included controllers before deciding if you want to get a different one.
> How often is the console release cycle, every few years or undetermined? I wouldn’t want to buy the current console if another is coming out soon.
Nintendo’s consoles usually last at least 6 years. I don’t expect a new console for at least another 3 years.
We could get an improved version of the current Switch, but we have no idea if that will happen and it would not make the current model obsolete anyway.
> Is Animal Crossing as good as it sounds? Heard people rave about it.
It’s good, but it’s definitely not for everyone! It’s not quite like most games. I recommend checking out this post if you want to learn more about what the gameplay is like.
> Presume it’s best not to buy the Switch Lite since you can’t display on TV right?
If you want to use the Swirch on the TV then it’s definitely best to go for the regular Switch if you can afford it. The Lite is a good cheaper option but that’s a pretty big feature that it’s missing.
I don’t think there are any special features with Apple TV
Amazon also has it at this price

FAT32...yes, but not ExFAT. There's a huge difference...FAT32 has a file size limitation of 4gb's, while ExFAT has an unlimited amount. Try fitting a full HD movie on FAT32...it's not going to happen. But it will on ExFAT, and you can get Class 10 MicroSD cards as big as 400gb's for $250...on sale right now for $80.

I just bought this 400GB SanDisk microsd card for $139.99 from Amazon (looks like it's just gone up in price)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074RNRM2B/
So far it's working great on my GPD XD+. I can now install a ton of PS1 / Gamecube / Dreamcast games onto it :)
This?
These are a thing already btw:

You can easily buy 400 GB microSDs, but I've yet to see a microSD with more than that. There do exist large SD card with 1 TB, though.
Nope, Sandisk 400gb was released a month or two ago.
SanDisk Ultra 400GB microSDXC UHS-I card with Adapter - SDSQUAR-400G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B

Do you have a link to this? The biggest microsd card I've seen is 400gb.
> It seems to me that these two technologies should merge. There should > be a very simple word set to handle storage on a microsd card.
Since you want to stick with ANS, this already exists. Raw access can be managed by the block word set[1] and access to the file system can be managed via the file-access word set[2].
> The interface has 8 terminals so one needs a controller with 8 spare > pins. If one needs more pins than that they need to add a second > controller.

Which is impressive, but such a machine will be very expensive. Just taking a quick look, the 400gb microsd card I know of sells for around $250[3]. At that point I'd rather invest in a smaller amount of storage and get a more capable processor and a wifi module[4]. With that I could cache relevant data locally and have access to as much storage as I want by using a remote server.

SanDisk Ultra 400GB Micro SD Card - $44.99(US)/$62.99(CA) Lightning Deal
Just checked price history, this is the lowest this card has ever been on either website. Looks like there's only 8 hours left so hurry if you need the upgrade. I filled up my 128gb card ages ago and have had to cycle games in and off of it since so I've already ordered one for myself. You require prime for the .ca website deal, doesn't look like it for the .com website, but someone else would need to confirm this.
US ($44.99 USD) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074RNRM2B

400GB ones were on sale for $99 not too long ago. It's $125 now: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074RNRM2B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's also a standard USB, not a micro SD I accidentally wrote USB instead of SD. My point is that flash drive wouldn't be broken off on the Wii U and it's the same storage size 32GB.
