You won't find much, if any difference in quality at that price. I'd just pick up the cheapest used one you can find. The amazon top selling monitor goes for 66 dollars if you can't find one used and find some coins under the couch though: https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-E205W-1600-Monitor-Speakers-Metallic/dp/B00S8W8QMG/ref=zg_bs_1292115011_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=5BY9NVZ27MN3Z7CSBBQB
I think you should just get a monitor. They have become much more affordable then they were a couple years ago.
You can get one like this for around 65 usd:
Yes I see the second monitor as well, my laptop shows as "mobile pc display" and the monitor as "Generic non PnP Monitor". I've tried setting the monitor from extend to laptop only and then back to extend again and nothing changed. My model is Samsung SyncMaster 941BW and I've tried searching as you said but can't find any definite information. Lot of them says replacing caps or just replace the monitor. I mean this monitor is old as in like 10 years so I was thinking of getting cheap monitor like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S8W8QMG/ref=psdc_1292115011_rv_t1_B00KWCD8D2 and just get on with it. But I don't know if the problem is my laptop or the monitor. Do you think in my case the chance of my laptop being problem is low?
See I'm coming from a 15 inch laptop screen. So. Anything greater than that seems like a world of difference. For example, I'd been looking at this Sceptre monitor - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8W8QMG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER How does this look? Edit: I have an HDMI cable ready for this purpose, by the way.
Can you explain to me when I would use the DSI?
Regarding your answers, could I possibly take this monitor in the amazon link and just hook it to the RPI 2?

Happy early birthday!
Do you know what kind of resolution or size you want in a monitor? Those are the two important factors in cost in my opinion.
$60 is really cheap as far as monitors go. For example I found this one on amazon for $66, but it's 20" and not full HD (only 1600 x 900).
This one is $90 and full HD (1920 x 1080), so that might be a good option for you. Acer is a solid brand. I'd say in your price range your best bet is to browse Amazon for a deal, or maybe use craigslist or offerup and try to get lucky with a deal there.
Here's the exact model: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8W8QMG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And no, 1600x900 is not on the list.
No idea how high your budget is but check out this 20 inch screen on Amazon for $64.
