I thought Colgate Total was different as it contained Triclosan. But i think other toothpastes have this too.
Big difference.. Sensodyne Repair and Protect has a bioglass compound called Novamin that actually bonds with the enamel and gives it an extra coating that fortifies teeth enamel. It is the only compound and toothpaste that actually repairs or fortified your enamel.
I know a new compound called Biomin has come out which is a superior version of Novamin, but it is only available in the UK for now.
Edit: correction: Bioglass is not the only compound that repairs your enamel. But it is the best or among the best there is. Also available over the counter so you don't need some expensive prescription toothpaste.
Novamin (a type of bioglass) was invented by a scientist and Sensodyne bought out his research, so to my knowledge Sensodyne Repair and Protect (non US version) is the only off the shelf toothpaste that has Novamin.
For some reason, the version in the US does not have Novamin. If you want to buy the Novamin version in the US, buy it from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-Repair-Protect-Whitening-Toothpaste/dp/B008VPSTOA
It takes a few weeks to ship from the UK. But the price is reasonable: $6.60 and free shipping.
I have to order my Sensodyne from the UK for this very reason. I have weak enamel and regular Sensodyne wasn't doing anything. Someone in another reddit post mentioned you can order it from Amazon UK so I did.
It's like $6 a tube, but worth it.
EDIT: Here's the link. It's not Amazon.UK but it ships from the UK for $6.60 free shipping.
Sensodyne is the name. Novamin is the stuff he's talking about. I have it, you can ship it on Amazon without prescription. I'm sure on some minute level it does help as much as people claim, but personally it didn't really help at all. The reason it isn't available in US is assumed to be because it wasn't approved with the label that it can "repair" teeth, so they just cut it.

You should check out Sensodyne in the UK. You can get it here
Unlike the Sensodyne in the US, it contains Novamin, which actually closes the microscopic holes in your enamel.
If you live in the US I believe Sensodyne has a different formulation than what is used in other countries. It's possible whatever the active ingredient is in your prescription toothpaste is actually just what's available in the OTC version globally. You can actually get it on Amazon, maybe it'd be cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-Protect-Whitening-Toothpaste-Packaging/dp/B008VPSTOA
(The key here is the Novamin so you might be able to find even cheaper brands with the same ingredient as well)
$20? I think you may be looking at the wrong seller. Here is the one I order on Amazon, the only downside is it takes 2 months to arrive so I buy them in bulk.
I order mine online and I'm in the US (not legal probably, but easy to find on Amazon). It's a tad more expensive but it's great stuff. Just throwing that out there to a fellow bad-teeth buddy.

Do you mean this?
yes. you can also buy it form normal amazon too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008VPSTOA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i have REALLY sensitive teeth (grew up poor as fuck) and this shit actually does help a lot.
Not available in the US, but allegedly does just that: https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-Protect-Whitening-Toothpaste-Packaging/dp/B008VPSTOA
Yes you can, it's available on Amazon just make sure you get the one that says Novamin, like this
I also saw the post about Novamin the other day. I think you may have misinterpreted what you read there. My impression is that the FDA has no problem with Novamin being available OTC, it's just that the manufacturer has chosen to control the supply and refuse to sell it that way. That wouldn't make it illegal to buy or sell.
If it was actually illegal to buy or sell it in the US, you probably wouldn't be able to order it via Amazon. That's just one of many options on Amazon too.
Amazon? Novamin is in Sensodyne.
I recommend Squiggle Tooth Builder for sensitive teeth. I used to have sensitive teeth and it healed my teeth and I no longer have sensitivity. You can buy it on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/stores/node/19072377011?_encoding=UTF8&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Squigle&ref_=bl_dp_s_web_19072377011) in singles or up to 12 packs or on this little known website called Homestead Market (https://www.homesteadmarket.com/Tooth-Builder-Sensitive-Toothpaste--4-oz_p_26.html). Try a tube and you should see a difference by the end of the tube and will want more. Read the reviews for other testimonials.
I've tried a lot of other alternatives, including Sensodyne with Novamin shipped in from the UK--it's a special kind of Sensodyne not available in the US because of copyright laws (or something), but you can buy it on Amazon from the UK (here's a link for the curious https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008VPSTOA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A28A5I4QAVVAEV&psc=1) and it's pretty cheap and arrives quickly. Regardless, I've had better results with the Squiggle Tooth Builder than the Sensodyne with Novamin--and Squiggle is cheaper.
Tooth Builder has something called calcite (it does not contain Novamin, by contrast). Any product page will give you more information about calcite and what it does.
Hopefully someone will get some benefit from this.
I damaged my teeth from sucking on lemons (long story) and then over using whitening strips

This is the one I buy. Sometimes it comes from France though so the packaging may be in French but I’ve been buying from this seller for years now.
Fyi after someone replied, I checked and it's not Rx only in the US. You can buy it from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-Protect-Whitening-Toothpaste-Packaging/dp/B008VPSTOA
FDA just (very appropriately) said the maker can't say it prevents cavities since there are no good clinical trials showing that. Europe apparently let's them say whatever they want on the label since toothpaste is a cosmetic there https://medium.com/@ravenstine/the-curious-history-of-novamin-toothpaste-620c6bef8881
You can remineralize your teeth either with strong flouride at the dentist or with Novamin. It's too bad that they don't sell Novamin in the states. I think P&G took that out of their Sensodyne but it's in the Sensodyne in Canada and Europe and Australia.

This is the stuff, sorry it's about half that price on sale in the stores $6 for 100ml instead of $10 for 75ml. Our Amazon sucks much of the time.
where are you seeing £3? Cheapest I see on Amazon is $7.80 and on ebay (from a place I'd be more inclined to trust) is ~$11/tube. Just be careful you are actually buying Sensodyne with Novamin because the USA packaging (without Novamin) looks EXACTLY the same. Only if you can read the actual package clearly and can either see the tiny print saying "Novamin" or can read the ingredients list.
EDIT: Ok I guess you were looking on Amazon.co.uk. Keep in mind that doesn't include shipping to the USA... which can be pricey if you're not factoring it in ahead of time
sensodyne [the UK not US variety] has it:
https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-Repair-Protect-Whitening-Toothpaste/dp/B008VPSTOA
Actually, I just ordered, this is the right link. It must be shipped from the UK :/ Thanks capitalism...
Try this
Actually you can replace enamel with hydroxyapetite/novamin
