I've been using the Semogue 1305 for about three years. It has only become softer each year and I think it will last me another two years at least.
I don't know if the knot is the same, but might be one to check out (it's quite big and floppy but with enough backbone to use on harder soaps) I especially like the old school color scheme.

It takes a little time for a boar brush to break in but when it does.... man that is a nice and super cheap brush to have. This is mine. I have a dozen brushes, some of them really expensive and I still love this one
Was your last brush a Van Der Hagen boar brush? Those are fairly notorious for shedding. That was my first brush and it lost about 3 bristles per shave, sometimes as many as 5. Since getting my Semogue 1305 about a month ago, I have lost maybe 3 bristles total.
If the brush doesn't work out and you're able to return it, I'd suggest grab an Omega Boar brush (note, these brushes have slightly longer bristles than you might be used to if you haven't used one before)
