My watch looks really similar and I'm really happy with it.
Since my family goes out of town for Christmas, she and I did our little gift exchange before hand. At first she found a pretty neat looking Invicta that arrived with a broken movement, so she returned it and apparently made a step up to this Seiko Solar. I haven't exactly figured out how to use the adjustable compass within it, and the alarm function still baffles me with it's setting process, but otherwise I love it. Nothing like I have in my collection, and I found the light brown leather band to fight great with the stainless steel case and black dial. Lume is great, no complaints! Seiko SSC081
hey man. saw it on amazon:
What about these?
Can you recommend a 20 mm bracelet for my seiko? [link]
Bought an SSC081 about a month ago, meets all of your specs, looks great, and it's reliable (Seikos usually are).
Here is the link [link]
I have the same one , and I love it
Based on your description of his style and what you're looking for in leather and color, this is the first watch that came to mind because I think it's a perfect fit for those criteria:
But, I know it's much lower than your budget, so maybe you get him some other stuff too. For example, it's nice to get new Cologne every year and you shelf your last bottle at write "2016" on it. Because smells are such a powerful trigger for memories, you can spray some later on and it may help you vividly remember things from 2016.
Or maybe you get him a more expensive watch. If you want to go that route, I would go with this one:
Or this one (but order a lighter color band for it, they're pretty cheap):
