Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_GYpDybMNZX838
$115 new, $80 used through Amazon Warehouse. Don't get the standard 598 if you plan on using these outside of home. These are the Closed version that doesn't leak sound out.
Evo upravo sam vidio da su slušalice Sennheiser HD 598 na popustu sa 230€ na 99€. Koliko sam vidio ta ponuda vrijedi na svim amazon stranicama.
You picked a good day.
Amazon has the 598 c's on sale right now. Should be good for games and I can attest that it is comfortable, because I own the old model of these and those were comfortable as all hell.
> Sennheiser HD598
These cost around 160€ on italian amazon and they are already discounted. But oh boy do they look beautiful.
I've found a HD 598C version that is closer to 100 bucks, would that still be worth it?
What does the C stand for? Closed?
Try these ones out: HD598 Cs
Currently super cheap on amazon germany, I've actually seen them drop to 100€ several times in the past couple of weeks, but I'm not too sure if they're gonna be that cheap again soon.
It's closed, has really good sound and a detachable cable (it actually comes with two cables - one 1.2m with a mic and remote and a 3m cable without a mic)
As someone that listens to pretty bass heavy music (Drone/Stoner/Doom/Sludge metal & ambient music)...
I love my Sennheiser HD598Cs, they have a good mid-range with punchy bass and not SUPER tinny treble. You can get the HD 598Cs on Amazon for about $129 right now (I'm not sure what region you're in).
Also, they're wired. :)
Love my SE215s, but unfortunately my cable's broken (lots of static) and it's pretty expensive to replace them.
I also have a pair of Sennheiser HD 598 Cs. I got them from Amazon Warehouse so the box was "slightly damaged", but the actual headphones were new. It ended up coming to about $90 back then, so keep an eye out!
Check out the HD598 Cs, they’re closed back so would be good for office use and look much more sterile. Main drawback is they’re not very portable (don’t fold up) and are a bit flimsier. But they’re cheaper and sound is fantastic.
They’re actually much cheaper on the Canadian amazon store right now: https://www.amazon.ca/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1541203562&sr=8-4&keywords=Sennheiser+hd598
For sale I have a like new pair of Sennheiser 598 Cs headphones. These have been lightly used and work flawlessly. Includes original box and all original cables. For more information about this model: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
I am asking for $70 paypal shipped in CONUS.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Sennheiser 598Cs, if you can get them from Amazon. They come with a surprisingly good in-line mic, and they're fantastic headphones.
I have Sennheiser 598cs that I got on sale for $100 and I love them. Theyre pretty good isolation but they'll get beat by something like bose noise cancelling headphones. Likewise, if youre in a crowded space people close to you will likely hear what youre listening too but this has never really been a problem for me and theyre not open back so I douvt it will really be a problem for you. Sound quality is fantastic, and you can easily drive these without an amp.
Hey sorry to bump this old thread but had a quick question. I found these :
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-SR-Open-Back/dp/B01JP436TS
Which are basically the Closed Back version of the 598s (Didn't realize these existed).
Any experience with these / insight into how it may affect the sound?
From what I know, Sony is meh, Bose doesn't have the best audio quality but they have the best active noise cancellation. Can't go wrong with Sennheisers either. You can take a look at the HD 598 CS which are these https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS . $130 isn't a great price for them and I have seen them for $100 a few times. You should shop around and see what you can find.
Just bought these Sennheiser HD 598Cs. Would it be a good idea to get a sort of DAC to plug them into? Is the quality much better versus plugging the cord into the 3.5mm jack on the motherboard?
I always heard about people getting DACs with their headphones, and I was wondering if it's worth the price. If so, I might look into getting one around Christmas. So far, they seem pretty pricey.
Thanks!
I got another recommendation for the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs. Have you had any experience with those? How would you compare them to the Audio Technica ATH MSR7?
Really dont be married to wireless if you want quality; especially keeping under 150. Id still suggest Sennheiser, but dont get "dj" headphones. I havent tried this and compared it to others, but its probably the best youll get with 150

Read all of it, thanks so much for your reply. Probably gonna go with the Sennheiser HD 598Cs since they're closed back.
I think I prefer open back, mostly because last time I used closed back, I couldn't even hear myself talking with my microphone and it was thoroughly confusing, but they might have been noise cancelling. The closed back are also on sales.
Then again, how noisy will open back be to my surrounding? How much goes through from the outside?
Looking for a new pair of headphones since my current ones just broke on me. I mainly play CS:GO, so I need reliable headphones that will let me hear what direction things come from. I've been looking at the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs but I'm not sure if they have surround sound like I'm looking for.
Budget - I'd prefer not to spend more than $130.
Source - Desktop PC
Requirements for Isolation - Since I live with my family, I'd like to have a good amount of noise isolation.
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? No.
Preferred Type of Headphone - Full sized
Past headphones - Logitech G430, which just broke on me
Well they don't make the ones I have anymore so I dunno lol the 598 closed back look like they might be the most comfortable, but I imagine they're all really comfortable.
Yeah, and they also came out with the 598 CS, which is just a cheap version of the 598's.
I got my ivory 598's for $114 CDN back on November 28, 2014...which is a big reason I'm not too worried about the colour, just slightly annoyed.
Well the direct upgrade from yours, the Beats Solo2, are supposed to be good if you like that Beats sound, but if you don't like the comfort of on-ears you could look into the Sony MDR-1A, say. I hear they're bassy and are over-ear headphones. Pop into somewhere like Addicted to Audio or Jaben and ask to try a few things out. Music is a very personal thing and other folk recommending things only goes so far.
EDIT: Also I have a pair of as-new Sennheiser HD598CS I was planning on getting around to selling at some point if those float your boat. Prob had about 20hrs of use at my desk, full retail packaging etc etc. PM me if you're interested.
Mmmmmm, stereo. I used to run a Mesa 50/50 with a 4x12 slant cab and a Fender G-Dec30 on top. I really liked the way the two amps complement each other, so I'll bet your Marshall/Fender combination is sweet. A favorite Helix preset of mine is a Brit J-45 (JTM-45) on one side and a Tweed Blues (Bassman) on the other.
For late night playing, with the Helix I go straight through a pair of these after my ancient Koss Pro4As bit the dust. They are pretty flat (the mids are boosted a bit when mixing, but they work okay for guitar as my ears aren't what they used to be) and stereo signal paths into them are heavenly.
Wish I would've seen these earlier.
The closed back version is on sale on Amazon for $100 and you can pick up a boompro for $30 if you don't mind doing the 3.5mm mod(simple no soldering or wiring required.) I just ordered the 558's with the boompro and am going to do the 3.5mm mod.
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
I have a pair of HD598 and love them to death, but they are open back. This means they don't isolate sound. It benefits them by giving a huge sound stage. I honestly turn around sometimes because it sounds like the music/movie/game sounds are coming from behind me. Since you're looking for something specifically to block out sound you may want to look at others.
There are HD598cs, which are closed models. I've not tried them personally but they may fit what you're looking for better.
Also think about if you want on ear headphones or around ear headphones. The m50x are great, but some people complain about pressure on the ears since they rest on them. Part of why I went with the 598 is because the ear cup is large enough to not touch your ear, the headband is wide enough to not apply pressure, and the velour and open back let them breath so my ears don't get hot.
If you have any questions about the HD598 I can try and answer them for you :)
It's what I did, now checking what music is best to test headphones. And thanks for the HD 598 CS xD. And don't worry homie, I got it covered.
Whats the difference between the ones that you have and these https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482100028&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+598
Im pretty new the high end headsets, sorry.
For $100 this a pretty good deal for this sennheiser headset. You will need to get a different microphone if you wanted to talk. https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483136460&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+598+CS
I just got the HD 598 c's because there was a crazy flash sale a while ago. I have only ever used that product from this company and like it a lot. Sounds great, noise cancelling is next level, and it's comfortable. My 1 gripe was that the mp3 cable wasn't long enough for me.
Edit: Actually looks like it's on "sale" again https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_1/163-1316904-4758962?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1482962073&sr=1-1&keywords=sennheiser+hd+598
YO!
HD598CS is on sale ATM and for that price this is a no brainer!
I'm thinking of getting my first proper set of headphones, and have been looking at somewhere around the £150 range. They need to be closed back to prevent sound leakage and I'll be using them to listen to music as well as possibly making videos / podcasting, so I want them to have fairly balanced sound. The headphones I use at the moment are the Sennheiser HD 202, but the cans keep coming off the band when I take them off.
I'm looking at the Sennheiser 598 Cs (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Around-Ear/dp/B01JP436TS), and am wondering if there are any better ones in the same price range, and if I will need an amp for the 598 Cs's.
I will be plugging them primarily into my computer and also my phone
I'm thinking of making a podcast / some YouTube videos, but mainly for playing games and listening to some music. What would be some good headphones for this? I've seen this pair https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Around-Ear/dp/B01JP436TS but I'm not sure if they leak sound or not. Are they good or are there better Ines for the same price point?
You could get a Sennheiser HD598cs from Amazon, but the deal is ending in about an hour https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/
Or you could get a HyperX Cloud II or 1 if a mic is needed
An ATH M40x without a mic if you're late for the deal, just get with it HM5 pads, stock ones are bad
Didn't know Also :)
speaking of being wrong well sorta CS 598's £89 in the UK not as good as last year but still
Foot mouth :D
Hello! I was looking at getting the Sennheiser 598 Cs headphones for gaming/listening to music. Amazon posted that this was a cyber monday deal and I thought that at 100$ off, these would be a great value. i read that while the soundstage was a little more narrow than the open back version, I do want closed back over ear headphones because I want to be able to use them in public spaces without atrocious headphone bleed. Here is a link to the headphones.
If I want to listen to these from my computer, is a dac or an amp recommended? I will be using the audio solution on my Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard. My price point for the amp/dac will be 100-150$ for both. If I only need one then it can be upto but not more than 150.
Thanks!
(BTW I listen to rock, metal, electronic, hip-hop/rap. I like solid bass response, but my old Razer headphones had overpowering bass that made it not very good to listen to. My current pair of nice headphones are Jaybird Bluebuds X).
Nope. 598C are luckily in similar deals in eu´s Amazons too. (That part was only for SA CB-1)
Amazon.de 99EUR + free shipping to my country (Czech Rep).
UK Amazon has similar offer 89GBP. I guess most other Amazons have it too.
If you buy from outside EU. And its more than 22eur you have to pay your national tax to your customs. For example: for me to the Czech rep it would cost around 150$ from US Amazon for current 100$ 598c deal...
Not sure. I ordered mine from https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Around-Ear/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_4?srs=1649401031&ie=UTF8&qid=1480038103&sr=8-4&keywords=hd+598 . Shipping to the US was like 10 bucks and I wont get them for a while, but still better than 200
I guess I'll start off saying that I'm thinking about getting the 598 Cs (https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS) when they go on sale (hopefully...) from everything I've heard on this subreddit, they're very comfortable, quality headphones. That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not necessarily an audiophile. I'm used to spending like 50$ or less on gaming headphones. Some last me a year or two. Some only a year. But they ALWAYS break. What I want is a nice pair that's comfortable and that won't break randomly like all my other gaming headphones ultimately do.
I was just looking for suggestions on alternatives to the 598 C's in the chance that I'm not able to get them. Like I said, looking for comfortable, quality headphones (not necessarily even sound quality [I feel like that's probably a sin to say on this subreddit]), in the $150 or less price range.
Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions!

Need nice headphones? Sennheiser's HD598 Cs can be found for $100 (70 with your coupon, wow that's a deal).
Guys, I know this is a common question, but...
M50x or HD 598 CS?
Yes, I said CS. Sennheiser has launched a Closed Back version of their HD598s yesterday, and it's only available in India as of now.
The advantages i've read about the 598s are that they are more comfortable and have an open sound stage, but need an amp (since 50ohms). However, the last two things don't count for the CS version since they are closed back and have an impedence of 32ohms. I will most likely not be using an amp with them. Mostly for music and gaming and YouTube.
(P.S: Both are at discount for a few hours on account of sale on Amazon India, so it's very urgent :P )
EDIT: Bought the HD598 CS! I wanted a larger earcup and more comfort. Hopefully they'll be good.
Amazon Warehouse & most of em have little dings here and there.
There's one thats just re-packaged on page 4 and some more for $5 more on page 7.
Otherwise you can get it brand new for $100 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JP436TS/
Amazon Italy - Sennheiser 598 Closed Back for EUR 99,00
Amazon Spain - Sennheiser 598 Closed Back for EUR 99,00
Amazon France - Sennheiser 598 Closed Back for EUR 99,00
Amazon UK - Sennheiser 598 Closed Back for £ 89,00
^(As of 25/11/2016 1:00 GMT)
, have alerts on all 598 closed back in europe so will try to post them as they come, have personally decided to go for the fidelio x2 :P
For anyone curious, here's the link to the Amazon page and a Head-Fi.org review of the HD 598 Cs:
Amazon Page: Click Here
Head-Fi.org Review: Click Here
Sennheiser's a great brand, and I personally have a pair of Sennheiser HD 201s, HD 419s, CX3.00s (for my phone/mobile devices), and more recently, a pair of HD 598 SRs — the latter of which I was able to snag on Prime Day for $110 CDN :P
I would recommend HD558 or HD598C which are on amazon for $99 here
Elite pro: $199.99
Versus my recommendation:
Sennheiser HD 598C (Amazon will have them on sale for 99.99 for Black Friday, according to various sources) $99.99
ModMic $54.99
Any Y adapter will work, like this $7
Grand total: $164
Now you have something that sounds better than any gaming headset.
Now, if you are dead set on getting a gaming headset, I'd heavily recommend HyperX over anything else.
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
Up to 219?
Does this mean they'll still be going on sale somepoint tonight? I'm assuming probably 2am Central because Amazon is west coast?
Yeah that's very overpriced. I paid about $100 USD for them shipped to Australia so I understand the pain since Americans can get them for $50 shipped.
The only other open back headphones I can think of are Sennheiser 598 which are super comfortable headphones with a trusted brand and probably the most popular headphone for gamers who've made the switch to audiophile headphones. They should be getting reduced in price to 99usd in the next couple of hours for black Friday sales for both Amazon US and UK. Keep your eye on the subreddit and the stickied black friday thread for details I guess.
For closed headphones-
Apparently Skullcandy SLYR are recommended and fit within your budget as well as being availble in Europe. No idea on the comfort.
http://www.head-fi.org/a/head-fi-buying-guide-gaming-headphones
Status Audio CB-1 are also good, comfortable and compatible with a vmoda boom pro. Their branding and packaging is purposely very plain though.
Finally Sennheiser 598c are the closed version of the 598 and being heavily discounted by Amazon right now for Black Friday. Quite an amazing deal. Needs an adaptor if you want to use a boom pro
Finally, some people really hate modmics because of having to deal with the extra cable. The boom pro is only compatible with 3.5mm jacks unless you buy a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter for it(should be pretty cheap).
Out of my recommendations if I had to chose now, I'd probably for the 598C as it's a once a year price for a trusted headphone brand that is comfortable.
yeah the closed back ones. They're pretty good they had some amazon black friday deal, picked them up https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
I believe the 598Cs is still on sale for about $99 on Amazon.
NOTE: These are the CLOSED back version but are arguably better than the 558's for only $25 more.
eh, just get them on amazon to be safe: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/
> which would be better for bedroom playing, monitors or frfr?
I don't use my studio monitors because they sound like a recording, not an amp.
I use a pair of these for their flat response and couldn't be happier. (These are good, too.) When using the dual parallel amps with stereo delays or modulation effects, the sound image is unbelievable. The worst thing about them is there is a tendency to run them too loud because they sound so good.
I also occasionally run into a Mesa 50/50 stereo power amp and a 4x12 when I get the urge to make my pant legs flap.
Yes but it's Amazon exclusive. I don't have any experience with it though so can't comment on it specifically.
It'd help if you specified what kind of headphones you've tried before. I've got a big head and I wear glasses and I've had issues with headphones and headsets before like the ATH M50.
The best headphones I've had comfort wise were the Sennheiser HD 598, which I believe they've replaced with a newer model. Those headphones are super comfy and I had never had any issues wearing them for extremely long gaming sessions.
Looks like the replacement model is called the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs, which you can pick up on amazon for $150 in the US. Looks like there's also a sale on refurbished models for $100 on amazon.
I currently use a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms at work and those are also quite comfy. They're a bit tighter than the sennheiser 598s (bit more clamping force) but I find that just lengthening the bridge between the headphones is enough to keep them from being uncomfortable.
I also own some Sennheiser HD6XX which I think were a huge step down from the Sennheiser HD 598s in terms of comfort so I wouldn't recommend those.

Where did you buy them? The headphones alone are $300 on Amazon.
HD598's are about as good as it'll get without a DAC/amp being semi-important.
Creative Aurvana Live 2's are a great set of cans for the price. Imo, they're honestly the best it gets until you drop $150+. They honestly shit on just about anything you throw at them in their price point too, imo.
HD6XX's (HD650 reskin) are from massdrop, the sale opens fairly often, and are essentially $350 headphones for $200. They reaaaally benefit from a DAC/amp though. Even a small two-in-one.
Another honorable mention are the AT-MX50's. They're just the ole reliable recommendation to me. They've aged alright and go on sale fairly often.
There's a lot of stuff to look at when you buy headphones, and honestly, it's just a 'you get what you pay for' type thing up until a certain point.
For pure listening experiences, I don't enjoyed closed-back (noise cancelling) AT ALL, unless in mobile use. Open backs are a lot more immersive to me. Another thing is that "digital surround" and surround emulation are kinda fake and physically impossible. You have 2 speakers on your head. Not 7 and a sub. Digital surround is a pretty bad meme and something you shouldn't fall for.

If you can swing it, these are tons better.

Ohh, if you mean these, then unfortunately they're not all that similar to the actual 598's. They instead are extremely close to the HD 569, which is a bit more expensive than it right now. I'm actually using a pair of them right now and can say they're good for that price. I can also let you know that the Cloud will be a bit more bass-y than the 598Cs, but the 598Cs is still considered a "side-grade" (think half-step) to the Cloud.
If you trust the reviews on the Alpha, then by all means go for it. I am now reading that they are different from the Takstar 80 drivers, so I won't be able to really comment on how good they are. The alpha seems to be preferred, however.
Would the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs and the FiiO E10K pair well together?
I was looking for a good and afforable DAC to get with these headphones. I just got them a week or two ago, and I feel like there's more I could get out of them, hence my interest in a DAC. I've been eyeballing the E10K for a while.
I'm looking for more detail, and a bigger/wider sound (if that's possible with a DAC. I'm not an audiologist or anything lol). More bass would be a nice bonus cause I listen to a lot of hip hop, which is something the E10K has with the switch on the front.
Budget - Under £130
Location - UK
Source - My computer with a Z87 Plus motherboard, although I would like it to also be usable on my phone.
Requirements for Isolation - Yes I want closed headphones since I am at university and it can be fairly noisy.
Preferred Type of Headphone - Wired
Past headphones - HyperX Cloud II
The two headphones I seem to have narrowed it down to are the (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Around-Ear-Matte-Black/dp/B01JP436TS)[HD 598 Cs] and the (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Beyerdynamic-Pro-Headphones-Black-Limited/dp/B01ERLN180/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8)[DT 770s 80ohm].
I am worried my computer will not be able to power the 80ohms well enough. Even if it can't power it to its best, will it still sound better than the HD598Cs?
This is the link to the HD598.
And here is the DAC they're talking about.
The Orei(?) doesn't seem to be affiliated with Sennheiser at all.
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01JP436TS/ (about $200).
Please critique my budget setup for listening to CDs. I don't understand the technical numbers like impedance and Ohms. I just want something that doesn't hiss. I tried using my laptop to play CDs, but the ambient hissing was audible.
If you care about clarity, stereo cannot be beat. 7.1 is really neat for ambient sounds in non-competitive games like Witcher 3, but because it is being software generated, will sound "muddy".
Seeing as positional sound is your absolute top priority, then Open-backed headphones would fit the bill. Only downside is that everyone around you can hear what you're hearing and vice versa.
Depending on your gaming environment, I'd strongly recommend a pair of good traditional headphones and a separated dedicated mic. You'll get much better quality sound for the same price as the "fancy" gaming headsets.
For reference, here's my current sound setup:
Sennheiser HD598 Cs+Antlion ModMic 5
While I know some people are on a budget, these go on sale quite often. In fact, There are also a ton of cheaper alternatives that still blow traditional gaming headsets away. For example, the Sennheiser HD 558 is on sale right now over at r/buildapcsales on bestbuy.com
I was a bit harsh. Their mice are solid, but not for the price. The G502 is half that price and has what I find to be way better build quality.
Avoid their headsets and keyboards, though.
Get a good pair of cans with a Modmic. WAY better investment.
As far as keyboards go, I firmly stand by Cooler Master. I'm using the Quickfire Rapid-i (The MasterKeys is pretty much an RGB version of that) and it's a damn tank. Nice and compact with a solid casing. Can't go wrong with it.
hd598 was in my mind but I'm not sure..Do you really recognize enemy with hd598 ? Did you compare it with Hyper Cloud series ?

Any experience with the Logitech 982-000079 UE 6000 Headphones - Black?
Got an offer for them for $60. I am currently using Logitech 598 CS https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS with an attached ModMic for gaming.
I've looked at a few posts here but only found one with glowing reviews, none with any negatives really. Anyone else have experience with them?
Budget - ~300, Flexible
Source - Galaxy S6, Desktop PC, or Mpow Bluetooth v4.1 Receiver
Requirements for Isolation - More Isolation. I plan to use these in my office and in public
Preferred Type of Headphone - Over-ear/ full sized
Preferred tonal balance - I prefer a more natural balance, maybe some emphasized bass and mids, but nothing crazy. Just some cans that are a pure joy to listen to.
Past headphones - Sennheiser earbuds (old, and not sure which model), Sony Gold Playstation headset
Preferred Music - A pretty wide range, mostly acoustic and alternative (Lewis Watson, Cody Fry, John Mayer). Classic rock (Queen) and more modern rock (Thirty Seconds to Mars, Pierce the Veil). Piano centered classical (Ludovico Einaudi). A bit of EDM/ Pop/ House music (DJ Snake, Kygo, Lauv). Some hip-hop/ rap (Run the Jewels)
What would you like to improve on from your set-up - For my next set I'm really looking for a pair of closed backs that are a joy to listen to for hours, with the best sound stage and positioning (I'd like to use these for gaming as well). I know that's difficult for closed backs obviously, but I have come up with some potential choices:
I'm very unsure though, and I'd love to hear your comments and recommendations. Also, a detachable cable is preferred but not required (I wouldn't mind modding the 770s if that ends up being my choice).
Thanks!
If you don't want audio leakage, get closed headphones, like the 598 Cs
Are the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs a deal? It's not marked "on sale" but it's listed as $125 and on Sennheisers website they're listed at $250.
When it comes to headphones I am using some Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Backs they aren't audiophile material or so i'm told, but I still think they are amazing headphones. (Keep in mind I use a blue snowball as a mic to talk when gaming)
If you are looking for a headset I personally love the HyperX Cloud II's I had the first edition of them and they were great! I heard they improved a lot about them with the second generation of them.
When it comes to fans I used to use the Corsair SP120's currently I am using the fans that were stock on my H440, but the corsair fans are quality static pressure fans that are pretty quiet. Plus they have mod rings to fit your build aesthetic.
These are on sale atm, been using them for about a year now and absolutely love them, No built in mic so you'll likely have to pick up a cheap clip on, I'm not entirely sure how they stack up directional sound wise also so may want to look into that more (If you do want to wait and miss the deal these models go on sale fairly often)
Also the 598 version is on a comparable price on amazon, slightly better sound quality but closed back
If you do need a mic you can look at This model for instance

I've tried several software solutions for this such as Voicemeeter Banana. The trouble is that no matter how fast your computer is, you're going to have a few ms of delay because of Windows and all that jazz. The result is that your voice will sorta be echoing by a few ms in your ears. It's okay for getting a volume level but long term doesn't work because when you hear yourself on an echo like that, it gets a little confusing at least for me anyway.
The zero delay solution for me at least was to just buy a microphone that has a monitor 3.5mm audio jack built into it. I use a Shure PG42 USB microphone that has a built in monitor jack for headphones. And Shure's audio driver in Windows allows me to also route the game audio through Voicemeeter Banana to my capture software as well as to the Shure 3.5mm headphone port. The headphone jack shows up in Playback Devices as Shure Speakers. The result of this setup is I get game audio as well as my realtime voice through my headphones. The microphone also has some of its own volume adjustments so I can level out the game audio and my voice in my ears (so I can actually hear myself clearly over the game). Recently upgraded to Sennheiser 598 Cs headphones and this setup works awesome.
Unfortunately the Shure PG42 USB was discontinued awhile back. You may be able to find a decent priced used one on eBay and there are some new ones still being sold on Amazon UK. There are some other USB microphones that have similar 3.5mm jack configurations for voice monitor, but you'll want to check if their drivers allow you to route game audio to the headphone jack under Playback Devices as well. Not sure if that's something standard across the board now or not.
In this setup you can also use VM Banana to route your team's chat line to your headset as well and your capture software. I have Skype routed to my headset as well as to my separate commentary track in OBS.
Yeah, I got them off Amazon, they're not discontinued at all? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Around-Ear/dp/B01JP436TS
I'd like to point out that Sennheiser made a closed back edition of the HD 598. So if you really like the sound signature of the 598s maybe you should check them out.
i have this headphone https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
That's interesting, I had only checked German Amazon (although they now put it on sale, too): https://www.amazon.de/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1486587011&sr=1-1&keywords=sennheiser+hd+598. Are these a good deal right now? are they same as the 249 dollar ones on their website?
Wow. Where is that offer? I'd get a person who is more knowledgeable about this but, that looks really, really good. I'd shoot after getting a better opinion
Just by the way, I wouldn't use the headset that comes with it. With all that money saved snag a sennheiser HD 598 - https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=dp_ob_title_ce and a modmic if you need a microphone - https://www.amazon.com/Antlion-Audio-Modular-Attachable-Microphone/dp/B01MCYRKY3/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486872593&sr=8-1&keywords=modmic+5
For $150 this combination provides best sound/mic quality.
what about these?
I have these sony extra bass headphones but recently broke them after a year. So im looking for a replacement.
EDIT: Didn't mean to reply to you haha but if anyone can answer me that would be nice.
I'm comparing the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone with the Sennheiser Urbanite XL Galaxy Over-Ear Headphones. Any advice? If there are some better headphones for music at around that price range, can you leave a link? Thank you!
Are they good or are there better ones for the same price point?
Edit: I also saw these http://en-uk.sennheiser.com/hd-280-pro are they any better or not?
Is this worth upgrading to Sennheiser HD 598 Cs from my Philips SHP9500s? Not a huge headphones guy but I've been told that there's a noticable jump in quality from $100 to $200/$300. I don't super feel the need to upgrade but I'm considering I might as well since they're off $150 and I've yet to try decent closed back headphones.
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
That might be the answer you are looking for. Currently $119.
HD598C
Just making sure, are these the ones? https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
Not quite sure where to go for them
Trying to decide between Corsair VOID Wireless Dolby 7.1 RGB Gaming Headset and Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone.
They are both the same price and i'm not looking to spend more than that at this time. Primarily will be used for PC gaming.
Thanks
Oh! Those are Sennheiser HD 598 Cs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Around-Ear/dp/B01JP436TS/

I have a bose companion 5. I find the sound very satisfactory but I live in an apartment, so I'm trying to get a headphone for nights.
Does this count as DAC amp people talk about?
If not, what's a good one that will go with Sennheiser HD 598 Cs or HIFIMAN HE-400I? or X2s?
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
It's 200$ now but it'll be 100$ on Black Friday.

Now also EUR 99,00 on Amazon Germany
I was just going off the Amazon reviews. Most note a slight V shape. https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS

HD 598 'Cs' closed backs, on sale for $100 today, Black Friday. Yea or nay?
I never sprung for the standard 598 as I wanted something closed for work.
Pull the trigger? confusion :/
I was searching through Amazon Canada when I came across the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs
They're selling for $200 CAD (~$150 USD).
These are a pretty new set of cans so there aren't that many reviews of them out there, although this review is quite helpful.
Also, anyone want to chime in on the difference between these and the Sennheiser HD 569? (Also $200 CAD).
Compare the specs on this page to the above link to the HD 598 Cs, and you'll see that they're identical. Even this suggests that they're both their own model.
I understand that this won't necessarily translate to identical sound, but it's interesting nonetheless. Perhaps it's strictly a build quality/aesthetic thing?
Lastly I see that on Amazon US the HD 598 Cs and the HD 569 cost $250 USD and $180 USD, respectively. Hell if I know why Canada's prices are so cheap but they both look like a hella good deal to me!
Anywaaaaay, that's my dilemma. If anything, I will most likely pull the trigger on the HD598 Cs.
So, the 598Cs are coming to Germany on November 4th which is quite surprising because they're going to compete with the 569 which came out a few weeks ago. If the only difference is the design changes then you are going to pay 60€ for aesthetics (229,- for the 598Cs vs 179,- for the 569).
It's already on Amazon USA here.
Looks like its called the HD598 CS instead. I was mistaken, I thought it was already released but it looks like its only been released in India so far.
http://www.head-fi.org/t/821889/sennheiser-hd-598-cs-closed-back
IDK why it would say to only use it for desktops, honestly. It looks perfectly fine for portable use considering it only has a 23 ohm impeadence and a closed back. It does have normal 3.5 mm headphone jack as well as a 6.3 mm. Maybe they were referring to the open backs hd 598's which should only be for desktop use. If somebody else knows exactly why then it be nice to know.
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
I have these headphones and need some help finding a good amp to go with them without breaking the bank.
